The Left hates Margaret Thatcher because she reminds them they are wrong about everything
Daily Mail ^ | 9-12-12 | Daniel Hannan

Now and again, we are reminded of the sheer nastiness of a certain kind of Leftie. Not, let me stress, all Lefties: I have Labour friends who are motivated by a more or less uncomplicated desire to help the disadvantaged. But they march alongside some committed haters who define their politics not by what they like, but by what they loathe. They also define opponents not as human beings with whom they disagree, but as legitimate targets. A lack of empathy, bordering almost on sociopathy sits behind their talk of caring and sharing. On sale at the TUC Conference, before a storm of protest forced their withdrawal, were T-shirts glorying in the eventual death of Margaret Thatcher. ‘A generation of trade unionists will dance on Thatcher’s grave,’ says one, emblazoned with the image of her tombstone.

Another is wrapped in a bag printed with the words: ‘In the event of Thatcher’s death, open bag and wear T-shirt immediately.’ The T-shirt has a picture of the former prime minister’s Spitting Image puppet, with the slogan: ‘Hey ho the witch is dead.’ Unbelievably, the ‘unemployed’ workers who produced them are taxpayer-funded. Stop and think for a moment about what these T-shirts are celebrating. Lady Thatcher is a frail and elderly grandmother. Yes, she was a strong-willed, divisive politician — and thank heaven she was. A more conciliatory figure would almost certainly not have made the changes necessary to rescue Britain from the mess we were in by the late Seventies. But what does it say about someone’s mindset that they slide so easily from disagreeing with Lady Thatcher’s politics to gloating over the idea of her death?

Thank God the world had Reagan and Thatcher when they were really needed.

Cometh the hour; cometh the man (and the woman too!)

A certain kind? They are ALL like that. They have written, spoken and demonstrated their desire to KILL anyone who disagrees with them.

Yup. All lefties are deranged lunatics. For me, they want me dead? I have 2000 times the same mutual feeling for these bastards.

We need them both now, too. An Israeli— Netanyahu— may mirror them closest of anyone right now.

Thatcher bought the UK a generation to get their house in order, Reagan bought the US a generation to do the same. Time is almost up.

No different here in American. A friend of mine who lives in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area told me that when the audience at Garisson Keiler’s Praire Home Companion performance learned that Ronald Regan had died, most if not all stood up and clapped and cheered.

I don’t have any leftist friends any more. As a group they
think we conservatives are just plain evil.

Thatcher was Europe’s last conservative legacy. She had many great achievements, taking on the unions, helping to bring down the iron curtain, retrieving the Falklands from the fascist Argentinians.

Unfortunately, thanks to spineless leftards on both sides of the ocean, these triumphs have been undone. The unions are running wild, ruining schools and pretty much anything else they touch. Russia and China are becoming increasingly hostile in the absence of Western power. Argentina is once again a belligerent dictatorship propped up by Venezuela.

How far we have fallen. Let us pray for our way of life.

Compare this articulated and intelligent Woman with that fig leaf a man that we have as a (p)resident now, a bumbling, STUPID man who can not, nor will not speak directly to the subject under consideration without lies, platitudes and a TelePrompTer.

Romney might want to study her knowledgeably and style. but especially her DIRECTNESS TO THE ISSUE AT HAND.

HOW DO THE BRITS, GOD LOVE THEM, KEEP THE QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS SO BRIEF AND TO THE POINT? Can you imagine a presidential debate in this country with such verve.

I think a large part of the calculus of Obama’s verbosity is to muddy the waters of a given topic at hand. He either says nothing at all or something entirely different (frequently dissembles) than what he appears to say. And the adoring media divine brilliance in it. This world is upside down.

I am just old enough to remember the end of the Seventies: power cuts, three-day weeks, constant strikes, price and income controls, inflation.

Worst of all, I remember the sense of despair, the conviction that Britain was finished.

I was 27 years old in 1980 -- the Carter/Reagan election.

I, too, remember the despair, the shame, and the sense that I was living in a country whose best days were past.

Can kids today feel the same way I did 32 years ago?

Or is their memory so warped by the last couple decades that none of it matters anymore?
