Bill Clinton's endorsement 'similar to doomed George H.W. Bush re-election bid'

Bill Clinton's prominent endorsement of Barack Obama at the Democratic convention has drawn comparisons to Ronald Reagan's backing of George H.W. Bush's doomed re-election bid in 1992.

Mr Clinton is to deliver a prime-time address to his party gathering in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Wednesday night, after being given a key speaking slot typically reserved for the vice president.

Jeffrey Lord, a historian and former aide to Ronald Reagan, said that the only precedent in recent memory was the speech given by Mr Reagan as a “private citizen” to the 1992 Republican convention, as President George H.W. Bush struggled to defend his presidency against a challenge from Mr Clinton, who eventually triumphed.

The prominence given by Mr Obama to Mr Clinton's speech this year sharply highlights the weakness of the current President's position, as he fights to keep his job amid an ongoing unemployment crisis and sluggish economic recovery.

Four years after winning the White House by campaigning as the anti-Clinton, Mr Obama has been forced to enlist his Democratic predecessor to style him as the enthusiastic heir to Clintonism. Mr Bush, who had previously served two terms as Mr Reagan's vice president, could more easily claim to represent an extension of his predecessor's legacy.

However, their reappearances were “for the same reason,” Mr Lord told The Daily Telegraph. “Obama needs Clinton just as Bush needed Reagan. But even Reagan couldn't save Bush – and I'm not sure Clinton can save Obama.”

Mr Obama has worked to repair the damage to his

Bill Clinton could, strangely enough, become both the King of the RATS and the King of the GOP (which would make him all the more likely to get him, or Hillary the UN Sec position - google that for more info) by tossing Obama under the bus at his speech.

From your link:

Juanita Broaddrick, a former nursing home administrator, said during an interview with Sean Hannity of Fox News Channel’s Hannity and Colmes program, that Clinton, while he was still attorney general of Arkansas, sexually assaulted her.

At first known as “Jane Doe No. 5″ in Kenneth Starr’s impeachment report to Congress, she had filed an affidavit in the Paula Jones case, at first denying Clinton had made any unwelcome sexual advances to her. But Broaddrick later claimed to investigators for independent counsel Starr that she was raped.

A Clinton campaign worker at the time, she described a meeting in her hotel room in which Clinton held her down forcibly on a bed and bit her lips while engaging in sexual intercourse. After the encounter, Clinton allegedly told her not to worry because he was sterile.

She first told her story to the Wall Street Journal in 1999.

Amazing, numerous allegations of sexual assault throughout this sick POS’s life, starting as far back as 1969 when a women named Eileen Wellstone filed charges of sexual assault against Bubba while he was at Oxford. She was pressured to drop it by her parents and Oxford. A few months later he’s out of Oxford before graduating

In 1972 a women files a charge of sexual assault with Yale Campus police, seems professor Bubba forced his way on her.

Then of course Juanita Broaddrick in April of 1978.

Kathleen Willy, Paula Jones and others I guess were lucky they were only groped and propositioned.

This man is an odious, vile, sociopath and yet the world still thinks he’s some great man. The deal the Fraud made with the PIAPS is still paying dividends. She dropped out of the race and the PIAPS, with no diplomatic experience at all, gets SOS. The Fraud’s admin is littered with Clinton retreads. Now this, he gets the hot spot Wed night instead of the V.P. Once again he demands all the attention be focused on him. He wants this to be his convention.

Will we ever be rid of these two insufferable human beings. I hope I live to piss on his grave one day, for Juanita and all the other women he has assaulted, for the way he disgraced the Presidency, the way he divided this country and for the most corrupt administration in history.

There’s a special spot reserved for them both in hell, a few chairs over from Teddy Kennedy.

I saw Slick Willy pimping for the Food Stamp President (food stamp use is up to 48 million now) today for the first time. The first thing I thought was that Slick Willy does nothing for free and definitely nothing for free for the Food Stamp President after he dissed his legal squeeze. The price has got to be high .... I know Slick Willy likes his oral sex (which is not real sex).....

"Kathleen Willy, Paula Jones and others I guess were lucky they were only groped and propositioned."

Less Slick Than He Thought Willie ended up paying Paula Jones $850,000.

Former President Sticky Willie - impeached and guilty of rape.
