“God damn him to hell for his arrogance.”

IF anyone should be concerned about being “damned to hell”, it should be you. Your response is indicative of a unbeliever.

I am a native Oklahoman, now a Missouri resident. It is ONLY for the people of Missouri and Mr. Akin to decide his fate - NOT persons outside of Missouri that don’t vote here. I sent him a donation this morning to encourage him to stay in, because he is genuienly pro-life...not just a lip service only pro-lifer.

And now that he has shown the COURAGE to stay, I will send him more money. I am certain that REAL Conservatives throughout Missouri will do the same. BTW - The only REAL conservatives are those that are moral/socal conservatives first. The rest of you are just posers.

I am confident he will win the Missouri Senate race. Also, I think a great many in Missouri are like me in deeply resenting Scott Brown of Mass. having the audacity to tell a Missouri conservative to step down. IT CERTAINLY GOT ME TO SUPPORT AKIN!

I originally supported Steelman in the primary because of Palin’s endorsement. However, with the viciousness of the attacks on Akin...I’m glad he won, and I WILL support him. I’m pretty much now sick of Palin and won’t follow any endorsement by her anymore. Conservative is as conservative does. Sarah, and a horrific number on FR, have stopped being conservative.....they are CINOs.

Unlike some here on FR that promised to oppose Romney (and other phoney CINOs) to the bitter end....I am a man of my word and cannot be swayed. Supporting Akin is just another way to support real conservatism and oppose phonies like Romney which sell-outs on this forum seem so quick to do.

Another guy who doesn’t comprehend what the article states.

CLIFFS
Article talks about chronic, long term stress having a negative impact on reproduction
Fool runs with it, claiming it is relevant to acute stress from rape.
Other fools join in and act like...well fools.

People will get bored of talking about this like they got bored of talking about Rush calling Sandra Fluke a slut. And what a hypocrite Rush is if he’s saying Akin is too stupid to be in the Senate and stupider than him, when Rush made the one gaffe that’s as close to Akin’s as any Republican ever has when he had SlutGate. Rush’s gaffe was the first battle in the “war on women” that Republicans lost. No question we lost a battle with Akin’s comment by having our focus on it for a couple days already. In order to right the ship we need to realize this is a free country and this decision is up to Akin. We and the party need to unite together no matter what he decides. If he pulls out I’ll back the new candidate and if he stays in, the GOP needs to fully back Akin.

Because, NOBODY was ever discussing whether or not a pregnant woman being raped would lead to a miscarriage.

Yeah, you're right. I wasn't either. You almost caught me there.

Nice try.

That’s a good point and I agree with you. Since he’s decided to stay in they better go all out to get him elected.

Not necessarily.

The NRC and PAC money is limited. Correctly, it will be spent where it can do the most good.

Akin's ill-advised statement and, now, ill-advised decision, has clearly placed the Missouri seat at risk.

If there is another seat that can be more readily won with the infusion of funds, that seat will get the money that would've gone to Akin.

It's not about abortion. It's about winning the Senate -- and Akin is the only person to blame for his predicament.

She doesn't have to take advantage of Akin's mispeak and do the dirty work, FR posters are doing it for her.

If Akin doesn't get out, she won't need to do any dirty work - all she has to do is replay his comments.

So Akin hands the Senate back to Harry Reid because he has a temper tantrum and watches McCaskill win by double-digits, and FReepers are to blame?

He made the idiotic statement and then apologized for it--several times. Did he commit a crime or an indiscretion? Is one verbal gaffe reason to throw your nominee under the bus publicly? The RNC announced they weren't going to fund his campaign if he stayed in. They piled on along with some of Akin's congressional colleagues and George "Maccaca" Allen. The MSM and the Dems have whipped up this hysteria and gullible Reps follow along like mind-numbed robots.

Take a look at Akin's record--97.24 lifetime ACU rating--and his exemplary personal life. A good Christian, father of six with two sons in the USMC.

I hope Akin stays in and wins. He needs our support, not our disdain.

Lord you aren’t too bright, Yes, Russian and French women were also raped and impregnated. And now to you, if they were impregnated, they were mostly bartering or collaborators? Amazing.
And no, not all of them became pregant, just some of them.

Say,,, by any chance are you running for office?

What Akin stated, and what the “adults” have been discussing is the topic of rape leading to pregnancy in the first place, not whether or not raping an ALREADY pregnant woman will cause problems for her.
Once again, where did I say anything about a pregnant woman being raped?
And, as I've shown, women who get pregnant from a rape have a higher chance of miscarriage.

Good God you are just as dumb as Akin.
And you're as deceptive as a liberal.

He's right about this one.

I doubt Charlie Tuna has a crystal ball for November 6. There still is about 75 days until the election. Akin, since he made the decision to stay in, he is going to get a lot of media play he would not have gotten before. He's going to get his message out. The race is not yet lost. He's going on Hannity in a few minutes.

Yep. Claire McCaskill won’t owe him anything either after she slaughters him in the general fair and square. That makes me downright nauseous even typing that :/.

Why will she "slaughter" him? Does the fact that McCaskill voted for Obamacare count for anything? 71% of Missouri voters voted against it in a referendum. Does being on the ticket with Obama help or hurt McCaskill in Missouri? There will be no "slaughter" given McCaskill's voting record.

“He made the idiotic statement and then apologized for it—several times”

You apologize for meaness, or deliberate things, not being dense. If he said the moon was made of green cheese, but apologized, does that make it all better? No, it means he’s a NICE moron.

I'm no defeatist, I just want to win! I want to see Romney in the White House and Harry Reid giving the gavel to Mitch McConnell. Akin's idiotic comments are making both much less likely, and I don't want the selfish decision of a clueless polition in Missouri to srew that up.

I want to win too!

Personally, I believe that he should stay in the race so that is exactly what happens. Maybe he is not being selfish, but believes in Missourians willingness to forgive him for a bone-headed comment, and still vote for a real Conservative vs. Claire The Socialist

I fully agree with you. The dems will seize upon any distraction. If we allow thie ridiculous gaffe to cost us power then we don’t deserve power. We cannot be that fragile. We must stay on the offense and not get sucked into a defensive posture because of a gaffe (that is mostly true). Abortions due to rape are an edge case we should not waste time on. If they want to talk abortion we should talk about partial birth abortion and seize the offense.

Do stop trying to be so deceptive by twisting people's words into things they didn't say.
You've been caught and you won't catch me making a hasty comment to you again as I'm forearmed now and I know to read everything you write in the future much more carefully.

The myopic single-issue so-cons want their chosen one to make his Via Crucis to a slaughter just to prove their “purity” and “real conservatism”.

This is why I tend to dislike zealots of any stripe.

He's going to get his message out. The race is not yet lost.

Look, I'm sure we'd agree on a lot of things, but that's just wishful thinking.

Akin got about a third of the GOP vote in the primary; do you think he would have gotten anywhere close to that if he had mades his remarks a few days before the elction? Of course, not, he would have finished a distant third.

Akin threw McCaskill a lifeline - she was a Dead Woman Walking until he opened his mouth. If he gets out now and she has to run against a non-toxic GOP candidate, we still have a chance to see her lose, and I want to see her lose!
