Rudy Giuliani: If Biden Were a Republican Making These Gaffes 'He'd Be Plastered All Over the Media'
NewsBusters.org ^ | August 19, 2012 | Noel Sheppard

Posted on 08/19/2012 10:52:16 AM PDT by Kaslin

Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani said something on NBC's Meet the Press Sunday that is such a metaphysical certitude it should be an embarrassment for all so-called journalists across the fruited plain.

"If [Joe Biden] were a Republican, if Sarah Palin made that level of mistakes, Dick Cheney, he'd be plastered all over the media" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

RudY

DAVID GREGORY, HOST: You mentioned the thrust and the parry of the campaign this week, and Vice President Biden raising a lot of eyebrows talking about how Romney/Ryan would “put y’all back in chains” was his quote. He went out of his way to say there was no racial implication in all that. You've been tough on Vice President Biden. You said he doesn't have the mental capacity should he become president, that he's not too bright. What's the impact of something like this this week?

RUDY GIULIANI: Well, I was astounded by his remarks. When I first heard it, I didn't see -- I didn't see the -- the tape. I just heard it. And I was really startled by it. I thought, “This is a really dumb remark.” And that's why I said he's not so bright, and you wonder. And it isn’t just that comment. I mean, Joe is, Joe is a laugh line on Jay Leno. He's not a vice president. I mean, he's a joke. You never know what he's going to say.

In one week he thought he was in the wrong state, he thought he was in the wrong century, he didn't know that Paul Ryan was a congressman, and of course he said this awful thing. The other three I don't know. Everybody makes mistakes, but Joe seems to make a disproportionate number of mistakes.

And I really do believe, and don't get offended because Republicans believe this, we all believe this, we believe we're treated more unfairly by the media than Democrats. I truly believe if that were a Republican, if Sarah Palin made that level of mistakes, Dick Cheney, he'd be plastered all over the media. The New York Times would go nuts. They'd be raising questions about is he smart enough, what's going on, how does a guy make so many mistakes? Is he fit to be president? That's really why I said it because I wanted to even up the score.

The fact is what Giuliani said was undeniable.

As such, exactly how do today's so-called journalists square this from a professional standpoint?

Or does that even matter anymore?

Democrats have always been able to say and do things that would get Republicans run out of town.

Can you imagine the outcry if Sarah Palin had ever said something this dumb?

Democrats never have to weigh their words. They know if they say something offensive, dumb or untrue their pals in the media will gloss over it, if they even cover it at all. Thanks to Rudy for telling it like it is.

Quayle spelled it -oe and caught hell for it.

As it turns out, EITHER spelling is technically correct, although -oe fell out of common usage about 20 years ago.

No. I think most of us already knew that many years ago.

I suspect Joe Biden will claim ill health and resign from Zero’s team in order to save the Dems the embarrassment of dropping him.

He is certainly mentally ill, so it would absolutely give some credibility to such reasoning.

I mean they went nuts over the spelling of Potatos (or potatoes, both can be acceptable). Biden is doing the equivalent of setting people on fire and the media doesn’t do anything.

And SNL is just a shill for the DNC. Every opening skit they have reserved to bash on republicans. Thought they might have a new one on after the Olympics but they apparently ran an old one, but of course, it’s never Obama. Romney bashing. I’m not in love with the guy but it’s just so transparent. It’s free guerilla warfare. THey are Alinskying the republicans every opening skit, every week.

I swear the last skit poking any kind of fun at Obama was at least two years ago.

If you say Joe’s last name accenting the syllables, you can make it sound like you’re saying “Bye, then”.

Bi den.

And that is what might happen to ol’ Smoky Joe.

Come on, the media still hasn’t figured out how stupid it was for Biden to say that when the stock market crashed FDR went on nationwide TV to reassure the public how he was going to fix things.

I lived in Delaware for 18 years and met Joe a couple of times. He was not too bright then either, but I think he’s gotten worse. Maybe they drilled a little too deep whem he got his hair plugs.

Everyone on Fox News Brett Baier’s show the other day said the media didn’t report anything bad about Biden because he invited them all to his parties. I guess the MSM are cheaper than whores these days if all it takes is a few drinks and cheap finger sandwiches.

“Barack America!”

articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy

“You cannot go to a 7-11 or a Dunkin’ Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent.... I’m not joking.”

Look, John’s last-minute economic plan does nothing to tackle the number-one job facing the middle class, and it happens to be, as Barack says, a three-letter word: jobs. J-O-B-S, jobs

“My mother believed and my father believed that if I wanted to be president of the United States, I could be, I could be Vice President!” —Joe Biden, campaigning in Youngstown, Ohio, May 16, 2012

“I promise you, the president has a big stick. I promise you.” —Joe Biden, citing Theodore Roosevelt’s famous quote, “Speak softly and carry a big stick; you will go far.” (April 26, 2012)

“You know, I’m embarrassed. Do you know the Web site number? I should have it in front of me and I don’t. I’m actually embarrassed.” –Joe Biden, speaking to an aide standing out of view during an interview on CBS’ “Early Show,” in the midst of encouraging viewers to visit a government-run Web site that tracks stimulus spending, Feb. 25, 2009

“If we do everything right, if we do it with absolute certainty, there’s still a 30% chance we’re going to get it wrong.” —Joe Biden, speaking to members of the House Democratic caucus who were gathered in Williamsburg, Va., for their annual retreat, Feb. 6, 2009

“Jill and I had the great honor of standing on that stage, looking across at one of the great justices, Justice Stewart.” –Joe Biden, mistakenly referring to Justice John Paul Stevens, who swore him in as vice president, Washington, D.C., Jan. 20, 2009

Pass it around. This is truly pathetic that this is our VP.

If Palin or Romney or Ryan or even Giuliani had been making such gaffes there would have been a democrat/public outcry for a look at their medical records as to brains. No such demand as to Biden because it is a very sensitive matter. I suspect that as convention time draws near there will be more than just Hillary being asked to replace Biden.

A “teacher” gave Quayle a cue card with the word misspelled. A #ing childish move from the spawn of Carter.

Listen to how he prefaced his idiotic statement that would have even embarrassed the future Senator Blutarsky:
"Part of what a leader does is to instill confidence, is demonstrate that he or she knows what they're talking about and communicates to people 'if you listen to me and follow what I'm suggesting we can fix this' ... When the stock market crashed Franklin Roosevelt went on television..."
(emphasis added, but all grammar and syntax errors verbatim as stated by dopey joe)
So he prefaced his gaffe with a statement that a leader demonstrates that he knows what he's talking about, and then demostrated forcefully that he has no stinking clue what he's talking about.

Katie Couric interview with Joe Biden (she's too IGNORANT to recognize a monumental gaffe)
