Romney said, “Well, I’m not getting rid of all of healthcare reform.”

Romney said, “Well, I’m not getting rid of all of healthcare reform.” In the discussion he was specifically referring to healthcare reform which is already LAW (AKA ObamaCare)

He was not referring to other possible replacements suggested by the GOP in this statement. He was referring to ObamaCare as it is now.

Sez who?

You're full of it...and he never uttered the words you've stated that he uttered..."I'll keep parts of Obamacare"...de facto!

If Thomas Sowell could read what's being posted by someone glomming onto his name he'd never stop throwing up.

I agree, and one other part of the ACA that needs to continue is enabling some way for people with pre-existing conditions to buy health insurance. That is a sound idea, because people who develop a medical problem while employed and then lose their jobs need to be able to buy health insurance if they can’t find another job fairly quickly or they want to start their own business. Insurance has to cost substantially more for people with pre-existing conditions, otherwise there’s not enough incentive for healthy people to buy insurance, but there has to be some way for people with health problems to buy insurance, otherwise people who lost their jobs and health insurance could easily go bankrupt trying to pay all their medical bills without insurance.

That said, most of the Obamacare law should be scrapped, because it grabs too much power and control over the health care system, centralizes power in Washington, and takes away all freedom of choice about what kind of health insurance people can buy.

I had a very liberal sociology professor at the time and had to eventually use some creative phrasing to keep my GPA up to snuff, because he’s a liberal soc professor at a community college so no one is surprised that anything that hinted at a conservative approach could be allowed past the threshold. I worded a paper with such subtly sarcastic stabs at socialized medicine that it was too much like a glowing recommendation and I hope it will never be found again.

He kept referring to it as healthcare reform, everyone did, and it is the version of healthcare reform that passed. I know that the Republicans had their own versions (and have had their own versions for awhile) but that’s the one that passed.

Because that’s the one that passed, that’s the one that Romney’s talking about when he says he would keep some aspects of it. This is old news anyway, we know what his own plan involves. But, he worded things in a way that allows for some wiggle room on exactly what of those two parts he would keep. Like I said before, he had to support those two aspects. You can’t really win the presidency with a quote of “Yep, I want people with pre-existing conditions and college students under 26 to not have guaranteed access to health insurance.”

And the Un-Masking of Mitt Romney, the lying, left-wing, Progressive Liberal, continues . . .

Shove it! You do the work of Obama and Soros!

We need to take back the country in November, and your self-esteem counts for nothing in the process.

I wonder how many Republicans in Massachusetts felt that way only to see their party destroyed by Romney and his Progressive Liberal antics as Governor.

The Massachusetts GOP has been a joke since at least the time of Senator Ed Brooke (of Barbara Wawa fame). By the time Romney arrived, there was no Massachusetts GOP to destroy. Romney's contribution to the Party was somewhere between nil and weakly positive.

First of all, Newsmax has put words in Romney's mouth that he did not utter. It's a discredited "news outlet" with a penchant for inaccuracy that gives conservative press outlets a bad name. To me, this is the thrust of all my commentary on this thread.

Secondly, the two aspects of health care reform you've mentioned were also in Romneycare, but with restrictions. Since he was the architect of this plan, I think it's far more likely that the "health care reform" he's referencing, if he's really referencing something specific, is his own.

But I don't buy into that line of thinking. I think that since he's a businessman with extreme leadership qualities, he's looking at the implementation of "health care reform" as a problem to be solved with all solutions on the table, coming down strongly on the side of business. I think he'll have to favor free-market solutions to the problem, if only to draw distinctions between himself and the President's unpopular policy. I think he was trying to do that today, and I think he succeeded...which is why the mainstream media has picked up the "I want to keep part of Obamacare" angle...a blatant lie. It's an attempt to divide and discourage conservatives and depress Republican voter turnout.

And the trolls here are having a field day with it.

His demeanor reminds me completely of the Pharisees in the bible. so legalististic and splitting hairs, they fail to see the big picture. Chunga if you don’t see Romeny’s words as meaning ObamaCare when he says, ‘will keep part of heathcare reform”, what in praytell do you decipher that to mean?

If you really think that then you do resemble the nutjob Ron Paul "out in left field" type of lunacy. If anything he was AGREEING (with the idea of the heathcare reform that is already law) with Obama after earlier making differences known between Obama and himself about jobs and the economy. The phrase, parts of heathcare reform that he will keep is specifically referring to Obamacare and if you cannot connect the dots then I need to ask if you are not truly a Ron Paulian/Dennis Kucinich delusional wingnut. Get it right. He said, "Well, I’m not getting rid of all of healthcare reform.” If you want my comentary, read the thread. I'm tired of arguing with liars who can't see truth staring 'em in the face.

Legalistic? Pharisaic? For pointing out that Newsmax has put words in Romney's mouth?

You want to address the notion of bearing false witness?

Ronald Reagan did not stop abortion, either. In fact, Reagan signed the most liberal abortion law in the country when he was governor of California.

Calm down. The most important thing is to get Obama out of office. Once Romney is in, we can and will apply massive pressure and it will work.

Recall the massive pressure W was under after he nominated Miers for the Supreme Court. She had to withdraw.

Reagan was pro-life and made a bad rookie decision in 1967, falling for something that many of us were naive enough to believe back then, that the “health of the mother” meant life and death.

Two weeks ago Mitt Romney, who has been pro-abortion since 1963, and then campaigned as having switched to pro-life to run for the GOP nomination, announced that he was reverting back to his pro-abortion position.

“”He is also not going to restrict abortion or stop funding it or remove gays from the military or anything else. He is not a conservative.””

Reagan, Bush,Bush did nothing to restrict or stop abortion either. Gays in the military would require a law passed by congress.
