Skip to comments.ABC’s Jake Tapper: Obama “disses White House press corps” with People, ET interviews
Posted on 08/16/2012 9:45:15 AM PDT by Hojczyk
President Obama hasnt formally taken questions from the White House press corps in more than two months, while on the campaign trail in Iowa yesterday he made time for reporters from People Magazine and Entertainment Tonight.
His last news conference was at the G20 in June, when he answered six questions from three reporters on the European debt crisis, the conflict in Syria, and the notion of politics stopping at the waters edge.
The White House press corps has not formally been given the opportunity to ask questions of the president on U.S. soil since his appearance in the Briefing Room on June 8 ( the private sector is doing fine.)
His last formal White House news conference was on March 6.
Tapper asked Jay Carney when Obama plans to get around to talking with reporters from actual news agencies. Carneys answer? I dont have any scheduling announcements to make.
Actually, Im mystified by the distance that Obama has put between himself and the White House press corps. Theyve treated Obama with a lot more deference than George W. Bush got. Even the tough questions dont usually get follow-ups, and Obama has more or less mastered the art of filibustering to limit the number of questions asked at these events. Why not do more press avails and pressers? Why not arrange an interview with at least a more sympathetic member of the non-entertainment media, such as Brian Williams of NBC, if not a member of the press corps?
It seems like an odd time to antagonize the media closest to the White House and if Jake Tapper is a measure of the resentment building within the briefing room, the incumbent struggling to make a case for a second term might find more skepticism for those arguments than ever.

“O” only speaks to news outlets that use a lot of pictures in their ‘reporting’.
Beause his supporters are not too good at reading?
Guess those Nina Burleighs you guys all wear aren’t working out so well, eh Jake?
“White House press corps in more than two months, while on the campaign trail in Iowa yesterday he made time for reporters from People Magazine and Entertainment Tonight.”
You should see how many fluff magazines have that guy or M.O. on the cover the past few months.
Just saturation garbage.
Why should any press people feel bad? It’s not like they are going to actually say mean stuff about him.
Yet the White Hut press corps continues to show up with their dictaphones and knee pads.
...most not some members of the print media establishment with access to the White House submit their copy to government officials for review, correction and approval before it reaches the American people!...
Latest Word on the Trail? I Take It Back
Joseph Farahs column about the story:
Proof! Establishment media controlled
Funny how the corrupt, lapdog MSM doesn’t say anything. Now, if George Bush did this of course there would be ongoing outraged, high-minded bashing editorials. But with Obama? ...nothing.
I never realized that the White House press corps and entertainment news were different.
They all have the same agenda: propagating for the Celebrity in Chief and his Praetorian Guard in the Democratic Party.
OBlahblha could come out and spray the White House Press Corps down with a hose and they would put up with it. They will never turn on him and he knows it.
Jake, it’s about time you and your cohorts realized that to Obozo, the Narcissist, People and ET! are waaaaay more important media outlets than crummy old newsies............
Let’s face it-—what is supposed to be the most respected leader in the world has done everything but pole dance a strip to be “famous” as a celebrity instead of being “presidential”.
Shed no tears for the WH press corps. 95% of their questions are softballs (to Carney or Obozo) and when someone actually tries to get aggressive (the guy a few weeks ago) with Obozo they don’t defend their collegue.
The MediaPAC is an arm of the marxist DNC.
Oh, the poor press corpses! The useful idiots have become useless.
Gee, I guess that really shows ya what he thinks of his box full of media hand puppets and mouthpieces.
My answer: It’s the “common man” touch. He figures he can reach more likely, and more likely Democratic voters through People and Entertainment than through news clips of press conferences. He may well be correct in his judgement.
Every time he has gone off script (teleprompter) he has gotten into BIG trouble. i.e. "You didn't build that." My grandmother is "a typical white person." etc etc
Wonder if these hacks will ever have any personal pride and get tired of being schills and treated like the lapdogs they are
HA HA HA !!!
