Actually, the pediatrician, who is treating sore throats chronically, has a financial incentive to keep the tonsils in, since it’s ENT that removes them and gets the fee for the surgery, thus supposely removing the nidus for the infections. I suspect he has a particular animus to the medical profession because buried deep in his medical record he has a diagnosis like “drug-induced psychosis” from an ER visit or hospital stay during his days at Columbia that he frets about. But really, he doesn’t know much about anything in particular, so it’s best to attribute it all to stupidity.
