Roylene, you sound like a Mormon or you've bought into the official LDS history. There's even more to it.

Add in "Doper' and "Pigeon" and you've got it.

If there is someone there at the house with you, why don’t you go in and spend a few minutes with them, relax a little bit, see how they’re doing.

No that's not, but Romney is not saying that ~ he cuts it off long before the prayer and consult with your bishop part. Of course they are wrong ~ actually quite a barbaric bunch to believe that whole piece of claptrap ~ but the point is Romney does not say what the LDS says ~ he says less, and that's his excuse for killing a baby.

You do realize that cutting short a rather elaborate doctrinal statement is different than the doctrine itself, and they are a very legalistic bunch.

In any case they do not have exclusive control of Mormon doctrines ~ others claim that.

The COFB, out of which this whole deal originated is far more explicit. They do the prayer part and let their kids die. They'll let a pregnant woman in difficulty die.

That's just a permutation of the same lack of respect for innocent life that so typifies COFB ~ and to me suggests that Romney is likely a COFB scam artist who has either been born to the practice, or he has been recruited into it.

I have been following this line in the thread because I am fascinated by the ramblings of muawiyah.
To be accused of being a mormon because a person knows the history of mormonism is ludicrous.
Neither roylene or ansel12 are mormons, they do know mormonism, and apparently you muawiyah do not.
I will repeat what has been said before, Romney and his family go back to the beginning of lds and mormonism.
They are part of the hierarchy.
They are so intertwined in SLC lds, that to removed themselves would find the near collaps of mormonism.
Romney does nothing that is contrary to mormonism.
Romney is not pro-life and neither is mormonism.
It is unclear, by your posts how you are coming to the conclusions Romney is not “a good mormon” as you put it.
Not only is he one of the highest level mormons, he receives awards from SLC lds to show him how great he is.
The man has been groomed from his birth to run for president.
Many mormons beleive him to be the fulfillment of Smith’s prophecy, some have even said it here on FR.
Someone said it before - are you drunk?

The Romney family go back to the foundations of Mormonism in UK, not the USA.

They emigrated from UK to the USA with status.

There's always somebody in the woodpile who thinks he's due more ~ much more.

Romney’s family came to the US in 1837, after meeting Smith in Britain.
Smith started telling people of his “visions” in 1832.
The Romney’s have been integral to mormonism/lds since the beginning.
Why that bothers you is anyone’s guess.
Whether you like it or not, Mitt Romney is revered in the SLC lds structure, since you feel you are a learned person - how do you not get that.
Romney is mormnism, mormnism is Romney.
Many many many mormons beleive he is the fulfillment of prophecy, his parents believed it and Romney will take advantage of it.
It matters not a wit that you think he is not a “good mormon”, they think he is and award him accordingly.
It matters not a wit if you think he is not what he is.

LDS simply has more members than the other mormon groups. Nothing special in that.

The Romney family didn't come here until 1841 and went up the Mississippi to Nauvoo ~ there's a lot of history before that!

Joseph Smith himself reported that his FIRST vision occurred when he was 14 years of age. That'd been in 1819. There were COFB folks in the territory ~ this having been Iroquois lands not long before ~

These are Smith’s own accounts of his first vision:

In 1832: age 16, in the wilderness, pillar of light spoke to him

In 1834: age 15, was awakened, just started thinking about God

In 1835: age 14, in a grove, a single personage spoke to him

In 1840: age 14 or 15, by his house, two glorious personages

In 1842: age 14, a secret place, fire pillar or two personages

In 1842: just says early 1820, in a secret grove, two people who glowed

The date I sited about Romney’s family coming to the US are from his family’s bio.
And they came to build a new Jerusalem.

SLC lds are the official mormonism group, like it or not that’s the way it is.

tada
I am done trying to have a reasoned conversation with you, go have another drink and go to bed.

born 23 December 1805~which means by 1832 he was 27 years of age not 16.

That 1805 date is the official LDS date, unless you got another Joseph Smith somewhere.

That he reported many first visions is simply typical of using any of about 328 different hallucinogenic herbs, fungi or bacterial compounds found in North America and commonly used by ALL American Indian groups ~ including the Iroquois who had not been pushed out of the Rochester area ~ until 1838!

Here is an explanation which you might actually understand.

Smith's own first vision versions:

In 1832: HE SAID HE WAS age 16, in the wilderness, pillar of light spoke to him

In 1834: HE SAID HE WAS age 15, was awakened, just started thinking about God

In 1835: HE SAID HE WAS age 14, in a grove, a single personage spoke to him

In 1840: HE SAID HE WAS age 14 or 15, by his house, two glorious personages

In 1842: HE SAID HE WAS age 14, a secret place, fire pillar or two personages

In 1842: HE SAID IT WAS the early 1820, in a secret grove, two people who glowed

Are you really that thick, that you didn't understand it?

Your layout man, your layout. And, you didn't put quotes around what he said, so it reads that he says he has these visions at different ages in specific years ~ not that in specific years he spoke and said he'd had these visions when he was so and so years old.

You could have put it in a table with several headers.

You are so wrapped up in making some sort of attack on behalf of something you aren't paying attention to what you are really doing.

The question was his first vision ~ which is useful to me because I've been tracking the COFB, not Joseph Smith. So, when he's 14, and in the Rochester area, still pretty wild frontier full of Oneida and Canadaigua, AND, much more importantly the European settlers the Oneida had sought so they could manufacture their own guns, ploughs, harness gear and other iron parts, it's of real interest to me that a Teenage Joe Smith is toking up on something and getting so high he has hallucinations.

So, you have a list of other dates he gave ~ which may be inferred from his age. Wonder what else they did up there besides get married at 15.
