President Obama said Wednesday that he had “regrets for my syntax” regarding his “you didn’t build that” line that has become a rallying cry for his Republican opponents.
“Obviously, I have regrets for my syntax,” Obama said during an interview with WWBT-Norfolk. “But not for the point, because everyone who was there watching knows exactly what I was saying.”
In prior interviews, Obama allies have accused Republicans of taking his remarks out of context.
“If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help,” the president said during a campaign stop in Roanoke, Va. “There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business— you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen.”

He has not one iota of a clue what it takes or how hard it is. I would venture to guess he has never pulled an all nighter
I regret the last 3 3/4 years of Obama!
Our American system makes business success POSSIBLE, but WE are the ones who make things HAPPEN. If WE don’t get off our butts and do the work, NOTHING happens. There are too many people these days who settle for the handout and then complain it isn’t big enough. And Obama makes it harder for business and encourages the handouts all at the same time.
No, what he regrets is his words have been thrown back in his face.
“Everybody there knew what I meant” but everybody else knows the truth. He meant exactly what he said.
He regrets the syntax, eh? Evidently he doesn’t regret the semantics or he would have expressed something stronger than mere regret of the syntax. Meaning he really believes business owners didn’t build their businesses.
Now to be fare to Obama, most of the business owners and managers he comes in contact with were not the ones who actually built their businesses from nothing. Most of the rich businessmen who give money lavishly to the ‘Rats with whom he rubs shoulders are rent-seeking incumbents who love government regulation because it keeps competition out of the market and the notion of “too big to fail” because the taxpayers backstop their losses. Such folks really didn’t build the business they have if they took bailouts or have a business model that only works on the basis of government intervention, and to the extent that Obama knows business owners, those are the ones he knows.
Here in Silicon Valley I see maybe ONE Odumbo sticker per day on my 16 mile round trip commute! Very encouraging.

For a guy so ballyhooed as astronomically brilliant, Obama sure does mis-speak often. I guess the pressure of being so astronomically brilliant forces not-so-brilliant errors.

That after an agreed-on price has been paid, one party should be compelled to pay even more just because they managed to use something to their advantage with no harm to others? WTF?
That _is_ the veiled point. Taxes were levied to pay for infrastructure, infrastructure was built therewith. Taxes are levied to maintain infrastructure, infrastructure is maintained therewith. What the O is pushing for: we paid for the roads, but if one of us reaps a greater benefit from use of roads then the rest of us somehow "deserve" a cut of that profit - rank communism.
Of course, his notion fails to address the reverse issue: if someone loses money for use of roads, then others should pitch in to compensate. This, of course, is rejected.
I have two toddlers. I'm trying to get them out of the "what's yours is mine, but what's mine is not yours" mindset. Pity Leftists never got out of the mindset.
