Ryan is a good man, but does not redeem the abortionist/homosexualist statist Romney
Aug 11, 2012 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 08/11/2012 4:42:48 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

Except for his unfortunate go along to get along support of TARP, bailouts, stimulus spending and the increased credit limit, etc, Ryan is a pretty good choice. Probably the best choice of the RINOS that were on Romney's short list. I support Ryan for the vice presidency. Wish he were at the top of the ticket, though.

But I still cannot and will not support the grand father of ObamaCare. Romney still loves and brags about his bastard brainchild, RomneyCare, even today when he knows what an anti-liberty socialist POS it is.

And the fact that he advocated that abortion should be safe and legal in America for over three decades of his adult lifetime and even advocated that Roe v Wade should be supported and sustained as settled law precludes any consideration whatsoever by this pro-life Christian for Myth Romney for the presidency.

And the fact that he boasted that he would be better for "gay rights" than Ted Kennedy, and proved it just increases my resistance.

That, and his penchant for gun control, his continuing support for global warming, gays in the scouts, gays in the military, and his record of appointing liberal judges makes it all but impossible for me to support him.

Lastly, we're having a bit of changeover on our moderator staff. At least two moderators resigned this afternoon after I flatly refused to rein in a so-called anti-Mormon "bigot" on FR. Well, if being in opposition to false prophets and false prophecy makes a Christian believer a bigot, then I guess I'm a bigot. I've posted before that I flat do not believe that the Book of Mormon is the true word of God. Nor do I believe that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. The Christian bible warns us to be weary of false prophets and that I am. Romney being the presumptive Republican nominee does not change that fact.

Nothing to do but support the ticket, and hope that Romney gets a yen for red meat, fried food, and overuses potency drugs (how I was able to stomach voting for McCain in 2008). Even if not, at least Obama will not be pResident (how I was able to stomach contemplating voting for McCain until he unveiled Sara at the convention).

Fear does some really strange things to people. I liken these that think they are doing the LORD’s work as needing a diaper change. Any ‘honest’ review of Romney's political past demonstrates he is a LIBERAL on all counts. There is literally nothing conservative about his political past. I guess because he got along so famously with the liberals in MA is all the credibility required to make him president.

Furthermore, Obama is the perfumed prince that represents apparently the majority of Americans, else how could it be that his ilk are still in charge of the Senate. And might as well be still controlling the House of Representatives. AND here we go again getting our collective (just had to use that word) heads bashed because we are NOT performing like scared abused women.

Decimating the morale of our military and forcing Catholic doctors to perform abortions will motivate people to right what was wronged.

He’d do it too; I know him well.

Thank you. I appreciate your kind words.

I love this country and I have always felt welcome here, but the last few days have disappointed me greatly.

I have received very hateful mail from some here, but I believe in the end, most here are good and decent people who do not judge, lest they be, and who realize that NO religion has all the right answers and that the true message of the Christ was that “love your neighbor as you do yourself”.

I love my wife. But if I said that while maligning her and pointing out my perception of her faults, she would logically question whether or not I loved her at all.

These people who feign “love” for Mormons and others they don’t agree with while calling them “occult” and “brainwashed” don’t love their neighbors at all. They are only using a bully pulpit to make themselves appear “more holy” or more significant than they actually are.

What was Dan Quayle's signature VP accomplishment? How about Dick Cheney? You remember Al Gore, but off the top of your head, do you remember a thing he accomplished as VP?

Paul Ryan is a fine man. He made a mistake with his support of the bailouts, but he swallowed his pride and talked it back. I respect him for that. And had he run at the top of the ticket, I (especially as a Wisconsinite) could have supported him.

But in Romney's shadow he serves one purpose and one purpose only, to draw in the support of the conservative base. Once he has served that purpose, he will be removed from the spotlight and his days will be spent cheerleading for Romney in foreign lands.

It's a tremendous honor to have been chosen to run as VP. I don't begrudge him one bit for heading the call. And I give Romney's people a fair amount of credit for swallowing the pill and selecting him of the other choices. Clearly he is the most suited to move the grass roots.

But to perfectly honest, we truly need Paul Ryan to remain in the House (preferably as the Speaker) and continue to press for change where we need it most. His voice is wasted attending parades and funerals around the world. Pulling him out of such a leadership position for that, is a mistake.

And your argument about passing by Joseph Smith first is completely illogical and frankly irrelevent, you are so busy judging others. So you (and I) understand he's in for a shock at the free pass -- no Smith -- when he arrives directly in front of our Lord for judgement. Good for him! He's acknowledged Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He has lived as loving and moral a life as you or I, he has given back to God at every opportunity, and he has been led through some hoops to the same outcome by a false prophet. It's Smith I'd worry about if I were you, in such a position to judge as you find yourself

Sounds like you've already "judged" Mitt Romney 100% spiritually fit...(if only the Mormons would treat Christians that way and stop ringing their doorbells)

I thought you said we shouldn't "judge" others? Yet you're "judging" Mitt Romney (positively)

And what other groups are you telling Christians to bring their missionaries home from evangelizing -- besides Mormons, that is? (What other religious are "spiritually fit," too? I mean, most of the cults reference a "Jesus Christ" in some way or another...so any ole reference to "Jesus" is fine...and if people start to describe "DRey" -- let's say you're real name -- online...and, hey, if that description is way off base, who cares?)

So, are you telling Christians everywhere not to witness to Jehovah's Witnesses as well as Mormons? (Since they also "acknowledge" Jesus Christ in some way)

A different Jesus

So...you're telling us, DRey, that when we see the following citations from Mormon leaders, we just are to assume they're talking about the "same" Jesus?

“Modern revelation speaks of our Lord as he that ‘ascended up on high, as also he descended below all things, in that he comprehended all things, that he might be in all and through all things, the light of truth‘ (D&C 88:6). Christ's rise to the throne of exaltation was preceded by his descent below all things. Only by submitting to the powers of demons and death and hell could he, in the resurrection, serve as our exemplar of a saved being... (McConkie and Millet, Doctrinal Commentary on the Book of Mormon, vol. 1, p. 234)

Please also see...
* McConkie, Doctrinal New Testament Commentary, Vol. 3, p. 238 where he said the Mormon "jesus" "Needs salvation...Came to earth to work out His own salvation
* McConkie, "The Seven Deadly Heresies,' in Speeches of the Year, 1980 [Provo: Brigham Young University Press, 1981] p. 78 where he said: "There was only one perfect being, the Lord Jesus. If men had to be perfect and live all of the law strictly, wholly, and completely, there would be only one saved person in eternity." [cited in Come, Follow Me: Melchizedek Priesthood Personal Study Guide 1983 (1983) p. 72]

In all fairness, though I have made my positionr regarding Romney and this election clear, and why [HERE], most of what Jim was referring to that you are refuting were things Jim attributes to Mitt Romney, not Paul Ryan. ROmney did try and take a stance stronger on Gay Rights than Kennedy many years ago when he tried to run against him. Romney has indicated in his past that he is against assault weapons, etc.

Although in the past Romney has these worng positions, he indicates he has changed and now for the last 6+ years has been advocating conservative positions. People are using his past to judge him now. But his [POSTIONS NOW] make it clear what he is running on in 2012...as it did in 2008 when Jim supported him against McCain.

I would love to have a chance for Romney to show these changes are in fact solid and real by serving in the Senate or somewhere else for a few years...but now we do not have that luxury. He has picked Ryan, which is a much more conservative pick than many here felt he would make. And he is running against an abject Marxist who, with a will, and openly, is going about fundamentally changing our Republic and destroying it.

We do not have the luxury of years...we need to remove Obama now...and sad as it is, it will either be Obama or Romney for President. We need Romney in there with a majority House and Senate so he can enact what he has promised. If he does, the nation will turn around and Romney will be remembered in history as a huge turning point for the good of the Republic.

If we do not, Obama will drive us headlong into the ground.

That entails voting FOR Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan. While I wish Ryan was at the top of the ticket and Romney wasn’t even on it, wishing doesn’t make it so.

I refuse to aid and abet Barack Hussein Obama and the democrap party in any way, shape or form in November.

It isn’t about that Jim.

This anti-Mormon mantra cannot have free reign here if this site will remain the center of grassroots conservatism. Not only does it brand FR as a fringe hate site subject to all sorts of bad things, but it goes against the core of conservatism. Freedom OF religion, not freedom FROM religion.

You can have your own personal opinion just like anyone else can, but to make an exception to forbidding bigotry posts only in the case of Mormons will bring this site to kook fringe status. Some of us are subject to background checks for job security clearances, and once that label gets put here, that’s it and we’re done. Some of us here in the West have G-d fearing Mormons as clients or do business with them on a regular basis, or socialize with them.

People having issues with voting for conservative Catholics and Mormons is today; what is the next G-d fearing religion that will be in the cross hairs here? Mennonites? Sikhs? Hindus? Buddhists? Jews? Seventh Day Adventists? Jehovah’s Witnesses? Southern Baptists?

I appeal to your common sense here.

...do you think the Mormons ought to reciprocate and quit supporting christian conservatives?

Mormons already exercise their religious prerogatives on voting primarily ONLY for Mormon candidates; yet we don't have the "bigot patrol" out excoriating them for that.

I actually support their right to weigh their faith into their voting decisions; therefore, I don't call Mormons "bigots" for their voting patterns.

How do we know that Mormons ALREADY only vote 88-94% pro-Mormon when given a choice?

Per this 2008 exit poll data:

Exit poll data from Tuesday's primary elections showed Utah Republican voters cared more about presidential candidates' PERSONAL QUALITIES THAN THEIR POSITIONS ON THE ISSUES, the OPPOSITE OF THE NATIONAL TREND of the national trend in Super Tuesday voting.
Source: Romney's exit disappoints strong Utah following (Feb. 7, 2008 AP/Salt Lake Tribune)

Hence, it was rather interesting that 94-95% of Mormons in both Utah and Nevada voted for Romney in 2008:

* 2008 (Utah) "While the former Massachusetts governor’s faith has been a flashpoint in his campaign, it was perhaps one of his strongest assets in Utah, where more than 60% of the state’s residents share his faith. Exit poll data shows Romney swept voters across the board, handily winning every social, economic, and generational demographic in the state, as well as 94% of all Mormon voters." (Susan Davis, Wall Street Journal, Feb. 5, 2008, Romney Wins Utah With Help From Friends [Note: The Wall Street Journal was citing MSNBC.msn.com...]

* 2008 (Nevada) Per the Mormon Church, Mormons make up about 7.5% of Nevada's population. But according to the entrance polls so far, a whopping 25% of those who participated in the state's GOP caucuses are Mormons. And 94% of those people went with Romney.
Source: Nevada Mormons turn out for Romney (Mark Murray, MSNBC, Jan. 19, 2008)

* 2008 (Arizona and Nevada): In the Nevada Republican caucuses last cycle, entrance polls found that a quarter — 26 percent — of participants were Mormons and 95 percent supported Romney. He won the state handily. The numbers were also impressive in Arizona, where exit polls showed 11 percent of voters were Mormon and 88 percent of them voted for Romney...
Source: Mitt Romney’s Mormon firewall

* 2012 (Nevada): According to exit polls conducted for the Associated Press, nine of 10 Mormon voters in Nevada supported Romney.
Source: Paul seeks to attract Mormon voters in Nevada GOP contest

If Christians voted the way Mormons vote --
-- the way others often accuse them of --
--"somebody who believes like me" --
--they would be BBQ'd in the MSM ... and even on FR.

Yet when Mormons vote...
...88% for the Mormon (Arizona, 2008)
...94% for the Mormon (Nevada and Utah, 2008)
...90% for the Mormon (Nevada, 2012)...
...they get a free pass from those who love to pound others who "weigh too much" "religion" into their decision-making.

Sounds like open religious hypocrisy to me.

Not being a Christian is probably why you assume that exposing a cult and trying to help people to not be seduced into the false religion that the LDS belief system is Mormon hating when in fact it is loving those decieved to attempt to draw them away from, or out of something that will not lead them to a relationship with God.

Jim, I have great respect for you and what you have done with your life. However, I must vote for Mitt Romney regardless of his views on abortion and homosexuality...there are State’s Rights that balance those issues out. Political Correctness is your worst enemy imho....plus personal issues usually are a vote for the opposition, in this case a vote against Romney is a vote for Obama. A second term for that man means Pelosi will be back with a Debbie Wasserman Schultz as her shadow. Romney and Ryan do not need tel-prompters, they speak very well on their own. Do I agree with everything they say? NO I don’t however, I do not want Barack H. Obama back for a second term....this country could not stand it. Is this a “conservative” website or an “anti-Mormon” website.

I’m getting really confused.

Best post of the entire thread. I have tears in my eyes from that.

I heartily agree.

Preach your bigotry elsewhere.

Don’t you dare use my Jewish religion as an excuse for pointing out your hatred.

It would be nice if you guys showed half the disgust you show for Romney to Obama.

Thank you so very much. We must do EVERYTHING within our power to ensure the resounding defeat of Barack Hussein 0bama.

Like you, I believe that - to paraphrase Mr. Franklin, we must all stand together, or we will most surely find ourselves CHAINED together.

Romney is most certainly not the candidate many of us would have chosen, but he is who we are left with, and even aside from Ryan,(who, IMNSHO was a GREAT choice), the reality is that with work, we can and will be able to keep Romney in line. 0bama? Just look at all he has wrought when he knew he had to be reelected?! He WILL complete the transformation my FRiends.

May God guide our course.

There is nothing “loving” about what these people are doing to Mormons here. I have not seen intolerance and hatred allowed to flow like this among a “Christian” people in a long time.

They can hide behind the cross all day, but in the end, they lash out at what they hate and doing so in the name of their Christ is unfathomable. They will answer to their God for their actions.

I stand with you.

I am starting to think this is infiltration in revenge against Mormons for their Prop 8 / California involvement.

I cannot rationalize so much hate otherwise.

Throw some anti-Semitism into the hate cauldron that is bubbling on this thread. I'm certain The Won's minions are thrilled.
