Embattled Senate candidate Todd Akin just told reporters in Chesterfield that he is staying in the Senate race against Democratic incumbent Claire McCaskill.

Akin repeated the kinds of statements he'd made previously to national media, asserting that he's never had the support of the Republican party establishment anyway. [...]

You don’t get it. It’s not about MO anymore. Akin is proving to be a drag on the NATIONAL ticket. If you can’t see this, you’re part of the problem.

Whereas I feel a tinge of sympathy for my republican friends -- I know how they feel having taken one on the chin myself with Romney in the primary season -- I still rejoice with my conservatives friends. This is truly a victory, one I believe will be repeated in Missouri in November.

Great.
Six more years of that arrogant, condescending McCaskill.

Yep, this is terrible PR. Another one who invested so much so he gives himself the right to stay on, even though he screwed up. They just do not want to own to their mistakes. It’s not about what he said, really, it is about HOW he said it, and it came out as hijacking the issue of abortion for political points instead of presenting the whole issue with the consideration it deserved on its own merits.

>> “Also I am officially done with weak kneed RINO’s, cry babies and drama queens on talk radio (Rush, Levin, Hannity, Beck, Ingrahm, etc.). These a-holes have done the work against Akin for the DNC. They are traitors as far as I am concerned.” <<

.
They had their instructions from above and followed them to the letter.

The GOPe, and the DNCe are all a part of the same club, with the same ultimate goals.

I’m a virgil goode supporter, and I am because Romney is a radical liberal whom I never could support.

Akin is a solid, pro-life conservative as evidenced by his track record as a legislator.

He’s the primary winner. He has my support.

“If Akin were to drop out, the GOP will lose that race anyway.”

Absolutely!

If you add the 9% who want a last minute change, he is one point away from tying. The GOP can not agree on a replacement and it would be a disaster. The GOP needs to shut up and let this guy win. Instead they want to tar and feather him for one comment. The pc crowd is alive and well.

I voted for Akin for the House. I voted for him in the Senate primary. I like the way he votes in Congress. But I had no idea how clueless he is, what a bad communicator he is, and how sealed off in an echo chamber he is. I hope he can be persuaded to withdraw by September 25, but it looks increasingly unlikely that that will happen, even if he falls 30 points behind in the polls.

However, if Akin is the only alternative to McCaskill on November 6, I will still vote for him. And, after September 25, I may even get a yard sign and a bumper sticker. Here's how I may have to persuade people to vote for Akin: "Look, he may be a doofus, but at least he's better than McCaskill, and he may give us a Senate majority, and he will push the button the right way on votes--repealing Obamacare, for instance."

I’m actually okay with this although I agree that he’s an idiot but he’s our idiot and we can survive this. It brings the discussion and we need to have the discussion.

Get with the program guys, you are being USED...
But the bigger issue is this. You want to disqualify Todd Akin for being wrong about a tiny biological issue. Don't you think we should disqualify Claire McCaskill for being wrong about fundamental economics? She's such an idiot, she doesn't understand that high corporate taxes drive businesses out of the country, that massive regulations destroy entrepreneurship, that government debt dries up the pool of money available to loan, so businesses and individuals find it harder to secure investment capital. Claire McCaskill doesn't understand any of that. She doesn't understand how the economy works, how businesses start, or thrive, or collapse, she doesn't understand how insurance works or even what insurance really is. She doesn't understand what damage Obamacare is already doing and will continue to do if fully implemented. These are the disqualifications for a Senator. Todd Akin is wrong on something with NO bearing on his job, but Claire McCaskill is wrong on virtually everything that does have bearing on her job. John F. Di Leo, Illinois Review

Go, Todd, go!

>> “ I am still pissed at him simply because it played right into the left’s hands and gave them the Macacca moment of the campaign.” <<

.
Only because the GOPe went along with it. Hannity and Colter did way more damage than Akin did.

I'm from the conservative group that planned to put in conservatives to control the Senate and House so that a RINO like Romney would not have free rein over the government.

The Akinites (outside of Missouri) are part of a group who wants Obama re-elected to teach the GOP Establishment a lesson.

In a nutshell, their goal (whether they know it or not) is to make ObamaCare permanent and make his infanticide the law of the land.

Perhaps it's their version of fast and furious only instead of guns it's abortion clinics and instead of Mexicans it's American babies.

After that step they can hold up the graphic evidence and prove that they were right"

Always remember, the extremists on both sides end up meeting at some point.

"Which man said something stupid about rape and which man is an actual rapist."

No one thinks the 'toon's going to rape them, or anyone else. They do think that fool Akin and his chorts will force raped women to bear any forced pregnancy that results, at gun point. They don't need a friggin' billboard for that image. They're going to need powerful medicine to wipe that image out of their minds.

If the mentally-challenged Gop-E and their sheeple will quit trying to stone Akin to death, he will do just fine.

“If Akin were to drop out, the GOP will lose that race anyway. No way they can get a candidate in there that can clean up the mess and win in two months.”

Completely untrue. Other candidates were polling well above McCaskill just 2 weeks back, and Brunner and Steelman both have campaign ready to let her rip and win.

“If Akin drops out, we lose this one by concession.”
Wrong. the MO GOP puts a standin to replace Akin, most likely Steelman, another primary candidate. She beats McCaskill easily.

Akin’s comment was such a big gaffe he is unelectable

” If Akin in stays in and loses, then ...” ... WE LOSE.

” If Akin win,...” WONT HAPPEN. He is down 10 points now and has horrible favorables. Akin is toast.

I pray God guides my labor such that the fruit I bear pleases Him. I gather you think Obama is going to win Missouri? I disagree, though I am no fan of Romney's.

>> FR’s Society of Saint Todd.

Maybe there’s some of that, but the abject rejection of what he stands for, and has voted for, is far worse.

No uniform tolerance for the linguistically challenged.
