Polls closed in Connecticut at 8 p.m. as voters cast ballots in the state's primary elections Tuesday.
The Associated Press delcared Linda McMahon the winner of the GOP Senate race over Chris Shays about 40 minutes after the polls closed.
Elections officials said turnout appears to be on track to hit 25 percent to 30 percent as Republicans and Democrats picked their candidates for the November general election.
Hotly contested races for the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives dominate Tuesday's ballots.
Many polling places saw a slow stream of voters.
Secretary of the State's office spokesman Av Harris said turnout was 7 to 8 percent in the morning and no major problems were reported.

If the ‘rat running against her is well known and relatively popular (like Blumenthal was in 2010), Linda is going to get suplexed (figuretively speaking). But then, Vinnie Mac has plenty of pocket change to spend on Linda’s political hobby.

Now....Florida is a different story. Connie Mack has won the GOP Senate primary and will handily defeat Bill Nelson this coming November. The GOP total vote is some 300,000 votes mor then the Democrat promary vote. Alan West destroyed his opponent and will easily win his new seat in November over “dirt bag” Democrat Pay Murphy, a insult to all American-Irishmen. Predition, Obama will lose Florida, big time!!!

My home state is New York. NY,NY to be exact. My favorite state is SC but sometimes life has a way corralling you in a geographic location you’d rather not be in. Such is life.

Chris Murphy was one of Pelosi's many lap dogs in the House, and needs to be sent packin' to find that real non-public job he's never held.
Chris Shays blew it when he said he wouldn’t vote for Linda McMahon in the general and made himself look petulant. It’s quite an accomplishment to make McMahon look like a stateswoman. I have heard she’s improved as a candidate since 2010, but she’ll still lose to Congressman Christopher Murphy.
Republicans have a chance at winning Murphy’s Congrsesional district, but that relies on a Lowell Weicker-style liberal winning the nomination. I don’t envy our Nutmeg state peers.
I voted for Linda simply because there was NO conservative to vote for and I’m damn sure not voting for Chris Shays who turned out to be a RINO through his years in the House.
We also needed someone who could nuetralise that idiot Blumenthal.Connecticuts democrat mouthpiece.
If we had someone better than Linda I’m sure they would have neen nominated.But Alas this is the Liberal Bastion of Connecticut.

Linda is a very nice, refined woman who has worked, with her husband Vince, very hard to get where they are today. WWE is very popular around the world. WWE magazines alone sell extremely well.

Exactly. I feel for you, I really do. When an electorate is comfortable with electing someone like Shays, who lies about his military service, then there’s only so much the rest can do. I hope she wins this time around.

I wasn't even sure Shays was still running until I recently saw his ONE TV ad. It was awful... his wife basically saying what a nice guy Chris is and that "Chris gets things done". Yeah, OK... whatever.
Shays also made a few boring comments on WTIC's Ray Dunaway Show - he didn't impress me at all.
Linda's a RINO, but I like her new and improved (from her 2010 run) ad campaign... she's been directly attacking Chris Murphy - I like it. Hopefully it will work and she'll defeat Union Goon Murphy - who is only 38 years old - he'll be in the Senate for a LONG time if he wins. I won't hold my breath, though...
Does anyone know how the crucial 5th District race turned out? I think that's the one area where the GOP might have a chance, especially if we run a GOP candidate against the 'RAT crook Chris Donovan. GOP candidate Greenberg is pretty conservative supposedly... I hope he won.

Hi! I agree with you that the Republican Party doesn’t agree with the Tea Party ideals and that is despicable.
Connecticut has turned so far left, because of the growth of the unions, that it is impossible for a Tea Party Conservative to get even close to being nominated for Senator or Representative.
There are areas in CT which are Republican, but the cities take over and Dems win.
I live in CT, it is a tough, hard, slog to cut through the union mentality and money.
Linda has the money to represent the opposite viewpoint to the unions. I support her, the other side I could never support.
I'm a woman, and I've never liked the WWE (formerly WWF). However, I know a good candidate when I see him or her... Linda's a very good candidate for CT (we, of course, have no conservative candidate).
I voted for her today, and in 2010. However the reason Linda didn't win in 2010 was because most of the stoopid women in this state didn't like her because of the WWE, or maybe were jealous of her, as some women can be.
I really hope that changes this November, and Linda wins the seat. God help us if Murphy wins... he's only 38. He'll be in the Senate for a long, long time... :-(

Dems- Elizabeth Esty defeated state House Speaker Christopher Donovan, who had ethics problems, with Dan Roberti finishing third. In a sad event, Roberti’s mother passed away Saturday night.

Repub- Republicans have a chance at winning, as RINO state Senator Andrew Roarback won a competitive, four-candidate primary. If elected, he’ll return the district to the liberal Republicanism of its previous GOP Congressmen (Chris Shays, Stewart McKinney, and Lowell Weicker). You’ve heard of needing a noseplug to vote for some candidates? We’ll I’d need a barfbag for this one, but I’d do it anyway.

Judging from your posts, I would wonder if you watched WWE only during the “Attitude” era. The WWE has gone to a less risque more “PG” type of rating for the past few years.
Also, they without a doubt ar big supporters of the military, and when the Iraq war started the heels were against it and the faces were for it.
Linda’s 2 kids are both married to their first spouses, and I know Linda has at least 3 possibly more grandchildren.
