A look at the ACU’s website shows a representative with a 97 percent lifetime rating through 2011. Yet there are some here who are ready to throw him under the bus for poorly stating what others have pointed out is a defensible statement.

This board is littered with ABOs who support the worst Presidential candidate the Republican Party has ever fielded solely because he’s not someone else. Where are the ABMcKs?

Or is it just conservatism they can’t stomach?

It is looking more and more like “conservatism they can’t stomach”.

Excellent summation.

Judging by this comment, you probably are voting for Obama

Why, yes of course! I mean, Obama never lied a day in his presidency. < / sarc

Interesting analogy you made with the implication that Obama is better than Romney. I'm not surprised. Refer to some of my past comments a couple of days ago.

The problem is if we're talking about "stress infertility" instead of "USA fiscal infertility", we've lost.

This! One thousand times over!

The Democrats sure as hell don't want to talk about the faltering economy and lack of jobs and thanks to idiots like Akin, we're not. Every candidate running with an (R) after his name is going to have to field questions about "legitimate rape".

A simple "As my voting record reflects, I'm 100% committed to life. Let's move on." would've been sufficient. It's an answer countless other elected officials have given. But no, Akin stepped in the minefield that McCaskill laid out for him. She certainly got her money's worth.

“When a warrior has fought hard on your side for a decade you don’t abandon him over one error”

So the man is more important than the message? This will cost the conservative movement a senate seat, and that is too high a price to pay for an “error” as you call it.

He is now the poster boy for all those who want to categorize pro-life supporters as backward, neanderthal, redneck, Bible thumping, ignorant fanatics.

Thanks Todd.

“The vast majority of Republicans will still vote for him. So he’ll only lose by 15-20 points. If the Republicans desert him, it will get worse.”

This is the cold hard political fact, and facts really do matter in an election.
That far down in the polls, there will be no money coming in, and also none from the state or national GOP.

Face the facts: Akin is a dead man walking.

We’ve been over this.
Yeah, and you keep running from it!

He played footsie with the Democrats during the primary.
So what could he have actually done that would cause McCaskill to stop running her ads?
If he asked her to stop running the ads would she have complied?
If he told her to stop running the ads would she have complied?

Just what is it exactly that you think he could have done to successfully get her to stop running the ads?

When people can't freely express their opinions it is a serious matter. Why isn't an apology sufficient? Why make this into a career-ruining incident? Akin didn't say “rape is ok,” and everyone knows exactly what he meant. Akin told Huckabee that he "misspoke one word, in one sentence, in one day." Wait until it happens to you.

Exactly!

You know the issue isn't what the evil mccaskill does or says, it's what Akin did and said and continues to say ~ he has yet to criticize the Democrats for intervening on his side in the Republican primary.

All he needed to say was 'They be bad' and he didn't bother.

If anything will get establishment types to stop the madness of open primaries, it'll ne Democrats crossing over to vote for the social conservative.

It's supposed to elect more moderates dang it. No fair, no fair, we wanna do-over, lol. Petulant children putting on airs.

Is the author of this article the same Rachel Alexander who is appealing the State Bar of Arizona’s decision to suspend her license for unethical conduct?

If you don't like the message then "shoot the messenger"?

People need to accept the fact that Sarah Palin is a mere mortal and not everyone she endorses deserves to win.

In 2010 she endorsed Brian Rooney (brother of Tom Rooney) here in Michigan. Rooney was the candidate backed by the establishment and even moved here just a few days before filing paperwork. I backed our defeated former congressman and he won both primary and general election. This year the democrats aren’t even putting up much of a fight. I’m not mad about Palin endorsing the guy, its what politicians do but I’m not going to agree all the time.

I like Sarah Palin just fine but its her supporters who are rabidly out of control. I personally think she’ll never run for president because she knows she could never live up to expectations others have put on her.

A shame that Akin had to cave to them with his apology tour which continues as we speak instead of sticking by what he said.
Do you have a transcript of his "apology"? Or would you like me to post what he actually said?

Don't you think it is up to the voters of MO if they want to vote for Akin and not to you?

And muawiyah, no matter who it is, you bitch about every candidate. None is to your satisfaction. So just don't vote, but don't ell us not to

My point is that the media think they have found a winning strategy: just follow a conservative around until you provoke him into a gaff. Then the rest of the repubs will throw him to the wolves.

Don't you get what she meant to accomplish by calling him "too conservative" in the middle of a GOP primary?

Since you haven't stated it then I'd sure like to hear your opinion on what you think she was trying to accomplish.

He should have run for the House again and let the Conservatives fight it out.
So it's your contention now that Akin isn't a Conservative?
