Speculation Mounts That Ron Paul Will Launch Third Party Presidential Bid On Tuesday’s Tonight Show

Speculation is mounting that Texas Rep. Ron Paul will mount a third party bid for the presidency as pressure from his supporters builds ahead of his appearance Tuesday night on NBC’s Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

According to a report, Paul’s supporters were deeply upset by how the libertarian Texas Representative was treated at the Republican National Convention last week. 300 of them joined in a conference call on Sunday night planning to urge Paul to launch a last-minute independent bid for the White House.

In order for Paul to appear on the ballot in all 50 states, he would have to join the Libertarian party’s ticket — either as former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson’s running mate or as his replacement. The party’s present vice presidential nominee, Jim Gray, would have to drop out of the race.

Why Jay Leno? Why doesn’t the creep just go down to Charlotte and announce there. I know the communists will give him all the time he wants.

Or you could be completely wrong.

Rand Paul is finished, for any VP or Presidential bid, ever, if Ron Paul does this.

That is why I don't believe this will happen.

If Paul runs 3rd party, he will take far more votes from Obama than he will Romney.

Do you have any sources to back up that claim?

I wondered if this was in the offing if Romney appeared poised to win or make it close.

There is no way crazy Ron Paul gets 19% of the vote like Perot did in 1992.

There was something anti-stablishment appealing to people about Ross Perot.
Ron Paul is just batsh*t nuts, as are most of his supporters, and that will quickly become obvious to even the most clueless “undecided” voters.

Romney Ryan still win this one.

I don’t think Paul will run Libertarian. It would doom Rand to the lunatic fringe after he gets booted from the R party. Not booted by the party but by conservatives blaming him, unfairly but correctly, for Paul getting obomo re-elected just as Perot got Clinton elected.

He would. Not sure why people worry so much about this. Go to any Ron Paul forum. These people are not Republicans and they are not conservatives. In fact, they HATE social conservatives as much as they hate a country clubber like Romney. Paultards are simply libertarians who have realized 3rd party campaigns don’t work, so they are trying to take over the GOP. The Democrats had the LaRouchies to put up with, we’ve got the paulbots. If Paul ran 3rd party, he’d take FAR more votes from Obama than he would Romney. Go away paultards!

I think it’s too late. To be placed on ballots each state has file deadlines that must be met. I believe those deadlines have passed, although I have not investigated (yet).

I just hope he doesn’t turn out to be the Ralph Nader of 2012. The country needs desperately to be rid of Obama.

Minor problem, I don't think Johnson is running because the Pubbies dissed him. Or maybe Hussein and Biteme would drop out, and Paul could run as a 'rat. Yeah, that would work! And there's still time!

It will take weeks to clean up the ejaculate in the streets of Charlotte if Ron Paul announces a Third Party Bid for the presidency. The Democrats will be ecstatic. Obama will be a shoe in.

He doesn't need to. If he runs, I have a gut feeling he'll push hard in a few swing states (like Goode is in Virginia) where just a 1%-2% swing could push it to 0.

i think that’s a possibility, or at least as many votes from obama as he takes from romney....he appeals as much to the far left howard dean type of voter as he does the paleo conservative...

also- what are the restrictions for getting on ballots at this point in time???
