University upholds study finding children do better with straight parents than homosexuals

AUSTIN, TX, August 30, 2012, (LifeSiteNews.com) - A Texas university has determined that “no formal investigation is warranted” against a professor who published a rigorous study this summer finding that children of heterosexual parents fare better in many respects than children of homosexual parents.

The University of Texas at Austin announced this week it would not pursue allegations against associate sociology professor Mark Regnerus an article published in the journal Social Science Research in July.

The announcement came in response to LGBT activist and blog author Scott Rosensweig, who had accused Regnerus of crafting a study “designed so as to be guaranteed to make gay people look bad, through means plainly fraudulent and defamatory,” and of “harbor[ing] anti-gay prejudices” because he is Catholic.

The study unearthed alarming disparities between the two family models, from suicide attempts and unemployment rates to sexual abuse.

One statistic found children of lesbian mothers are nearly 12 times as likely to say they were sexually touched by a parent or adult as those raised in intact biological families. Asked if they had ever been raped, 31 percent of those raised by lesbian mothers and 25 percent of children raised by gay fathers answered yes, compared to eight percent of those from intact biological homes.

Regnerus had noted that previous studies on the issue suffer from considerable sample bias, including the widely noted National Longitudinal Lesbian Family Study, which drew its information from volunteers responding to advertisements targeting lesbians.

Regnerus based his study on a large random sample of American young adults from the data collection project New Family Structures Study, and unlike most others, uses the responses of children rather than parents.

The study also found a correlation between a young person’s upbringing and his or her later sexual orientation. While 90 percent of respondents from normative households identified as “entirely heterosexual,” only 61 percent of those raised by a lesbian mother and 71 percent of those raised by a homosexual father reported the same.

In a press release Wednesday, university officials said an advisory panel’s report concluded there was insufficient evidence to pursue Rosensweig’s allegations, noting that it sought the counsel of Dr. Alan Price, former associate director of the Office of Research Integrity in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, who independently agreed the investigation was conducted properly.

“As with much university research, Regnerus’ New Family Structures Study touches on a controversial and highly personal issue that is currently being debated by society at large,” said officials. “The university expects the scholarly community will continue to evaluate and report on the findings of the Regnerus article and supports such discussion.”

And the University of Texas at Austin also confirmed today that fire can burn, and that water is indeed wet.

Yes, but that isn’t stopping gay agitator Scott Rose from filing more ethics charges. Disgusting.

Right - why is what’s good for the goose never good for the gander? Pro-gay studies are always linked with pro-gay scholars and institutions. It suddenly becomes suspect when it happens on the pro-family, social conservative side?

Unfortunately it is already beginning: Gay rights agitator Scott Rose is already pushing his ethics complaints. Our side needs to push back harder and the internet can inform better than MSM news anyway.

You are right. The media basically reflect the brainwashing that Leftists in Academia have been offering students since at least the 1950s. For some leading examples, Myths & Myth Makers In American Higher Education.

Of course, the conclusion of the subject study, here, obviously conforms with what any rational person would expect. Human sexuality is important--it is the key to any human future--obviously. Being raised by adults who have misdirected impulses, in something so vital to anyone's development, would obviously be a very great impediment.

Only brainwashed human sheep would consider this finding even controversial.

Those numbers all seem high by a factor of 10 or more. Maybe I have just lived a sheltered life, or maybe the results are skewed by “womyn” who say all sex is rape.

they all seem very believable to me. I would like to see the rape numbers from children of single parents who are raped by the boyfriend of the mom. It might be almost as bad as the rape numbers from the gay families.

They do seem high. As you say, perception may be at work here - some people who feel a compulsion to be promiscuous later feel the sex was actually “rape” (they did not really want to engage in it but didn’t let the person know.)

Yea, first thing I thought while reading this article is all those numbers sound VERY high, maybe a factor of 4. I'll admit I don't know everything about everyone I know, but through my life I've only met 3 people who I know were actually raped. (Only one of them forceful, others were boyfriends going too far for comfort.) Then a couple others I heard about at college, stupid frat boys and drunk chicks.

Well a quick Google search shows several studies thinking 18-20% of the populace has been raped.. HOLY CRAP that is ridiculous.. I don't know how they get that number, ever from their other numbers. (~90k reported per year, 1 in 4 rapes is reported.) So if we assume an average age of 40, 40*90k = 3.6M. divided by 300M, we have 1.2%. Even with the 1in4 reports, that still only gets to 5%. So that's pretty rough, but still not close, especially since all my numbers are rounded in favor of more rapes (FBI estimates 1in3 reported, Wikipedia median age is 37).

The 8% raped number put out there for the intact biological family seems high too. But the likelihood 3 to 4 times greater of being a rape victim because your guardians are homosexual - that is quite alarming.

Our society needs some objective eyes on this. If these numbers are true, and can be otherways substantiated, the practice of allowing homosexuals to raise children needs to end.
