Ryan Roars: Paul Ryan's Speech at Republican Convention Will Frame Election
Catholic Online ^ | 8/30/12 | Keith A Fournier

Posted on 08/30/2012 5:34:44 AM PDT by tcg

Paul Ryan gave an acceptance speech which ...upped the ante. It lectrified the convention and established him as a force for the future...

It... sent shock waves into the Obama-Biden Camp. Anyone who watched that well delivered speech - and witnessed this man's capacity to articulate his positions clearly, compellingly and cogently - while inspiring his listeners and drawing such rounds of appaluse- will, along with me, welcome the upcoming Vice Presidential debate between he and Vice President Joe Biden. This so called "wonk" is also a formidable political weapon. This debate will be one for the history books!

Ryan's opponents efforts to demonize him and think they can deflect the American public from listening to his considered positions on the vital issues and challenges we face as a Nation will not only fail, I now believe they will backfire. Ryan's demeanor is warm, human and real - a refreshing change in a political atmosphere polluted with vitriol, vapid detraction and denigration.

He lifts up the listener while he speaks truth to a Nation struggling through a desperate hour. He gives the listener hope that they, with good and effective leadership, can actually rebuild the American promise and re-secure the American dream for their children. In short, he dispenses hope in an hour when it is in short supply. That was one fantastic speech.

As I have expressed in the past, authentically Catholic and genuinely Pro-Life, Paul Ryan not only knows Catholic Social Doctrine, he maintains that he actively seeks to integrate the principles it offers into his own public service and the policy proposals he offers. His ability to do just that over the coming weeks will shake up the Catholic discussion over what truly furthers the common good in the social arena. It needs to be shaken up...

"We can do this," the best line in the speech.

As long as these people address and act on issues of the economy, freedom and privacy they will win big time. And by freeing people and protecting privacy the economy will win and the safety (not security) of the country will be better assured.

Ryan was impressive.

Loved the “staring at faded Obama posters” point.

He appears to be a good man.

Biden will have the questions well in advance of the debates. But even with that cheating, he will resort to making up things, and the fifth column enemy, the media, will dutifully defend his lies and errors without being ashamed of any of their fellation.

RE :”He appears to be a good man.

??? He's just like the rest. He is just more dynamic and a more motivating speaker than Romney is or GWB was, and that doesnt take much,

Watching him and Biden could be fun.

If he makes it to VP moments like that will be history, maybe till the 2016 campaign if lucky..

We don’t have to start thinking his election is the second coming, we just unfortunately have to vote for him but we don’t have to like it and turn his Ryan pick into some fantasy that it is all just so wonderful.

Not me anyhow.

____________________________________________________________

Wardaddy, you are not completely right. You are wrong when you say “Problem is that is not Romney nor the GOP leadership now.” I can assure you that every word that is spoken from the podium at this convention is approved by the Romney campaign. Romney is the reason for the lack of red meat. I don’t like it but I understand it, it might work.

Despite what Romney is we will vote for him, yes you are right about that, but, Romney has done something wonderful for all of us in selecting Ryan. Ryan will likely be the next president after Romney, he will possibly be a much better president than Romney.

There is much to dislike about Romney, his history of liberalism is chief among them. Romney is however a good man. The press and the Democrats will not be able to find moral indiscretions in his life. There won’t be any last minute drunk driving charges or drugs in college or girl knocked up or girlfriend having abortions to threaten him with. One of the things Ryan said last night and said like he was surprised to learn it was that Romney was a good man.

Obama is worse than Carter. Obama wants the country to go down. Romney is not Regan. He never will be but, he is every bit as well organized as Regan, he is as good a man as Regan and he is likely as smart as Regan. If he does half as well as Regan and paves the way for Ryan I think we will all be very pleased.

You need to reread my reply...nowhere did I write what you are attributing to me...in fact quite the opposite of that

But, but - you just wait - the democrats will be talking about “reproductive rights” for 3 days.

Really? Really?

I guess so! I heard this morning that Sandra Fluke will be getting a prime-time speaking spot. This is a woman who passed the entrance exam to get into Georgetown but is too stupid to figure out she can buy her birth control for $10 at Wal*Mart.

What it boils down to is:

RNC: You can do it.

DNC: Give us what you got.

Actually, Blair House is the official White House guest residence across Penn Ave on Lafayette Park.

The VP and family live in the Vice President’s Residence/Mansion, which is on the grounds of the US Naval Observatory, which is several miles away up Mass Ave NW.

It won’t matter, because in the debate, Biden will get softballs and they’re throw asteroids at Ryan.

Well Romney did a smart thing announcing the Ryan pick early - over two weeks before the convention. I think that caught the Obama campaign off guard and by the time they mounted their attacks, Ryan had already made his first impression on the American people and assumed the offensive by turning the Medicare issue against Obama instead of the other way around. So coming into the convention, the Ryan pick was already old news and he has established himself as a formidable running mate.

Thus Romney-Ryan are going to come out of this convention with all the momentum and Obama is going to have to do something spectacular to get back in the game. Such as dumping Biden for Hillary or going to war with Iran (as he very well might do if his re-election is on the line).

Good news is that I don't think even Hillary or Iran can help him at this point. Dumping Biden will be a sign of desperation and going to war with Iran will piss off a lot of his base.
