Why I Will Vote for Romney-Ryan in November
http://www.freerepublic.com/~mkjessup/ | 17 August 2012 | Mark Jessup (aka mkjessup)

Posted on 08/17/2012 3:40:53 PM PDT by mkjessup

I've been on FR since 2003. Hard to believe next March will be my 10th year here, assuming I don't get zotted for one reason or another, lol

To that handful of detractors who would LIKE to think this is my opus, guess again suckers - I would never give you the satisfaction of it. Now that we have that out of the way, why this vanity?

First of all, I'm posting this in News/Activism not because this is sourced from a network, newspaper, etc., but because I've noticed that nobody else worries about posting their vanities in the 'Personal/Blogger' section, so WTH should I?

Now for the purpose of my writing today: after a great deal of soul searching and I might add, a goodly amount of prayer, I have come to the conclusion that my vote in November must and will be cast for the GOP ticket of Romney and Ryan. I did not reach this decision easily. Even a casual review of my past posts will reveal that I have reviled, ridiculed, lambasted and sneered at Mitt Romney with the best of them. I've posted my own home brewed graphics to the laughs of my fellow FReepers, I have been steadfast in saying 'no damn way' would I ever even consider voting for that liberal Republican from Massachuetts, no way would I reward the GOP elites with my vote after they've pissed on conservatives from sea to shining sea. The Party of Reagan is no more, let no one deceive you. We as conservatives are more at home in the Tea Party, and yet what was for a short while the natural home for conservatives, i.e. the Republican Party is an unfamiliar neighborhood, a place that sometimes looks like the place we remember, but upon a second glance, we realize that everything is different now, everything has changed.

Now there are good and Godly conservatives who in a perfect world, WOULD be viable candidates for the Presidency, there is no need to list them all here, we all have our favorites and we all know who we would prefer to be voting for. Our own Tom Hoefling would be a better President than the miserable Kenyan sonuvabitch that is stinking up the White House right now, hell *I* would be a better President than that despicable usurper and liar, and so would most of you, my fellow FReepers.

Now I can recite (and in the past, I have) endless reasons as to why I could not and would not vote for Mitt Romney. In many ways it galls me no end to have reached the conclusion that my own Constitutional duty is to vote for a guy that I had sworn never to vote for. It really REALLY starches my shorts however I have had to question my own perspectives, my own views and ask myself the question, "can I honestly justify another four years of what one of my heroes Senator Joe McCarthy would certainly have labeled a 'Communist regime'?

I cannot do that. I do not like the presumptive GOP nominee, I do not agree with many of his past positions. However I cannot deny that one and only one of the two major party candidates for President is going to be sworn in next January. It will either be that treasonous little bastard 0bama, or it will be Mitt Romney. Anyone, and I mean ANYBODY, who thinks that Tom Hoefling, Virgil Goode, or any other non-'Rat/non-GOP candidate is going to be sworn in as our 45th President next year, I will personally bet $100,000 against that happening at any odds they wish, because that is how likely it is that NEITHER 0bama or Romney will end up being elected in November. I won't lose one dime on that sort of wager.

So how do I justify voting for the GOP and Romney this time around? Well, some things I do NOT believe about Romney is that he hates America, that he hates our capitalist system, that he wants to weaken our national defense, sell out our allies and reward our enemies. I don't agree with nor support his religious faith. But his belief in the tenets of Mormonism is quite frankly between him and God. Now while it is easy to find all sorts of things about the Mormon faith that fly in the face of basic traditional Christianity, if the choice is between a closet-crypto Muslim in the White House, and a church going, charitable, prayerful Mormon who doesn't cheat on his wife, doesn't smoke dope, doesn't even drink (is that true? I'm not sure but I think Mitt is a tee-totaler), I'm pulling the lever for that Mormon guy.

Picture all of America on a gigantic airliner, streaking through the sky, when word comes back from the cockpit that Captain 0bama has never even flown a plane of this size or any size, he's been reading the instruction manual from a hidden teleprompter on top of the instrument panel, we're headed for a bad patch of CAT (Clear Air Turbulence) and the illustrious fake pilot is going to try and fake his way through that turbulence, and it is a foregone conclusion that "we're all gonna die!" - but up in first class (of course, lol) Mitt Romney stands up and informs everyone that he IS a licensed pilot, and that he can get our airliner away from the turbulence, down to a safer altitude, get us back on the proper heading, and land safely at our destination. He offers to take the controls. SOME passengers question him "have you ever flown a plane like this?" and he answers honestly "no, not quite this size, but I AM a pilot, I HAVE flown in difficult circumstances before, and I've got more skills than that fake pilot up in the cockpit that we are about to crash with". Who the Hell is going to argue against that logic? No other pilots on board. No parachutes. And indeed, a fool and an oaf at the controls of the cockpit. WTF do we have to lose?

And another analogy that I've already posted recently, which is that conservatives need to do what the Western allies did in World War II, they did not particularly like Joe Stalin, in fact they knew him to be a rotten communist sonvuabitch but the "enemy of our enemy was our friend" (or at least a convenient ally) and the GREATER enemy was in Berlin, in the form of Hitler and we needed Stalin and his troops to attack the Nazis from the East, and that is why we sent them tons of lend-lease assistance to help them accomplish that. And what kind of fools would have urged a different course in that war? A course of telling Stalin and Soviet Russia that they were "on their own" and they would receive no assistance from us? Can you imagine for just a moment if Nazi Germany had prevailed on the Eurasian continent, the Swastika flying all the way from London to Vladivostok?

Now having painted that sort of grim picture of alternate history, I think we can agree that for all of Mitt Romney's faults, he is not a Joe Stalin, he may be a liberal but he is no Communist.

Can we say the same for 0bama and his crew of America-hating scumbags?

Now a powerful factor in my decision to support the GOP ticket was in fact, the selection of Paul Ryan as Romney's VP running mate. Now Paul Ryan is nobody's fool. If there was anybody I wanted to have the ear of 'President Romney' it would be Vice President Paul Ryan. Everyone keeps saying "if Romney would just move to the right", well I believe Paul Ryan is the best person to accomplish that task. They seem to have a good chemistry and that bodes well for the success of their ticket. The polls show Romney-Ryan up, and 0bama and the 'Rats freaking and shrieking as their numbers decline.

Now I have myself made the argument in the past that the only difference between Romney and 0bama is that 0bama is driving us to the edge of the cliff at 100 mph, and Romney is going to reduce our speed to a thrifty 55 mph. And even IF that were to be proven true, I'm not in any hurry to reach the edge of that cliff.

Now in closing, I ask the following question: how many of us would clench our teeth and pull the lever for Gerald Ford, or Bob Dole, or any other establishment RINO if it meant the end of 0bama? To get that filthy Communist out of the White House, I would (to paraphrase Sir Winston Churchill) 'consider writing in the name of the devil himself', and so for that reason my friends and FRiends, I will support and vote for the GOP ticket of Romney & Ryan in November, not because everything about it excites and pleases me, but because I cannot be a party to another 4 years of the Kenyan traitor staining and besmirching the Office once held by the greatest President of all history, Ronald Wilson Reagan. I submit that Reagan would vote for Romney. We can be assured that Sarah Palin is going to vote for Romney. So will Newt Gingrich. So will Rick Santorum. So IF I am making a mistake by casting my vote for the GOP this year, I will be in good company.

Thanks for your kind consideration.

Mark Jessup

FRiend, in your allegiance to Mr. RomneyCARE and his
liberal anti-Conservative principles, you answer
few questions. BUT they remain.

And Mr. RomneyCARE is NOT the candidate yet.

Don't play word games with me FRiend, my throwing the lever for Romney-Ryan does not mean that I 'pledge allegiance to the Mitt', it means that I'm voting AGAINST the KKK (the 'Kenyan-Kommunist-Klown').

And Mr. RomneyCARE is NOT the candidate yet.

Share with us please, your views as to how he might NOT become the nominee? He all but has the nomination in the bag and even Ron Paul doesn't have anything left in his bag o' tricks to change that as I see it.

You running because of irrational fear, and throwing your conservative principles overboard because of that fear.

The founders only had 30% approaval during the Revolutionary War, they faced off against an unbeatable British army that was the best trained and most successful in the world.

They didn't run because of the odds or because of what would have been a more rational fear than you have.

I am running nowhere. And certainly not because of an irrational fear.

Instead,I have a very rational fear of two things:

1.Obama getting re-elected and having an irreversible mandate to continue his path of destruction of America.

2.Having to fight a second American Revolution in the future because folks like you refused to vote the Communist clown out when you had the chance.

One other thing--I'll thank you to keep your pyschoanalysis to yourself. That sword can cut both ways.

I agree with you Sam, and up until the somewhat hostile posts of central_va this morning, this thread was pleasantly absent of a lot of the animus that is usually seen in the ABO vs ABR comments. Diogenesis is an old FRiend, I respect them.

Likewise, I respect our Founder's position and no one will ever see an unkind word out of me directed at him.

We are faced with two candidates, one of which will be sworn in next January. It will either be the Kenyan klown, or it will be Mitt Romney. That is reality. Those are the choices we are given. We can vote for anybody we wish, however only one of those two candidates are going to be in the White House come January 20th.

My family works in the Defense industry and believe me, it is already being gutted by the Obama Admin.

I’ve seen some post that the ABOs are using scare tactics and that nothing will happen to our country in just 4 more years. That is flat wrong! Our country is already at risk as Research and Development in defense weaponry is severely being limited and phased out.

Pretty soon, if not already, we won’t be able to compete against nations that seek our destruction. Do we all recall how badly our military was depleted under Carter and Clinton? That was child’s play compared to Obama.

If we don’t get Obama out now, we really won’t survive another 4 years! We simply won’t have the capability.

Romney cares little for national defense. It’s not a subject he cares about. Having him for President will DO NOTHING to bolster defense. He will “reach across the isle in an uncharacteristic bi-partisan fashion” and use defense cuts as a trading card. Expect nothing from a President Romney.

Yes, samtheman’s post #15 upthread is excellent.

And thank you Mark for being willing to speak the truth.

At least with Ryan we have half a loaf on this ticket. I could see the gnashing of teeth and wringing of hands here if we had another RINO on the ticket with Romney.

Ryan has been outstanding, and he has only been on the trail one week today. He has energized the base, jumpstarted Romney’s campaign, has Joe Biden stuttering and gaffe-ing like a fool off his meds, and is making Obama and Jarrett extremely uncomfortable—so much so, Biden may be sent back to DE permanently. Hillary for VP, or someone else other than Biden is still a possibility, because people have to rightly question whether a court jester should be one heartbeat away from the Presidency.

Ryan has also confronted Obamacare and Medicare head on, with no apologies.People are starting to wake up. His expertise and ability to speak clearly and authoritatively on these subjects makes it easier for us to convince other voters to separate the Obama lies from the truth.

I thank you for having the courage to express your thoughts so those of us who share them could speak as well. This election is truly historic, in that there could not be a clearer distinction between two visions for the future of America.

We have lived under one vision for almost four years and it has been a disaster. We have to work to make sure the other
vision is not stillborn, but has a chance to flourish, and rebuild our country in the process.

cv, I have previously stated on this thread that I have no love for the GOP-E.I don’t care if they think I am supporting them or not.

I do love my country, though. Whether the GOP-E goes the way of the Whigs is of no concern to me. I would like to see a new political party based on TEA Party and conservative principles.

Since that is not going to happen in the next 80 days, I am going with the options open to me.

You are in a key state, Virginia, where your vote can make a difference. I would think at least you could vote for Paul Ryan with a clear conscience, but that is your decison to make.

But let’s not get in the dirt with each other over who is the better conservative or Republican or whatever.

Saving the country from a clear and present danger, the current _resident in the White House, is Job One to me.

I personally think that the future of FreeRepublic is in jeopardy if Obama is reelected. Then, there won’t be a ship, let alone a rudder, at all.

Those are wise words E82. If 0bama should be re-elected, how long will it be before the personal information, IP addresses, etc., are harvested from FR by executive order of 0bamugabe, along with other conservative websites sworn to oppose him?

How tragic it would be if some misguided souls in Virginia managed to swing the state into the 0bama column by wasting their vote on Virgil Goode and thereby pull the flush lever on the toilet of history and send America right on down the drain.

But oh, they can sing 'nearer my God to thee' as we all go 'glub glub glub', that'll make 'em feel better won't it?

I appreciate you saying that but could you keep quiet about selling out? OR IS THAT JUST TOO HARD TO DO IN PRIVATE?

You're selling out to Virgil Goode who isn't going to accomplish a damn thing except possibly give 0bama Virginia's electoral votes. As I see it, you've got no business telling anyone to "keep quiet".

Romney cares little for national defense

Well, we certainly know where Obama stands on the subject. I don't picture Romney bowing down to the leaders of other countries.

You sure are fighting hard for Obama.....

Whether you think I am a “sellout” is really quite irrelevant to the issue at hand: namely, what action can we take to get Obama out of office?

As it stands, only the actions of one of us will result in a chance of that happening.

Although we disagree, I can respect your tagline; I hope you can respect mine.

It's not only Palin who supports Romney/Ryan, it's Newt, Santorum, Bachmann, Perry, Cain, literally every single candidate that was considered a conservative by major swaths of people on FR, every single one of them supported by major groups of people on FR; every single one of these candidates has taken the position you so nicely put in your vanity.

Thanks for working through your decision on the forum where all can see.

My thoughts are not very different from yours, though you have reached a conclusion, while I'm still on the outside looking in with mine.

Had Romney chosen someone other than Paul Ryan for VP, I don't think I would be inclined to agree with you about supporting Romney. His choosing Ryan makes my supporting Romney possible.

Sarah Palin made it possible to vote for McShame, but I didn't believe they were all that alike in philosophy or actions.

Watching Romney and Ryan together, I see important similarities between them and, since I respect and like Ryan, this makes me a bit more comfortable with Romney.

Lastly, as an aspiring craftsman, I usually know which is the right tool for the job at hand.

Unfortunately, the tool chest doesn't have the exact tool we need fix what is broken, so we're stuck with the tool the GOPe has given us.

We might be able to make it work, but the down ticket votes and a lot of voter oversight these next few years will increase the likelihood of that happening.

I don't personally know any conservative 'principals' although I remember one of my vice principals Robert Zimmerman who was a dyed in the wool Republican.

Here is what is absurd: you are telling people to "keep quiet" about voting for the only viable alternative to 0bama in the general election, but you are going to vote for Virgil Goode, who is the ONLY candidate who may actually have a shot at tilting Virginia's electoral votes into the 'Rat column and possibly insuring 0bama's re-election.

Are you prepared to live with your conscience if you end up being a part of that?

'May God have mercy on your soul.'

>>>”If obama should be re elected how long before ....IP addresses are harvested from FR by executive order”>>>>>

I have considered this and the many times I have insulted “the one” on FR and in personal emails. Romney/Ryan won't do it but O certainly would do it.

We need to shout that possibility to all those who are too “pure” to vote R/R, especially in states that might be in danger of going for the democrat.

Are you certain Virgil Goode is a conservative? I’m not:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virgil_Goode

This reads like a typical which-way-is-the-wind-blowing politician. He entered politics right after law school and he’s been there ever since. He’s an opportunist, not a constitutionalist and they’re even spelled differently.

He’s a repeat political loser and I suspect someone on the Left is paying for his campaign. He’s doing nothing, but throwing the election in VA to Obama. What’s conservative about that?

This is a goof, not a guy to form a new party out of.

Is this how you think?

Is this the kind of childish game playing that led you to becoming a devoted Romney supporter?

You know that I don’t agree with the Republican governor, and the republican party’s 2008 vice-presidential nominee, on supporting the 2012 republican ticket, because that is the very discussion that you and I are having, right now, my opposition to the 2012 ticket, but I always knew that the republican leader would of course endorse her party’s 2012 ticket, who didn’t.

I don’t even belong to her party, but this waste of time of this interchange where you already know the answers, is childish beyond belief.

Lookee here, I'm not a 'devoted Romney supporter' as you so quaintly put it, I will pull the lever for Romney & Ryan because the alternative is unacceptable and should be unthinkable for any true conservative to contemplate.

I don’t even belong to her party

You don't say! What party DO you belong to then?
