CHARLOTTE, N.C. A Sunday of religious activity tied to the Democratic National Convention opened and closed with a prayer, as believers of varying spiritual and political backgrounds were urged to reconnect with God to cure the countrys ills.
In the days largest event, some 5,000 conservative Christians gathered north of uptown in what was billed as a nonpartisan prayer for Charlotte and the country.
Hundreds who attended Charlotte714 at Verizon Wireless Amphitheater streamed from their seats to sign a 130-foot Declaration of National Spiritual Emergency.
