Ryan Roars: Paul Ryan's Speech at Republican Convention Will Frame Election
Catholic Online ^ | 8/30/12 | Keith A Fournier

Posted on 08/30/2012 5:34:44 AM PDT by tcg

Paul Ryan gave an acceptance speech which ...upped the ante. It lectrified the convention and established him as a force for the future...

It... sent shock waves into the Obama-Biden Camp. Anyone who watched that well delivered speech - and witnessed this man's capacity to articulate his positions clearly, compellingly and cogently - while inspiring his listeners and drawing such rounds of appaluse- will, along with me, welcome the upcoming Vice Presidential debate between he and Vice President Joe Biden. This so called "wonk" is also a formidable political weapon. This debate will be one for the history books!

Ryan's opponents efforts to demonize him and think they can deflect the American public from listening to his considered positions on the vital issues and challenges we face as a Nation will not only fail, I now believe they will backfire. Ryan's demeanor is warm, human and real - a refreshing change in a political atmosphere polluted with vitriol, vapid detraction and denigration.

He lifts up the listener while he speaks truth to a Nation struggling through a desperate hour. He gives the listener hope that they, with good and effective leadership, can actually rebuild the American promise and re-secure the American dream for their children. In short, he dispenses hope in an hour when it is in short supply. That was one fantastic speech.

As I have expressed in the past, authentically Catholic and genuinely Pro-Life, Paul Ryan not only knows Catholic Social Doctrine, he maintains that he actively seeks to integrate the principles it offers into his own public service and the policy proposals he offers. His ability to do just that over the coming weeks will shake up the Catholic discussion over what truly furthers the common good in the social arena. It needs to be shaken up...

Exceptional speech and yep I am proud to be a Catholic, conservative, American, father, brother, son, husband, FREEPER and so many other things. Last night really gave me a lot of hope that Ryan may just be what our country needs for the future. It is crazy that he is 2 years younger than I am and has such a great vision for the country.

I expect Biden is going to “have a heart attack” or something pretty soon, and retire.

After that speech, I doubt anyone will want to step in to replace Plugs.

And the rest of the team that spoke also gives great hope

There are some fine accomplished governors out there who put many in congress to shame.

Joe will call in sick for the VP debate.

If he were to do that, Ryan ought to challenge the president in Biden's place.

Even better!

-——There are some fine accomplished governors out there who put many in congress to shame-——

Governor Susana Martinez.......” I turned to my husband Chuck and said....... we’re Republicans”

That was a great line in a terrific speech. By implication, Hispanics need to come to that very realization....... they are really Republicans.

Indeed. Ryan, Martinez, Rice - young, Pro Life, movement conservatives really just shame the racist, hateful, degenerate, moral equivalency democrat brand.

I have NOT watched a convention for donkeys’ years. This one sort of crept up on me...and my curiosity compelled me to watch.

I feel that everyone was articulate, everyone spoke with unfeigned conviction and a natural enthusiasm. How could they do otherwise, with the train wreck “O” has handed us?

Every speaker avoided the kind of strident and doctrinaire approach that would certainly have been an easy mistake to make, given the situation in which this administration has put Conservatives.

Without being gratuitously critical (though, criticism is certainly warranted) all the speakers put the record straight on “O’s” outrageous end-run on the US Constitution, on “O’s” perpetual insults to middle-America, on his formless and inert administration, on his cowardly and indecisive foreign policy agenda, the broken promises and the ruinous bailouts, etc. It was all there!

Especially:

Martinez: “I’ll be damned, we’re Republicans!”

Ryan: “…everything is free, except you.”

Rice: Her dramatic emphasis that Americans should NOT demonize success!

Paul: Yes, you did build that!!!

I am glad I tuned it.!

More than anything, it emphases how much work has to be done and how far America has yet to go before the damage is reversed.

Sarah Palin made mincemeat of Biden in the 2008 debates, but the media played her as being dumb, uninformed, a stupid hick from Alaska etc. while Biden was portrayed as know legible, had years of Washington experience, personally knew foreign leaders etc. Don't think that the media won't do the same hatchet job to Ryan even if he very likely makes Biden look like a blithering idiot.

Exactly what I was thinking. I think Slow Joe is due for a major "health issue" before that VP debate can take place.

He said that his digital playlist runs “from ACDC to Peppelin.” Doesn’t sound like a sherry-and-harpsichord conservative.

Joe will become incapacitated and will be wheelchair bound, and Obama would be kind enough to take a stroll with him (like the PR granny in wheelchair over the cliff ad).
