New Yorker Writer: Obama Ditched Outdoor Stadium Speech Because of Humility!

The title of John Cassidy's column in the New Yorker is "Rational Irrationality" but after reading the reason he gives for Barack Obama ditching his outdoor stadium speech at the Democrat convention in Charlotte, NC, I think it would be safe to ditch the "Rational" part of the column title.

One of the big reasons why Cassidy pretty much comes off as completely irrational was his explanation as to why Team Obama really moved the convention speech from the 75,000 seat outdoor stadium to the much smaller indoor venue. At first Cassity does seem a bit rational in his Six Unanswered Questions From Charlotte, which is also notable for his complete lack of curiousity about the "two-thirds" platform voice vote, since he admits what most of us already knew---that the excuse of poor weather was bogus. However, he provides an "answer" so off the wall as to be a real howler:

New Yorker Writer: Obama Ditched Outdoor Stadium Speech Because of Humility!

I think he meant HUMILIATION.

Easy to confuse the two words.

Sometimes I wonder what it must be like to live with such delusions. Then, I quickly get back to the present and forget such drivel. Some people just aren’t all there, ya know?

I think the author of this piece is right, he just misspelled “humiliation”

I can almost imagine him in an old SNL skit babbling about moving indoors because of “humility” and at the end someone saying “They moved it indoors because of weather. The HUMIDITY, HUMIDITY”. Oh, nevermind.

The place would have looked like the last two minutes of the Ravens game last night with the Ravens up 43-13.

The New Yorker does have some good cartoons - and little else to look at.

How many of what kind of drugs do you have to take to think like a liberal?

Humble? I would never have thought of that word to describe Obama in a million years. LOL

I believe it. Obama was really humbled when they couldn’t even GIVE tickets away to bring in people for the propaganda.

Now, that is a true lesson in humility.

Besides, it wouldn’t have played well to the cameras to have the Occupiers get the free tickets and boo The Won.

He’s not running the country anyway. It’s Jarrett and the DNC.

Do you really have to ask why Geithner didn't make an appearance at the convention, John? I'll give you a clue: it might have to do with the fact that he would have been an unwelcome reminder about the miserable state of the American economy.

True, but...

Wasn't Obama's appearance at the convention a bigger and more unwelcome reminder about the miserable state of the American economy? The buck starts and stops at the top.

Cassidy’s in luck - no matter how lame the excuse the MSM will buy it if it helps their guy.

...since he admits what most of us already knew---that the excuse of poor weather was bogus.

I think it was the noon (of the day of the speech), or maybe 1PM ABC Radio news break that claimed some precipitation had fallen, and had a comment justifying the move indoors, aka a smaller venue that was easier to pack, while dumping on those that said it was because BHO's having a hard time drawing flies and/or mosquitoes to fill up the stadium, even with his literally unwashed OWS supporters.

If I had a subscription to The New Yorker, not that I wouldn't have cancelled it years ago, I'd certainly be cancelling it now because of this numbnut AND his editor.

I know someone who is fairly high-up administratively in a major MSM outlet, and is generally liberal. They think Obama is incredibly arrogant. Humility is definitely not a word I would ever use to describe this guy.
