Obama the capitalism-hating, liberty-hating, America-hating, godless Marxist/communist must be completely destroyed politically!! To allow him another term in the presidency would be to allow the total destruction of America.
As much as I detest what the Republican party has become, there is no other party on this earth that can come anywhere close to accomplishing what must be accomplished to keep America from spiraling down a Marxist/communist toilet.
Obama and his Marxist government must not only be defeated, they must be crushed and totally destroyed!! We must pray that God Almighty Himself moves Heaven and Earth to rid our government of this unholy, filthy, communist scum that has infested the democrat party, our government and our society!! And we know that God will not do that. He leaves these earthly tasks to us. It's OUR country and if we wish to keep it, we must move the mountains ourselves and do whatever it takes with whomever we have to get the job done!!
America will NOT go down without a fight!! Free Republic will not standby and do nothing while Obama destroys everything we hold dear!!

I'm greatly relieved but angry also that during those months many long time members either left or were zotted. Altura was one, a regular on the Sunday Morning thread. Others were coming close to going elsewhere or just not coming back to FR. The vitriol coming their way just too much to understand and drove many, including myself, to question whether to stay here. I was within a breath of pulling my monthly if not departing entirely.

We have a hot race for the House seat here in CNY. Ann Marie Buerkle, who’s got more integrity and principle in her pinkie than most politicians have in their whole body, is running against Maffei, who she barely unseated last election.
It’s really ramping up here. There’s also an election for a House seat in the North Country (north of Watertown) which had a slpit vote last year which got a dem in. I doubt that is going to happen again.
So at the state level, NY stands a good chance of going red outside all its cities.
I don’t have much doubt, however, that the whole rest of the state can overcome the momentum of NYC in going for obama. If he didn’t get the state, I’d be floored. NY is way too much a welfare state.

I think I have enough fingers and toes to count the number of Freepers who had Mitt Romney as their first choice. Over 99% of us preferred somebody else. So this is not about turning FR into a Mitt Romney lovefest. It is, as you say, all about removing Barack Obama, who is nothing less than a domestic enemy of the United States of America.
I'm going to fight like hell to get the Romney/Ryan ticket elected between now and November and as many Tea Party conservatives as possible to fill our other public offices downticket. But once elected, I am going to be Mitt Romney's toughest critic if he doesn't measure up to the job. And I'm sure I will have plenty of company here with regard to that!
I'm hoping that the Mitt Romney we saw in Massachusetts is not going to be the Mitt Romney we see in Washington. Remember that Romney had to work with a state legislature in Massachusetts that was 90% Democrat controlled. That might explain some of his RINO behavior. Romney will not have this excuse in Washington because he will likely have the House and perhaps even the Senate in his favor.
So I'm hoping that Romney pleasantly surprises us all when he gets in, as he did recently with the Ryan pick. Some might say it's a slim hope. I understand. But it's the only hope we have to go on right now.

I assume you’ve noticed the growing groundswell of posts by we ABOers in the last week or two. I’m one of the early ones too, and like some of the other early ABO posters, I wondered if I was going to be zotted. As much as I feared that, I was (and still am) far, far more afraid of four more years of Obama.
I too have “suffered” the slings and arrows of the rabid anti-Romney crowd (though I must say I haven’t really suffered that much, because I’m finally old enough that I’ve learned to ignore fools and never to participate in flame wars: I never counter-post to a response that is a content-free, emotional, personal attack.)
I HAVE, however, been somewhat amazed that some folks here hate Romney more than Obama because of their “principals”. It just leaves me shaking my head.
On the other hand, it was my intent with my ABO posts, particularly their tone, to try and make people think rather than to excoriate them. I hoped that my posts along with thoughtful posts from other ABOers would start a shift in attitude here, a shift that would result in a turning of the tide, a groundswell of cohesiveness that ridding our Republic of the odious Obama was paramount to all other considerations.
Indeed, I expected this shift, and noticed its exponential acceleration in the last 3-4 days. I’ve seen such attitude shifts here before regarding lesser issues, and I’ve noticed that they can be precipitated by one or a few courageous individuals taking thoughtful contrarian positions. Partially, this is because there are usually many others that feel the same way, it’s just that they don’t want to be the first to expose themselves to the slings and arrows of those who like to attack rather than have discourse.

Regarding some of the comments on Romney’s probable performance as President, yes he is going to disappoint and you will be able to say “I told you so”. Unless he has experienced some sort of recent epiphany, his record speaks for itself. So load up now - if Romney is elected you’re going to have a field day. Just know that any damage inflicted by Romney would be an order of magnitude less than the havoc Obama would wreak.

If Obama is re-elected - the bond markets, credit rating agencies, investors, et al will know that it will be 4 more years of political chaos, nothing on the debt, deficit, economy in a good way and we will sink into a full blown collapse.
Tens of millions of jobless will remain jobless w no hopes. Those going to collge and graduating will remain jobless.
Those of us self employed barely keeping things together will either fall by the wayside or stay in terrible shape, etc etc.
Will Myth fix it? probably not - but there is a better chance w Romney/Ryan than handing over the keys to Obama again simply because we personally dislike Mittens.

I figure our country has almost no chance of surviving four more years of Obama. On the other hand, we’ll probably survive Romney, particularly if we win Congress. It’s really a pretty simple decision.

Thanks for hanging in there, catnipman. I guess I was a bit too embroiled in things to notice the shift as you did. In fact, I was beginning to lose heart last night, wondering if civility would ever return to FR. I must say I was not expecting this post by JR. I’m glad common sense is prevailing. As I’ve been saying:
Romney = philosophical threat
Obama = existential threat
We initiated a policy to tolerate the Marxist-Alinsky radicals and let them rant; not only has it not ceased but was constantly augmented by decades of infiltration and indoctrination. We now have two Americas and a house divided cannot stand, it won't fall but absolutely one will dominate and the other disappear.

We have no real choice if we want to save our country from four more years of the odious fascist Obama. We lost the primary because we are in the minority, and quite frankly, because we haven’t yet figured out a way to become the majority in the face of the monied interests that dominate politics on both sides of the isle.
Nonetheless, Obama is unmitigated evil. Romney at least doesn’t hate (and isn’t deliberately intent on destroying) capitalism, individual achievement, self-reliance, and hard work. That’s enough of a difference for me to hold my nose and vote for Romney.
We DO need to replace it!
We need federal legislation which:
1) Gets the Federal government out of the healthcare provider business once and for all by explicitly leaving it TO THE STATES (per the 9th & 10th Amendments);
2) Repeals the Federal statute that forces emergency rooms to treat patients without cost; again, leave that to the states;
3) Fix Medicare by leaving ALL implementation details to the states.
We have lots of "Replacing" to do. They key is to define it within a conservative, small-government worldview.
