MISSOURI: THE 'SHOW ME ANOTHER G.O.P. CANDIDATE' STATE
AnnCoulter.com ^ | August 22, 2012 | Ann Coulter

Posted on 08/23/2012 12:59:59 PM PDT by Clintonfatigued

Akin was not even the clear choice of conservatives. In the primary, John Brunner was endorsed by both Missouri Right to Life and the National Right to Life. Sarah Steelman was endorsed by Sarah Palin. Akin was endorsed by the Democratic Party.

The Democrats carefully nurtured Akin with millions of dollars in campaign money because he was the candidate they most wanted to run against. (Akin thinks all those Democrats voting for him in the primary merely shows that he's got tremendous crossover appeal!)

There's no rehabilitating this guy. It's a waste of money. His comments are going to cost Republicans an easy Senate seat in a moment of crisis for the nation. This one man's stubborn refusal to bow out could cost us control of the U.S. Senate, House seats in Missouri, Senate seats elsewhere and maybe even the White House itself.

Other than that, there's not all that much riding on this.

___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

But this selfish man has decided to play a game of chicken with the Republican Party. He thinks that by stubbornly refusing to step aside, Republicans will be forced to give him money simply because they need that Senate seat.

Republicans should call his bluff. This is no time to be counting on people to check the FEC reports to see that the GOP has cut off his money.

That's a different deadline, i.e., the one for Akin to get a court order to withdraw.

Yeah, I got that after your post, but that "deadline" date had been the reason for my original confusion.

I was just trying to work out some quick solution, for Akin to save face and to bow out as "gracefully" as it is still possible, and for the Huckabee faction to support, or at least not hold out on, a replacement candidate.

Were the pubbies wrong to disavow David Dukes?

Naturally! It's just scandalous how the GOP deserted the wounded warrior David Dukes on the field to face the Goliath Dems all alone. Can you say Circular Firing Squad?

And it's horrific how Wounded Warrior Larry Craig was left to rot by the GOP, twisting hoisted in the wind on his petard in an airport toilet stall. Just one teensy weensy little itty bitty insignificant mistake shouldn't end an entire political career, should it? He had a stellar voting record on social issues -- one of the few Senators to support the Federal Marriage Amendment, so his political execution (EVEN AFTER HE PROFUSELY APOLOGIZED! NO I AM NOT MAKING THAT UP!) obviously had virtually nothing to do with his own actions, and everything to do with Establishment GOP Conspirators. (Look out! Circular Firing Squads incoming at 6 o'clock!)

And don't forget Wounded Warrior Mark Foley, just, er, um, exercising his free speech rights via text messages. Oh no! Yet another circular firing squad! I see them EVERYwhere, I tell you! We're surrounded by them! ACKK!

“The rest of us have better things to do.”

With low level of intelligence you’ve been showing on these threads, I’m not convinced you have a clear handle on what it means to have “better things” to do.

[Jacquerie to DManA]: “If he loses, it will be due to the likes of the surrender monkeys at this forum.”

Are you listenin' DManA? Yeah. Get your tires aligned, boy. :-) But just don't forget that OTOH, if The Evil One M**t R****y, aka He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named - should lose to B.O.Hussein in a few-hundred-vote squeaker (like the election 12 years ago), thus ensuring the movie 2016 becomes a reality many times over, you will nevertheless be severely flamed with righteous cries of outrage if you should dare to blame that catastrophe on "the likes of the surrender monkeys at this forum".

In other words, forget about "Equal Rights for Geese vs Ganders". Before you criticize some GOP nominee you don't like, better verify that their name's not on the "incorrect" G-list.

If enough voters run to the dems over one stupid remark, they were never that committed to begin with. Thus, there was no guarantee that he would win.

I hate it when “republicans” tell people how to vote then turn on the people’s candidate. Then they blame them for their man losing. How ‘bout just once you guys support our guy, Mr. Rove. Instead of acting like a little child and taking your ball and going home. “Screw you guys! I’m goin’ home!”: Eric Rove.

Anyone think McCaskill is paying this guy to stay in the race? It sure would be cheaper than running campaign ads against him.

If it so important to the Republican Party and the Romney campaign to get Akin out of the race have Mitt buy him off. Apparently, he's already done it to get some conservatives to endorse him in the primaries.

I guess I'm too blunt in my language. What's the euphemism that we use for "buy someone off"? Oh, yeah. "Agree to pay off his campaign debts" sounds so much better.

If the runner up isn't first to be picked, they deserve to lose, as they will, big time.

Wrong. Only morons care so much about the losers who lost to loser Akin in the primary.

Well Suckabee has called the GOP “union goons” for wanting to be able to win this election. What an idiot. Everyone seems to be jumping at the chance to prove how stupid they are and are compounding the problem! It’s like Akin sneezed and now everyone is spraying snot everyplace.

Polls, Akin down 10 in the Ras poll and in another one is down 9. I was expecting worse.

I fear those aren’t bad enough to convince him he can’t win (and maybe he can but I’d bet against it).

I never was a Huckbee fan, never watched his boring show. I saw him on Cavuto last week saying he wont blame Akin for the loss of this seat. Maybe I will blame those like Huckbee for the seat then if he loses.
One theory floating around is that Huck is getting revenge on the party for not being supported in 2008. Well Huck is doing pretty darn well $$$$$ over at FNC.

Man Huck is fat.

Did you hear what senate candidate Tom Smith of Penn said?

My mind is boggled, someone teach these morons to change the subject.

A reporter asked him what if his daughter was raped and got pregnant and instead of telling the pig reporter to watch his filthy mouth in lieu of having it shut for him he instead answered the question by saying he “lived something similar to that” when she got pregnant out of wedlock. When pressed he said “Put yourself in a father’s position. Yes, it is similar.”

They (Akin and this guy) believe that women use accusations of rape falsely to get free abortions from Medicaid. How many women even use that loophole anyway? Is hit 10s, 100s, 1000s?

This is something a House candidate may get away with in certain districts, but there is no way that they are going win a Senate Seat or PA or the WH saying that. That is why you see these flare-ups and fingerpointing and backtracking and apologizing. You don't see any of them standing up and making a case for that (no not even the great Paul Ryan.).

The Republican party is certainly making each day Christmas for Democrats with this stuff. Wouldn't it make more sense to make Democrats be on the defensive on their positions instead? Just a thought.

Not happening. I know better. Becoming emotionally invested in races like these is looking for a fast drop.

Possibility A : Obama wins, we lose
Possibility B : Romney wins, we lose \
(but with B we do get a few months after election day to imagine that everything will be better, and gloating, that's always fun while it lasts.)

Wrong. Only morons care so much about the losers who lost to loser Akin in the primary.

Only morons would think that someone who voted for Akins, Brunner or Steelman would all of a sudden vote for someone who wasn't even vetted in the primary. Might as well put "None Of The Above" for the name of the new candidate for all the votes it would gather.

All those wishing for Akin to drop out are missing what is going to happen. The moment the first Republican called for Akin to drop out the fate was sealed of who ever runs in that spot. Doesn’t make a frost bit hill of beans difference if Akin was replaced on day one or stays till the bitter end. The moment that a majority of folks on the Right agree with the folks on the Left it is game over. The Left wins that game every time.

WRONG. You have no idea what you are talking about.

Maybe you can enlighten me with some facts rather than hysterical hyperbole why any voter after voting for either Akins, Brunner or Steelman would all of a sudden vote for someone they know nothing about.

In other words, show me that you know what YOU are talking about and answer the question as to WHY they would vote for yet a 4th unknown candidate after having their vote taken away from them. HINT: Just calling them morons isn't the answer.

If the shoe fits Garybob. Maybe you are different but I'm confident that the vast majority of GOP voters care about the future and the Senate majority and wouldn't be so stuck in the past that they'd be butt hurt (OR CARE AT ALL) if Akin were replaced by someone other than one of the 2 people he beat, neither of whom are ideal. Your suggestion they may then not vote in the election out of some kind of spite is absurd on it's face.

Since the dumb SOB appears to be staying in the race I don't see the need to debate this nonsense with you.

Since the dumb SOB appears to be staying in the race I don't see the need to debate this nonsense with you.

A poll of likely Missouri general election voters released this morning shows that, far from being out of the race, embattled Senate candidate Todd Akin has regained his lead over Senator Claire McCaskill by a 45% to 42% margin, with 13% undecided.

If you don't see the need to debate the issue, then don't bring it up or run to the bushes when your logic is shown to be flawed. I asked you for facts and all you gave was hyperbole...again. The only people around calling Republican voters morons are Democrats... and you.

But you are right about one thing. This is nonsense. You act as if replacing the primary winner with someone who neither ran in the primary or was even seriously vetted by the voters would be ignored (or even approve of) by the primary challengers and their supporters.

I guess you called them morons because in your world they would be too stupid to realize that all their time, work and money had just been made irrelevant by a political machine too cowardly to stand by their candidate.

Most people don't care about inside baseball like that. Any known conservative Republican without their foot in their mouth wins that election, period. The "cowardly political machine" wants to replace Akin because they no longer think he can win the election. Wasting breath about the primary that Akin won that is now way in rear view is like sailing a ship on yesterday's wind.

I see now your POV appears to be that of an Akin should stay in booster, I should have realized, who else would engage in debate on as foolish a point as choosing one of the primary losers being a vital condition for victory (or make that point in the first place, it was too stupid for me not to challenge it bub and I will not play master debating games with you especially now that I know your purpose, be aware that when you make a wacky claim YOU are the one who has to prove it, I do not have to disprove it anymore than I have to disprove the idea that the world is flat or the sky green or that Obama is a good President). And to further clarify in light of your deliberate misconstruing of my remarks it's YOU and you alone that I'm calling a fool, not the primary voters because I KNOW they would be happy with any electable conservative replacement whether they ran in the primary or not.

I question that new poll since it was conducted on his behalf but if he can win I'm glad cause I WANT MCCCRAPSKULL GONE, END OF STORY.

You started the dance, and you act like a child when your hand gets smacked when you are confronted by your lack of understanding of human nature. Grow up, you first characterized the voters who voted for the top 3 winners as morons. When pressed, you cannot articulate a time when a primary victor was pulled off the ballot and a candidate was put on that ballot that was an unknown to the voters and WON. That happens to be your opinion, I think you're wrong.

You call voters who you don't like "morons" and people like me who disagree with you "a fool". Remember this: Vitriol is the language of those who cannot defend their position.

If you don't like my replies to you, then don't reply. As long as you direct replies to me, I will continue to call you to task for it. This isn't Facebook, so deal with it.
