CNN's Costello: Like Todd Akin, Paul Ryan Might Be Soft on 'Rape' (Here we go)
Breitbart ^ | 08/20/2012 | John Nolte

Posted on 08/20/2012 11:31:17 AM PDT by nhwingut

Now that Mitt Romney has come out with two different statements strongly condemning Republican senate candidate Todd Akin's comments about rape and abortion, the media finds that they will need to gin up another reason to aid and abet Barack Obama in tying these comments to a Romney-Ryan ticket.

To the rescue rides the ever-insufferable Carol Costello.

This morning, CNN's Costello was almost as giddy to talk about the damage the media wants Akin's comments to do to the GOP brand as MSNBC's Chuck Todd (who could not stop smiling as he concern-trolled). After covering Akin's comments, Costello brought on a couple of guests to debate the topic -- one leftist and one conservative. But it wasn't until the end of the segment that Costello played the card meant to tie Akin's outrageous comment to GOP vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan.

What Costello and her left-wing guest do here is attempt to create a new narrative thread for the media to chew on. It's obvious the media will now move into a second phase that ties Akin's stupid use of the term "legitimate rape" to a bill GOP VP candidate Paul Ryan signed on to that uses the term "forcible rape."

Costello is intentionally attempting to create an equivalency between "legitimate rape" and "forcible rape" where absolutely none exists.

Akin needs to be given the Torricelli treatment ASAP. If he stays in, he is poison. He’ll get minimal, if any, support from the NRSC. Neither Romney or Ryan nor any other high profile Republican will touch him with a ten foot pole. He can’t self fund and the Dems will pour millions into the race against him.

This all needs to be made crystal clear to him.

His is a fatal mistake, perhaps even a career ending one.

By this evening, I hope an avalanche of Republicans will distance themselves from him and call for him to step down.
And I hope he gets calls from Romney and McConnell laying out the facts for him.

Santroum artfully handled this verey same question in the primaries. He discussed the Supreme Court ruling that shot down a Louisiana law making rape a capital crime, and asked why an innocent child resulting from a rape should be subject to death, but the rapist be protected by law.

Santorum didn't deny that pregnancy could result from rape, but he boldly framed it in terms of wanting to compound one act of violence with another.

I guess Akin wasn't paying attention.

IMO this is a non-issue, at least it should be as much as a non-issue as Joe Biden’s gaffes are. He misspoke, he didn’t mean that rapes aren’t bad, he meant that some activities of that nature (s3x) are consensual and not true rapes. Some are women crying “rape” when that is not what it was at all. See the lacrosse team down south.

IOW, it is not as likely that a woman would become pregnant under the conditions of an the actual, violent, horrific crime of rape. So the Dem politicians claiming that rape is a “good” reason for abortion is a non sequitur.

Or cares.. If people listened to everything the left wing media was spouting, Romney wouldn’t get a vote.

The national effect of an unknown politician from Missouri saying something stupid, is virtually nil IMO.

Isolate him, cut off his funding, and hope he quits. O’Donnell and Angle saying stupid things didn’t stop us in 2010, and this won’t this year.

The problem is that that idiot Akin "clarified" his statement to "oh, yeah, I meant forcible rape" -- thus opening that door.

And now he says he won't bow out... AAARRRRGGGGGHHHH!!!!!

The last time the Dims were this exercised about rape was when Clinton was accused of committing one.

If he doesn’t bow out, a well organized write in campaign has to be mounted for either Brunner or Steelman.

But if he is an honorable man, and I believe he is (even though he’s a Neanderthal), he will see that he must bow out for the good of his state, the nation, and the cause of conservatism.

McCaskill CANNOT be allowed to win this seat.

Not to worry. Akin is under intense pressure to quit and it appears he's out within the next 24 hours.

I called this last night and was told that I was nuts by multiple people, that this would blow over in "a day or two" and that Akin would still "win big" and that it wouldn't have affect on other GOP races.

Why report the news when you can create the news?

Because people quit getting the news from you when you create it that's why.

CNN takes a dump

He is a good man, most likely in the “state of grace.”
Santorum could always express himself very well, God helped him.

No need of a teleprompter.

Paul Ryan is not an idiot. Nor did he sleep through ninth grade biology. He will be well-prepared for this when the media sycophants try and zing him.
