Klein: White House Woos Hillary
nationalreview.com ^ | August. 16, 2012 | Robert Costa

As the Biden-Clinton chatter swirls, best-selling author Edward Klein says the White House has “put out feelers” to the Clinton camp about the veep spot.

Here’s the transcript from CNBC’s The Kudlow Report:

KLEIN: Larry, just before we went on the air tonight, I checked with my sources in the Clinton camp and I took notes because I want to be careful. And here is what they told me: Up until just a couple of weeks ago, the White House was putting out feelers to see if Hillary would accept the vice-presidential nod and replace Joe Biden. Bill Clinton was, I’m told, urging his wife to accept the number-two slot. He saw this as a great launching pad for her for running in 2016. But, then, Hillary had lunch in the White House a couple of weeks ago with Valerie Jarrett, Michelle’s best friend, senior adviser to both the first lady and the president. And she told Valerie Jarrett that she would not accept the vice-president spot. The lunch was ostensibly about other matters, but it came up. The vice-presidential thing came up. Hillary felt burned out after four years as secretary of state. But I’m told there were more important reasons for her not accepting.

KUDLOW: Such as?

KLEIN: Number one, she felt that if she were on the ticket with Obama and he lost, she would be tarred as a loser when she tried to run in 2016. On the other hand, if she was on the ticket and he won, and he continued his far, left-wing socialistic policies, she would have to defend those policies when she ran in 2016.

What is incredible to me is that the future of myself, my kids, and my country is in the hands of these Marxist, Democrat Party klutzes. What an embarrassment they are to the nation. All of them come across clownish knaves to the rest of the world. What an awful situation America finds itself in.

Unless Hillary is totally socialist{can’t say she is not}, she will not be on the ticket. Bill and Hill can pick up the pieces for the Centrist Dems {if there is such a thing} after this Fall’s destruction to the Dem Party.

I think we all need to remind ourselves of a couple things...Firstly Obama and Hillary both support the same evils. They are both anti Christian, pro abortion/infanticide, actually celebrate abortion at every level.

They both support the removal of God`s Word from classroom /public square etc.

As for the Clinton “glory years” economy peace time, just the luck of the draw/cycle, nothing more.

Any policy that actually helped , if there were any, were things that Republicans pushed and Clinton kicking and screaming co opted.

JMHO

Some of you actually think Hilary is more moderate than Obama. More clever, maybe, but she is every bit the leftist. Take a look at the Clintons’ positions on issues.

Think Hilary is anything but a lib on Obamacare, illegal immigration, abortion, judges, gay marriage? Give me a break.

Hillary is a dumb as she looks. Palin was on the losing ticket in 2008. The presidency in 2012, was Palin's for the taking, she declined.

Obama has WRECKED the Democrat Party.
The Soros-financed Radical Socialists have pushed out anyone who even THINKS about being a moderate.

If they get the EPIC defeat I expect in November, they will have no one to run in 2016, (Save an Actor or TV News personality), but a 70 yr old Hillary, Barbara Boxer,or Nancy Pelosi.

ALL are getting long in the teeth.

No win situation for Madame Cankles. Can't get on the ticket, can't run against Mittens in 2016.

Honestly, the old broad is probably hoping Webbette gives her some grandkids...

The only scenario I see where running is a negative to Hilary is if Obama wins. Putting aside that he’s an idiot leftist, it wouldn’t be easy to extend democrat rule out to 12 years. People would have liberal fatigue, unless they change the electorate drastically.

But if Obama loses she will have fought the good fight for the party.

Then again if Obama loses you could see Romney reelected in 2016. Life is complicated.

I think they are still working on her to accept. I’m sure Biden is part of the effort.

The Clintons have met their match in ambition, with the Obamas. They will do what is necessary to advance their ambition, but surely Hillary doesn’t want to wear Obama around her neck into 2016 if she really is interested in running for president, but rather must be hopeful he loses to Romney so that the country will have a break and be ready for her in ‘16.

Haggard as she looks, she may be humanized by now and truly less interested, but likely to revive after a four year vacation, beginning in January.

I just can’t imaging a power-hungry shrew like Hillary transferring from SecState to VP and having to chafe in Obama’s shadow for four more years.

For what it’s worth, last Saturday (8/11/2012) in San Francisco I saw a twentysomething guy wearing a bright red “Hillary” T-shirt. He had a lot of luggage with him and apparently was a tourist or some other out-of-towner.

Has anyone suggesting Hillary! as the Dem VP nominee this cycle (let alone the POTUS nominee in 2016) actually taken a look at recent pictures of her?

The best plastic surgeon in the world, with an unlimited budget and working in conjunction with the best hair dresser, makeup artist and dietician/nutricionist, couldn’t handle the task of getting her into presentable shape. Certainly not in time to claim the VP nom, and certainly not after another 3-4 years of mileage on her (for a 2016 run).

Only one person in American history has been the Vice Presidential nominee on a losing ticket and later won the Presidency in his own right--Franklin D. Roosevelt (who was the VP nominee in 1920).

If Hillary accepted the slot and the ticket won, and if Obama did not meet a mysterious demise before Jan. 20, 2017, her chances of winning a term in her own right in 2016 would not be good...after four more years of Obamugabe the economy will be in worse shape than it is now. It's rare for a party to hold on to the White House in three successive elections. That George H. W. Bush won in 1988 was partly because of Reagan's enduring popularity and his successful economic policies, and partly because of the ineptitude of the Democratic nominee.

Klein wrote a book about Hillary.

He called her “... the most deceitful person I have ever met”.

Klein was the chief congressional counsel for the Nixon impeachment - and Hillary was on his committee. She stabbed Klein in the back several times and went over his head at other times, to get at Nixon through impeachment.

What’s interesting too .. Hillary wanted to deny Nixon legal counsel, but she demanded it for her husband when he was under impeachment.

I think Hillary will rue the day she ever runs for another office.

which is another way of saying; Obama doesn’t have a chance, and the dumping of O’Biden would make it painfully obvious that he know’s his goose is cooked; would be an admission to Hillary that she is his only hope... and bending that low is not in his genes. Besides, I rather think Hillary would decline just to watch him twist in the wind.

Hillary might be calculating that Romney is a 1-term president should he win. The economy being that screwed up. Should Obama win, the economy will probably drop off the cliff and she’ll be tarred with it. Better to go for it in 2016 when she can ride in as the savior. The Clinton’s like playing the savior.

Hopefully Romney will beat Obozo and the Old Witch will be too damn old to run in 2016 or 2020.

But this shows the Obozo camp is nervous about “Uncle” Joe.

There is nothing in it for Hillary. She loses big as his vp.

Let’s pretend that she did take it. I don’t think it would mean a for sure win for Obama. At the end of the day he still has to answer for Obamacare, unemployment, debt, etc. She doesn’t fix that or pretty that up in any way. What it does do is to draw attention to her 4 year record in foreign affairs which is pretty bad as well. I think it opens a whole other can of worms.

You’re right about Hubbell being daddy.

I think her looks have improved with age. The moment I saw her, the word “pretty” came to mind, and I had to stare for a few seconds to be sure it was really her.

I wonder what reports like this do to Biden’s morale. Maybe that’s why he’s been screwing up so much lately. He knows he isn’t really wanted any longer.
