GOP Has Rare Shot At Winning House Seat In Mass.
npr ^ | September 9, 2012

U.S. House candidate Richard Tisei is openly gay. He's also openly Republican.

"You know what, in Massachusetts, it's a lot easier to be gay than be a Republican," he says, "as far as trying to get elected to office."

But Tisei could make political history for the Massachusetts GOP. Not just because they could win their first U.S. House seat in 15 years, but also because Tisei would be the first openly gay Republican to be elected to a term in Congress.

Republicans are generally long shots to get elected in this solidly Democratic state. But Tisei's upset bid is getting a huge lift from a family scandal surrounding the incumbent Democrat, Rep. John Tierney.

Tierney's wife pled guilty to aiding and abetting an illegal gambling operation that her brothers were running. This summer, one of them was convicted of racketeering. Another is on the lam.

Voters like Bob Doucette don't want to give the 16-year congressman another two years in office.

"Totally ridiculous. If my wife had $7 million in a checking account, how intelligent can he be if he didn't know that? And he's partly running our country? No possible way," he says.

Both brothers-in-law say the congressman knew all along what they were doing. Tierney says they're just lashing out.

No thanks. We need him in the caucus like we needed Mike Castle.

“Come back in ‘14 with a worthwhile Republican.”

To paraphrase Rick Pitino, Strom Thurmond ain't walking through that door.

A third party vote (not that anyone's running) re-elects this guy. And the wifey.

Tierney’s always been a pretty high “moral outrage” guy against the Republicans hasn’t he? Why can’t this go national the way the Republicans were held to account in ‘06 for Mark Foley’s alleged crimes. Plus there was no there there and Foley resigned.

that is the goal, to re-elect Tierney.

The gay marriage GOPers in MASS can go pound sand. I think you’re on the wrong site supporting Gay radicalism dressed up with a GOP bow.

Well the NRCC is at least trying to get Tisei in there. They were the ones who did the How Could Tierney Not Know site. Whether they secretly want Tierney re-elected, who knows.

Incidentally the following is a complete list of Republican
U.S. Representatives in Massachusetts:

That’s the problem with the NRCC. They wet their panties over left-wing establishment perv creeps like Tisei while they ignore or write off outsider Conservatives whom will actually change the status quo. Tierney is awful, but if we have to go so low as to consider people like Tisei to remove him, what exactly do we Conservatives win ?

A flaming poof GOP vs. a corrupt to the bone RAT.

What a choice.

My complete, total and absolute hatred for all things RAT outweighs my disdain for sexual deviants who engage in behaviors that ensure they'll die from deviant-related disease and relegate their souls to Hell in the process.

If this was my district, I'd vote against the RAT.

>>Pass. We can afford to lose this seat.<<

I disagree, unless he’s not only openly gay, but is also dead set on overturning traditional marriage and is one of those LGBT types that terrorizes anyone who disagrees with them.

Some people are gay. They aren’t all left wing loons. We need to distinguish between those who are, and those who just want to live an openly gay lifestyle but otherwise support conservative principles.

There’s a huge difference between protecting gays from bigots and advancing the liberal gay agenda. I can’t tell from the article which camp this guy falls into, but given that he’s running as a Republican, I suspect it’s the former.
