MADISON Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen and the Department of Justice (DOJ) announced today that they will file a Petition to Bypass Court of Appeals and Motion for Consolidation with the Wisconsin Supreme Court, in each of two legal actions originally commenced in Dane County Circuit Court challenging the state's Voter ID law, 2011 Wis. Act 23. The Attorney General will further ask the Supreme Court to immediately stay each of the Circuit Court injunctions against the Voter ID law in a determined effort to ensure the law will be in place for the November 6, 2012, general election.

Requesting and getting are two different things.
Having said that, I’m sure lib/dem/union sphincters are puckering all over the Badger state and that makes me laugh!
The WI chief justice is a Dem, but a current majority of the justices are conservative. It all depends on whether the decision to take the case is done by the chief justice or the whole court.
Heads up
Its done by the whole court.
Its not a game changer by any means, but a glimmer of hope.
Maybe the DOJ ruling in VA and the woman involved in voter ID lawsuit getting an ID in PA this week will have an effect.
If the Republicans manage to win the white house and both the Senate and Congress this fall, the very first thing they should pass is a national voter ID law. This is the only way to preserve the union for future generations.
I’m hoping that voter ID will be in place by November 2012. The timing is very noteworthy - within a week or so of the dropping of the investigation against David Prosser. That means that the 4 conservative justices can agree to take the Voter ID case and rule on it in a timely manner.
Wisconsin’s JB Van Hollen finally wakes up ping

Perhaps JB started hearing elected officials, as well as voters and talk show hosts, muttering, “When are we going to get a REPUBLICAN AG?”
