I was hoping this was older news but it just happened as the Huckabee show is on 12 - 3 ET.

its so great that he thinks so much of himself to screw everyone else....

And here I am thinking that he won the primary by getting more people to vote for him than anyone else.

Under MO election law, today is the last day Akin can withdraw with no penalties. If he does, a state GOP committee would name his replacement ASAP.

Under the law, he can still withdraw up until Sept. 25, but if he does so after today, he would be on the hook to pay for the reprinting of ballots. The state committee would still name his replacement.

After Sept. 25, he would be required to get a court order to withdraw from the race. Then we’ll be into Torricelli territory. Who knows if the MO Supreme Court would be as agreeable to the GOP as the NJ Supreme Court was to the Democrats.

Akin owes the GOP Establishment nothing after they publicly lynched him. He won the primary fair and square.

Mike Huckabee is also responsible for this fiasco. He endorsed Akin before the primary and has given him airtime on his radio program.

One word from him and Akin would have withdrawn.

Now the best we can hope for is that Akin shuts up about this and does not give more ammo to the Rats. But given his selfishness and ability to insert florsheims to mouth, I am not optimistic.

Finally someone stands his ground(even though I still feel they are gonna find someway to get him to leave). Tired of all the gotcha issues disqualifying ppl from our side. Such hypocrisy.

Also, how do we even know that his replacement is gonna win anyway? GOP Missouri voters might just be royally peeved if he is forced out. We don't know how that part will play out.

He must have a martyr complex and he is going to be completely burned by this. He will find that after he serves as Clare McCaskill’s stalking horse, he will have to become a Democrat, if they will have him.

The media is going to hammer the entire GOP endlessly over this. Every single House and Senate race is going to be adversely affected by this!

Putz. Prideful useful tool of McCaskill.

Who Isn’t Calling for Akin’s Withdrawal? Claire McCaskill & Planned Parenthood.

“Good. He’ll win.”

He? I assume you mean Obama because MO just became a swing state again. If Akin really cared about the unborn he would step aside and support a R candidate who could be elected. Another liberal Dem elected is the worst thing possible for the pro life movement.

Now the GOP will have to hold MA and win all the other tossups to win the Senate... not likely.

Far from shutting up, he's bought ad time for the next 5 days and will continue to apologize.

“Because Allen West has a better chance of winning Nancy Pelosi’s district at this point in time.”

A candidate could be caught with dead hookers and would still have a better shot at winning an election than Col. West would in the People Republic of San Francisco
