Oh well.....let's see if we can weather this storm

Maybe he can, but he had better get his brain in gear, the MSM will be gunning for the slightest mistake and trying to provoke one.
Damn dumb mistake right out of the gate.

He still didn’t explain how a woman can somehow magically not get pregnant if forcibly raped. He’s a freakin’ weirdo. And now any body who is pro life is attached to this guy’s thinking. Pisses me off.

And there goes the Senate and probably the country with it. This little butterfly’s wingstroke is already growing into a hurricane and is quickly killing any momentum of the Ryan pick.

Good point and I agree. As I said last night, remember who said what is is? How stupid was that and he did not quit.

"what a selfish choice he made."

Akin has put himself first and he will take down other Republican candidates as well. He has given the Democrats a golden gift to restart the war on women meme and we will see it in the polls. Economy? What economy? Now we get to talk about a self inflicted GOP wound. The state GOP needs to haul him into aback room and tell him just how alone he is going to be, but more likely, the bleeding will continue and not only will McCaskill benefit, but other Democrats in close races.

Good luck to him because he’ll be doing it without any national money and no visits from R/R.

I’m more concerned that enough people would stay home and away from this loon that MO is now back in play for Obama.

What pisses me off is that everyone is going to be asked about this stupid comment for about a week instead of focusing on the economy.

The MSM will not let this die. He needs to leave NOW.

McCaskill`s best campaign investment ever. Too bad the idiot syndrome couldn`t have instead struck some candidate in a blue state with a 35-point deficit. It wouldn`t matter then But noooooooo... Mr. Gaffemeister just had to be running for a seat that was actually winnable.

"I'm not a quitter," Akin said.
I love this guy! Another Huckabee, Jindal, Santorum, (and what used to be) Ryan... real men love babies (and their mothers), no matter how they were created or formed.

From what I read here, Mr. Akin still doesn't seem to understand. He says:

“I was talking about forcible rape, and it was absolutely the wrong word,” Akin said, in reference to his use of the word “legitimate” to modify “rape.”

The very NATURE of rape is FORCE..and yet again he qualifies it with "forcible"...I don't get it. I don't understand what he is thinking. If he's trying to distinguish between date rape or that women who aren't ACTUALLY raped but say they were to get an abortion- he's going waaaay too deep into the weeds for a campaign like this. Regardless- he's done a good bit of harm.

Can the GOP expel this selfish prick? I can’t believe how quickly this idiot has destroyed the Ryan momentum. MASSIVE pressure must be brought to bear, including a TOTAL BOYCOTT on ANY donations to him.

Put Steelman in.

Steelman finished third in the primary. John Brunner was the runner-up.

It is way past time for a Republican to show some apine and refuse to quit. A quit is a loss and I bet he will still win. You don’t ever win by quitting. Democrats never quit, just look at Biden.

Not true.

In 2002, incumbent Democrat Bob Toricelli won his primary and was set to be his party's nominee. Subsequently, nasty stories came to light about him taking campaign donations, and it looked like the seat was going GOP.

The Dems pressured him to withdraw, and he did, despite it supposedly being after the deadline. They put up Lautenberg instead, and he won, keeping the seat in the D column.

If you've got a nominee who screws up badly after the primary, getting rid of him may well be the smartest move.

“It is way past time for a Republican to show some apine and refuse to quit”.

...it’s not about “spine”. It’s about common sense. I’m sick and tired of pubbies caving on legislature, healthcare, taxes, you name it. This seat is lost and we can’t afford a lost Senate seat. Especially when McCaskill was 11 points behind! Now we’ll see what happens to that 11 points.
