Obama: Ryan is Congressional Republicans’ ‘ideological leader’ By Olivier Knox, Yahoo! News | The Ticket – 46 mins ago

In his first public remarks about Paul Ryan's pick to be the presumptive Republican vice presidential candidate, President Barack Obama called the lawmaker "a decent man" but painted him as a champion of "top down" economic policies that favor the rich.

"Just yesterday morning, my opponent chose his running mate, the ideological leader of the Republicans in Congress, Mr. Paul Ryan," Obama said at the second of five fundraising events in his hometown of Chicago. "I want to congratulate Congressman Ryan. I know him, I welcome him to the race."

"Congressman Ryan is a decent man. He is a family man. He's an articulate spokesman for Governor Romney's vision. But it's a vision that I fundamentally disagree with," the president said, arguing that Romney and Ryan were standard-bearers for "top-down economics."

Obama's main political vulnerability ahead of the election remains the economy, still sputtering and weighed down by high unemployment of 8.3 percent three and a half years after he took office. The president has argued he will stand up for the middle class, while Romney will help the rich at the expense of everyone else.

At the fundraiser, Obama highlighted private-sector job growth — which has been painfully slow, but steady --- and policies like his rescue of the auto industry, but admitted "we've got a long way to go."

"All of us know friends, neighbors, family members who are still out of work or whose homes are still underwater," he said. "Too many folks are still burdened by enormous college debt. Too many folks still don't have a sense that tomorrow will be better than today."

Mr. Obama—you fundamentally disagree with Ryan because, whether you know it or not, you’ve been indoctrinated to think traditional America must be destroyed.

But your attempts are an assault against our way of life. I won’t stand for it.

Mr. Obama, my vote for Ryan is personal, not political.

“...economic policies that favor the rich.”

When you favor the rich, a thousand poor can become rich.
When you favor the poor, a thousand rich will become poor.

The industrial revolution was not because a bunch of poor people got together, rather a bunch of capitalists who used their ingenuity to utilize the poor to turn low-value raw material and labor into high value-added products and services that not only benefit the rich, but also the very poor most of whom can become rich if they follow in the footsteps of their rich(er) peers.

I want someone to ask Obama the question, if top down economics do not work, what kind of economics do work and why haven’t they worked in the last 4 years.

...the president said, arguing that Romney and Ryan were standard-bearers for "top-down economics."

Actually, in Obama's mind, all wealth comes from the government, and thus HE and the Democrats are the ultamate pushers of "top-down economics".

In reality, wealth doesn't "trickle down" like this but rather it bubbles up to the top, i.e., Ross Perot got rich by having a little bit of each of the millions of EDS sales bubble up to him.

THe Romney/Ryan rally in Waukesha which just ended drew nearly 10,000 people (the Republicans were hoping for 5000) to stand outdoors in the sun for several hours waiting for the dignitaries to arrive. No chairs allowed for the masses. I have bad knees so I elected to watch on TV, otherwise I'd have been there. It was fantastic and inspiring.

About 50 years ago, a man (my boss at the time)told me "give a poor man a dollar and he'll spend it. Give a rich man a dollar and he'll turn it into two.

He died a millionaire.

I went on to put two young men through Clarkson and Syracuse U

The lesson...you get rich by working your butt off.

Msg to Obama:

Ryan would wipe your ass off the podium in a one on one discussion/debate on the U.S. economy and budget. Even if you brought your teleprompter (in you case your fake brain)
you would lose big time. You nor the teleprompter has enough depth to compete. Plus, you could not keep you lies straight. We have already seen that failure.
You’re going down in the November election and good riddance to the anti-American

On Monday we will be attending the Romney rally here in St. Augustine, Fla. Its a small town, although the oldest city in the U.S.
We are pumped. This is a very red county. Most of the elections are decided in the primarys, Repub vs Repub, because few democrats even run for office in the general election.

This nightmare must end!
