BOSTON — In another step to distance himself from his party, Massachusetts Republican U.S. Sen. Scott Brown is asking GOP leaders to be more inclusive on the issue of abortion.
In a letter released Tuesday, Brown asks Reince Priebus, the chairman of the Republican National Committee, to drop the anti-abortion plank in the party platform.
“If we are to grow and succeed in all parts of this great nation, we must be a ‘big-tent’ party,” Brown wrote. “There are people of goodwill on both sides of the abortion issue, and we need to send a message to voters that there is room in the Republican Party for differing perspectives.”

For more than sixty years and counting, there is no “majority conservative voters base” throughout all of Massachusetts, and this is the ongoing problem in Massachusetts and throughout all of the “politically bluest” parts of the U.S. and U.S. territories.
Sarah Palin didn’t just suggest that there are good baby killers that should be on our side.
Does sending out an idiot (who thinks women have magical defenses that prevent conception when they are being held down and mauled by a rapist) to argue the case for your most deeply held beliefs endear you to our heavenly father? The pro-life position has sub-30% public support in MA. We need to win the Senate to make any progress on the issue nation wide and Brown is surely better than Obama stalking horse Warren.

I agree. I disagree with Brown on abortion and several other issues. But his record has been infinitely better than Kennedy was or Warren would be. His vote against Kagan alone makes him better than those two choices.
I want to see as many genuine conservatives elected as possible. Still, you have to pick your battles. I think conservatives can do better (far better) than McCain in Arizona, and Graham in South Carolina. But Brown is probably the best we can reasonably expect in Massachusetts.
It really hard for Americans that have been chopped up and dumped in a medical wast pit to vote.

If you don’t want Elizabeth Warren, you have to cut Brown some slack. He represents the people’s republic of Massachussetts, not Texas. Rowe vs. Wade is not getting overturned. The party position on abortion can only make a difference on federal funding.
Why can’t you guys understand that you can only elect a RINO in Massachusetts? They still caucus with with the Pubs. That is very important, even if Brown has to cast votes we disagree with from time to time.

Yep...we need to be pragmatic in this battle in the long war. As soon as we have a reliable senate majority...brown is next to go! We should start looking for a conservative to replace him next go round.
Almost rather have someone like Warren, who is a blatant democrat than Brown, who is a faux republican waiting at every turn to prove his democrat creds.

Exactly, you have to be realistic here. Brown is just about the best you are going to get in Mass. at this time. It’s a hard fact. Plus, MANY people who identify themselves as “conservative” are in favor of abortion in cases of rape, incest or if the mother’ s life is in absolute danger.
We have to pick our battles and continue to show how Planned Parenthood and abortion on demand most hurts those who continue to vote “D” down the line. Push for mandatory 3-D ultrasound and 24-hour waits, for adoption alternatives, for rebuilding the traditional family unit, etc.
It's good there are some sane voices still around here. Lots of folks are so politically blind they'd argue we should run a Huckabee style SoCon for Mayor of San Francisco.
Brown is the best we're going to get in Massachusetts for probably years into the future. It's a deep blue, liberal state. He is going to disagree with the pro-life and socially conservative planks in the party now and again - and he'll do so for public consumption. It is better we re-elect Scott Brown than see Fauxcahontas Warren win a Senate seat.
