WaPo Food Critic Blasts Conservative Restaurant Owners, Compares 'Papa John's' to Drug Cartel

"Since when does serving up junk food give someone a license to preach?" carped Petula Dvorak as she opened her August 14 piece, "Now featuring filet o' fracas."* Gee, I dunno, Petula, maybe 1791, when the First Amendment -- you know, that pesky little document that guarantees freedom of speech and religion among other things -- was ratified.

"We've got the Papa John's pizza guys weighing in on the health-care debate, while the burger slingers out West at In-N-Out can't serve up a cheeseburger without a Bible verse," Dvorak carped. Later in her Metro section column, she essentially compared the pizza chain to drug-running terrorists.

I am sure that the criticism for Ben & Jerry's can be found somewhere later in the article.

I remember what Clinton told the owner of Godfather’s Pizza just to raise the price. He said he’d gladly pay more for pizza so that his employees can have healthcare. Apparently Clinton thinks that college kids can afford to pay the increase as well.

Do liberals think a license is required to preach in America?

What kind of country would we be if licenses were required?

People who serve up junk thought do it all the time.

They’re coming undone. The show’s only going to get better between now and November. I love the smell of desperation in the morning. Smells like ... victory.

“while the burger slingers out West at In-N-Out can’t serve up a cheeseburger without a Bible verse,”

Not “can’t”, sweetheart - “won’t”.

Snarky little thing, ain’t she?

Arrogant, self-absorbed “journ-O-list” who don’t understand the rest of the First Amendment (Freedom of Press only), and who think they’re better than everyone else even while pretending to be “tolerant” et al

Well, as long as they don’t have the US Armed Forces on their side, everything will come out fine.

They can fool themselves most of the time that their effete intellectual bi-coastal humanism is the dominant mode of thought in this country. But the numbers don't lie. Clearly the majority of America is perfectly comfortable with Chick-fil-A and Papa John's.

Where is the leftist outrage when George Clooney, Morgan Freeman, Susan Sarandon, Sean Penn, and a list of about a thousand other self-righteous minstrels preach to us? At least Papa Johns manufactures and markets a product instead of just reading a script written by a smarter person.

Why would anyone be interested in the political opinions of a food critic?

We’d be a country that takes it’s Christianity VERY seriously! Like those Chinese Christians, and those African Christians, and those Persian Christians, etc.
