Lots of people are evidently from the ‘turn your brain off at the door’ school of principled thought.

As I said yesterday, Brunner and STeelman would need to huddle with the state cmte. and work things out PRIOR to any announcement. Otherwise, food fight! And we do not need that.

Not sure what I would advise Ann W to do. I think she'd hammer Ma. Being a small time gambler? I'd say,"Go for it honey!"

Yes, I am from Wisconsin. I can tell you with boots on the ground there is precisely one Romney sign in a yard in my neighborhood. The good news is there are zero Obama signs. You call that winning. I call that disappointment. Four years ago, the lawns were littered with Palin and McWhatshisname signs. I had one in my yard as well. Sputter all you want about it, but those are the facts. Even if Ryan was on top of the ticket with Romney beneath him, Wisconsin would be outside of the margin of error for that ticket. But he's not. And they are not. And that's a fact.

I think the threat of that would keep Carnahan in line.

Do you hear me laughing.

Add Rush Limbaugh to the list of villians. Sandra Fluke is speaking at the Dem Convention.

Maybe the Reps should have been a little less vocal and public in their piling on of Akin. This was a massive orchestrated effort by the RNC to get rid of Akin before the Tuesday deadline. It was a big gamble that backfired on them. The GOP made this a much bigger issue than it had to be. Romney and Ryan should never have got so involved. Hell, here in VA we had George “Macaca” Allen condenming Akin for his verbal gaffe. How is that for chutzpah?

IMO Todd Akin was too conservative for the Republican Party.

Bingo

You are nothing if not optimistic! If it comes down to Akin v. Ma? I’ll take Akin anytime! We (Republicans) would be fools not to.

I live in the Bronx, N.Y.C.

There is almost ZERO obama stuff anywhere.

no Romney stuff, but no obama stuff either. Its bizarre almost and one would not even know an election is coming.

Akin ran a state-wide race to win the primary.

On that, you and I agree completely. By this time my circles are generally buzzing about politics. Very quiet this time around. My take is that both camps are very concerned for, and disappointed with, their candidate.

Steelman would be a no go. Palin didn't energize her in the primary and she couldn't in the general. And she is not really popular with conservatives here.

Wagner is the only choice but if you were her would you sacrifice a guaranteed election to Congress for a fight and a gamble against a seasoned pro.

Akins haters: keep stabbing him in the back. You apparently can’t see the blood you are getting on the whole party and yourselves. You are so blinded by your hate, you can’t see the harm you yourself are doing. You want Akins out, you’ll lose the election, if you haven’t already. In or out, the liberals will attack him. They will attack anyone running against Obama, even if they have to make it up. Do you really think there will not be another story blown out of proportion next week?
The RNC and hateful remarks like on this thread (that is all it was meant to be-dump on Akins and his supporters) will be what causes many in the base to walk Remember we are the ones who stand outside the church property and make sure everyone is registered to vote and hand out voter guides. We did that because of our faith & we believe all abortion is wrong and that homosexuality, especially pushed on our kids is wrong. We don’t do it for the party. We do it for our kids and because we obey God. Our convictions motivate us, not hatred.

Also remember this is a conservative site, not a republican site, ask Jim. I do think of him as a wise person (read some of his articles) who sits above and watches everything going on down here. He is a humble man and would not accept the “wise” label, but he is.

“The only people attacking Akin are Republicans — we eat our own. Akin can still get off the ballot, but he can’t be replaced — assume all of you naysayers would rather McCaskill run unopposed?”

Akin can get off the ballot and he can be replaced if he does so by Sept 25.Apparently Obama moving ahead in the Missouri polls statewide is sending a message. Even it Akin could not be replaced, yes, I would rather see McCaskill run unopposed rather than lose nationally because of him.

Yes, I agree it will all blow over. After Nov. 6. Until then it is Hurricane Todd being used at the RAT convention and in races all across the country. It is not fair what is happening to him, but the damage he is doing is incalculable. If you were 100% convinced that Brunner or Steelman would beat McCasKILL, would you urge Akin to defer to one of them?

I’m not kidding - I am in Bronx and lower Westchester County N.Y. and there is NOTHING

Maybe a few 2012 stickers here or there in Mt. Vernon or on some crunchy Libs’ prius, but nothing else.

No tv ads, no radio ads, no billboards, ZILCH
