Watching MSNBC right now (shoot me), they made a good point about his intellectual skills and being an ideas man.

I wonder if Romney is looking for a Reaganesque figure here. If so, Ryan may be a great person for that.

Agreed. Ryan was asking a lot of good questions during the Obamacare hearings way back when... So good that we got one of those pictures of Obama “being bored/holding up his middle finger”. That alone should rock him a bit. I only hope that SOMEONE will bring up Fast & Furious, the “secret” support of the Muslim Brotherhood, etc... We NEED for the country to know these things. We also NEED the country to know that Obama is NOT who he appears to be.

Yes. I did not know all you just said but I did have mixed feelings about him possibly being chosen as the VP. I’m not upset, just mixed feelings.

You think there’s a way he save his seat while running with Romney? Either way we don’t want to lose his seat to a dem.

Bingo. The ABRs are selfish self centered and delusional.

Yes, Jedi, I think it is very correct to say he is vigorously pro-life.

The short clip I linked to earlier shows this and that he knows the left’s tactics of trotting out their useful idiots. Worth a watch:

I wish that were possible, but until it is... I’ve been down the 3rd party road - I actually started there. The only way to change it is from the inside, IMO. Change the things you are able to change. Stem the blood flow when you can.

>>”Paul Ryan was one of those I hoped would run for President in 2012.”

Me too. Ryan and DeMint and, heck, some others I didn’t know much about... We had such a weak field and so little bench strength. A golden opportunity with this election, but...

Oh, well. You fight with the army you have.

I’m glad it’s Ryan, but I’m even more glad I didn’t have to make the decision for VP. We don’t know how this will turn out in the end, but I’m glad to have Ryan at the bat for us.

It’s funny, looking at Ryan’s text in print from various articles, I could easily mistake all of it as stuff that Newt Gingrich said. Which is a very, very good thing. They both seem to be as strong on big visionary ideas as they are on practical policy details. Which still seems like a very rare combination in a politician.

If conservatives want to eliminate the cancer infecting both parties they need to learn how to persuade voters, not just complaining and play victims like liberals do.

You think there’s a way he save his seat while running with Romney? Either way we don’t want to lose his seat to a dem.

Might depend what the rules in Wisconsin are. If he wins his seat and the Presidential election, who gets to appoint his replacement if he resigns from the House? It also depends if Wisconsin law allows him to be on the ballot for two different positions at the same time. Delaware law allowed Biden to do so. He won both elections and was sworn in as Senator before resigning several days later to be sworn in as V.P. Maybe Wisconsin would end up having a special election if Ryan won but resigned the seat?

In late August 2008, he was picked by Obama to be his running mate. Biden nevertheless continued to run for Senate re-election as well as Vice President,[104] as permitted by Delaware state law.[46] On November 4, 2008, Biden was re-elected as senator, in addition to winning the vice presidency.[105]

Delaware's Democratic governor, Ruth Ann Minner, announced on November 24, 2008, that she would appoint Biden's longtime senior adviser Ted Kaufman to succeed Biden in the Senate.[109]

I got the same impression. I think what it is is similar to Reagan - and I don’t mean to compare them in other areas.

Reagan had studied and gone so deep on the issues and developed his core beliefs and was able to translate them into policy, they were all of a piece to him: personal beliefs/government policy.

My favorite example is when Reagan was asked his views on the Cold War and said: “We win; they lose.”

Now this was at the time when the popular zeitgeist was we could get along and co-exist. Reagan disagreed and summarized his core policy immediately and in four words.

I’m comparing Reagan, and Newt, and Ryan in the way you mention: vision and practical mesh. I think that only happens when a man is a thoroughly integrated political personality. He doesn’t have to think about what would be the right approach on this or the other, it all flows from who they are.

Sorry for the length, but this is an important decision; I’m praying for our nation.

BRAVO! I love your message. And I will pass it on to every one I run into who sings that same ole “I won’t vote for Romney” song.

Don't forget the trolls, the oboma/soros operatives who like to gum up the works with their “anti-Romney” rants.

This is a very high risk/high reward pick. Either Romney, Ryan, and the Republicans will successfully sell the Ryan Budget and deliver a crushing blow to Obama and the Dems, or Obama succeeds in demagogueing it and the crushing blow will be dealt to us.

The stakes of this election have just been raised. Big time.

They would have done the same no matter who was the choice. I vividly recall the laughter and snide remarks when Reagan was nominated back in 1980. If it were Rubio they would have pounded on the scandal over the use of credit cards even though he was exonerated.

All the libs would care about is the accusation and they would have played it up for all it was worth.

You are correct. He has shown zero evidence of any above average intelligence and I am amazed at the number of people here who because the media pounds it out daily, believe he is intelligent and a wonderful speaker.
