Time Magazine suspends Fareed Zakaria
Politico ^ | August. 10, 2012 | DYLAN BYERS

Time Magazine has announced that it will suspend columnist Fareed Zakaria following his admission of plagiraism earlier this afternoon.

"TIME accepts Fareed's apology, but what he did violates our own standards for our columnists, which is that their work must not only be factual but original; their views must not only be their own but their words as well. As a result, we are suspending Fareed's column for a month, pending further review."

CNN, where Zakaria hosts a show, has yet to respond to a request for comment regarding Zakaria's admission of plagiarism.

Earlier this afternoon, Zakaria released a statement in which he admitted to palgiarizing a New Yorker article about the National Rifle Association for his own column about gun laws in the latest issue of Time Magazine.

If they end up firing him, they’ll have to find another Muslim terrorist who measures up to their standards. Come to think of it, that shouldn’t be too hard.

” Time Magazine suspends Fareed Zakaria “

Yawn...

Now, if they were to ‘suspend’ him over a pit of crocodiles - now, that would be interesting... ;)

Time Magazine suspends lies publicly that Fareed Zakaria is suspended, knowing full well that they will wait until sufficient time has passed and people forget and he won't suffer any negative consequence to his pay, position or status at Time at all for this fraud.

... straining at a gnat, and swallowing a camel...

Their bias is sooooooo blatant it's hard to believe they have standards. Time Magazine is like a circus fat lady scraping the sprinkles off her 8th donut... Who care at that point...

These nitwits can’t even be original when they’re wrong. Isn’t that a fail-fail?

That’s a shame. TIME will probably fold by the time his suspension is up!

I read the BLAZE article on this. It's not like he copied the words verbatim; he reworked the sentences to say the same thing in the same way, but a few words are different.

Take a look:

First, Zakaria’s “The Case for Gun Control” piece from Time magazine’s upcoming Aug. 20 issue:

Adam Winkler, a professor of constitutional law at UCLA, documents the actual history in Gunfight: The Battle over the Right to Bear Arms in America. Guns were regulated in the U.S. from the earliest years of the Republic. Laws that banned the carrying of concealed weapons were passed in Kentucky and Louisiana in 1813. Other states soon followed: Indiana in 1820, Tennessee and Virginia in 1838, Alabama in 1839 and Ohio in 1859. Similar laws were passed in Texas, Florida and Oklahoma. As the governor of Texas (Texas!) explained in 1893, the “mission of the concealed deadly weapon is murder. To check it is the duty of every self-respecting, law-abiding man.”

Compare that to Jill Lepore’s “Battleground America” New Yorker article back in April:

As Adam Winkler, a constitutional-law scholar at U.C.L.A., demonstrates in a remarkably nuanced new book, “Gunfight: The Battle Over the Right to Bear Arms in America,” firearms have been regulated in the United States from the start. Laws banning the carrying of concealed weapons were passed in Kentucky and Louisiana in 1813, and other states soon followed: Indiana (1820), Tennessee and Virginia (1838), Alabama (1839), and Ohio (1859). Similar laws were passed in Texas, Florida, and Oklahoma. As the governor of Texas explained in 1893, the “mission of the concealed deadly weapon is murder. To check it is the duty of every self-respecting, law-abiding man.”

He didn't just copy the thoughts - he had to deliberately go through and rework everything to get that to come out.

"we are suspending Fareed's column for a month, pending further review."

Yeah, they'll wait a whole month for this to blow over. Then he'll be back to his propaganda.

What a shame. I always enjoyed watching and reading Fareed. He elevated self important, arrogant flatulence to new heights. He will be missed.
