Coulter: Romney should fire his spokesman for that RomneyCare response to the steelworker ad

Via Mediaite, inquiring conservatives on Twitter are asking: Er, isn’t Ann Coulter herself famously a big fan of RomneyCare?

Answer: Yeah, but I’m not sure it’s Andrea Saul’s mention of RomneyCare that’s really bugging her. Mediaite’s transcript:

“Her response was not that it was despicable, not that Bain… that Romney had left Bain five years earlier or the woman died five years after the plant closed and didn’t even get her insurance from her husband, her response was, ‘Well, if she had lived in Massachusetts with Mitt Romney’s health care plan, she would have had health insurance.’ Anyone who donates to Mitt Romney, and I mean the big donors, ought to say if Andrea Saul isn’t fired and off the campaign tomorrow, they are not giving another dime, because it is not worth fighting for this man if this is the kind of spokesman he has…

There’s no point in you doing your show, there’s no point in going to the convention and pushing for this man if he’s employing morons like this. This ad is the turning point and she has nearly snatched victory from the jaws of defeat! She should be off the campaign.”

I think she’s irritated mainly because Saul is playing Obama’s game by treating the steelworker ad as legitimate. You don’t respond to a smear like that by addressing it on the merits; you respond by explaining why it’s a smear and how it reveals just what a fraud the Hopenchange aura is. It’s an opportunity to attack with righteous fury, and somehow Saul blew it by stepping on her own message with the health-care aside.

The way to respond to it also isn’t to pimp the progenitor of Obamacare. Now we know Mittens still loves himself some individual mandates.

The problem with the response is that it unnecessarily poops on conservatives AGAIN. As Rush said she ripped off the scab.

Why would we expect anything different. Romney’s never apologized for Romneycare. He’s defended it. Romney has tried to distinquish Romneycare from Obamacare on minute differences.

You (Coulter and Others) rooted for and nominated a liberal as the GOP nominee. Now you want his staff to respond with less liberal responses.

Why? To maintain the illusion of conservativeness until it can be Etch a Sketched after the election?

She got her wish now she has sour grapes. We all knew how he would handle these things, yet she was to blind to see...

Personally, I’m ABO and will be voting. That said, Ann gave him her support so now she cab eat his “weak responses.” Moderates always are weak with their responses. If we had a Conservative in this race, the response would carr strength and would be winning over millions of Americans.

Her “surprise” is just a reminder as to why I was so dissapponted in her and will not bother buying any more of her material.

We Don’t need to fire Romney’s people, we need to fire Romney.

I wish there were some way to do it,but I fear it is too late.

I was all for Gingrich, but Romney tore him apart, too bad he isn’t fighting Obama as hard as he fought Gingrich.

If this babe was the one I heard yesterday she should be fired. Bumbling and stuttering and sounded juvenile. I heard her, didn’t see her but I was embarrassed.

All Romney needs to say is: I believe the healthcare debacle should be a State issue, not a Federal one. The Heritage Foundation apparently recommended the blueprint for Romneycare, but said it would not work on the level of the Federal Government. The country is too big for Romneycare.
