KABUL, Afghanistan — An Afghan police officer killed at least 10 of his fellow officers on Saturday, a day after six U.S. service members were gunned down by their Afghan partners in summer violence that has both international and Afghan forces questioning who is friend or foe.

...

A day earlier, two Afghans shot and killed six American service members Friday in neighboring Helmand province in the south where insurgents have wielded their greatest influence.

In the first attack, an Afghan police officer shot and killed three Marines after sharing a pre-dawn meal with them in the volatile Sangin district, according to Afghan officials.

Was the same policy in place when Rumsfeld went there?

Just asking...

Like that weather forecast for Kabul that made the rounds on 9/12 .... Partly cloudy to brilliantly sunny, temps to 3,000,000 o, winds variable to 800 mph.

Not sure about Rumsfeld, but the problem was not as bad then, as far fewer Afghans were "trained up".

Believe me, Panetta and US brass do NOT worry about US troops "fragging" their civilian leaders.

They aren’t allowed. This was a big deal when my husband was there. We were actually just talking about it today. The poppy fields were off-limits. They were not to be damaged.

WTF are we still doing there?

I thought that this country voted for Obama in 2008 because they disliked GWB so much for getting us in the Afghan mess.

When I think of Afghanistan I see precious American blood being spilled in a black hole for a bunch of mooselimbs who hate us.

We need those poppy fields....

There's going to be a lot of 'pain pills' needed when Obamacare and the death panels go full-force. /s

But were any Qurans burnt by Americans? Cause that would cause Hamid Karzai to demand someone be prosecuted.

Including my friend’s son.... about two months ago. He and other US soldiers were walking with three Afghan police trainees and the Afghani’s turned and shot 8. His son was killed and many wounded. I agree ...get out!

"Afghan policeman guns 10 of his fellow officers, a day after Afghan gunmen kill 6 US soldiers[3USMC]"

What's the purpose of identifying 3 of the troops were Marines? Are they somehow more deserving of mourning than the other 3, whatever their branches of service?

<>The Poppy fields is why the US is there, not “nation building”.<>

Poppy fields and the $7.6 billion Trans-Afghanistan Pipeline:

The deal being worked out is: We won’t mess with your poppy fields, if you don’t mess with our pipeline.

Marines are not soldiers. It’s a Marine thing. My brother was a soldier who died in Nam. It has nothing to do with not honoring their deaths. Not acknowledging their loss is disrespectful.

The DOD has not released the information on them yet. They could all be Marines, and then the media will be able to use the correct title.

“New record crops”

Actually, the poppy crop was only 10% of normal in the area I work, an area mention in the article.

Sonds weird. The stats have had the crops on a steep upward curve ever since US involvement.

I am, mind you, offering insight of a local area, not sure about the rest of the area, however, the wx causing the 10% wasn’t all that local.

Dunno, about other sources, but, I do know this.
