Posted on 09/17/2012 8:33:36 AM PDT by Kaslin
Before I introduce myself and tell you about the most important decision of my political life, let me first cut to the chase.
If Obama is re-elected on November 6th, you havent seen anything yet. Because the first Obama term was just a small taste of things to come. Without ever having to answer to voters again, he will be free to be his REAL radical self. Without any need for restraint, Obama will throw caution to the wind, ignore Congress, and govern by Executive Order. He will be free to truly wreck this economy from sea to shining sea- just as Saul Alinsky, Cloward & Piven, Barack Obama Sr., Frank Marshall, Reverend Jeremiah Wright, Bill Ayers, and a host of other radical, Marxist, American-haters taught him.
Obama's second term will unleash a final economic Armageddon- the total collapse of the U.S. economy and our financial system. The real unemployment rate we have today is in the 15% to 20% range. We will look back with envy at "the good old days." Obama unleased will send the IRS to crush his political opposition. He will appoint a majority of Supreme Court and federal judges- so none of his violations of the Constitution will ever again be challenged. Perhaps worst of all, his politically correct policies in the Middle East will embolden radical Islamic and terrorist rogue states to attack and destroy Israel. And he will continue to weaken the U.S. military, so we will be unable to prevent it from happening.
If you dont believe me, just look across the pond to Europe. Theyve been following Obamas exact plan for decades. Their mantra was also big government, big unions, big spending, big taxes, big pensions, free healthcare, too many government employees, and green energy. The result? Economic disaster on a grand scale. Specifically Greece, Italy, and Spain are enduring a tragedy few can even comprehend. France is next. We will read about this someday in history books. America is following the exact same path under Obama.
Have I got your attention now?
Here's my story. It has been a whirlwind last 5 years in my life. I started out my journey as the antithesis of a politician. As a small businessman, home-school dad, Las Vegas oddsmaker, and political newcomer running for the Libertarian Presidential nomination in 2007, you couldn't find more of an anti-politician in all of politics.
But in America anything is possible. In this great country, never discount a long shot. I was elected the Libertarian Vice Presidential nominee in 2008. The Bob Barr/Wayne Root Presidential ticket went on to garner the second highest vote total in Libertarian history. I was then elected Chairman of the Libertarian National Campaign Committee, and became the #1 vote-getter in the country for election to the Libertarian National Committee. Media across the country called me Mr. Libertarian in my 4000 media appearances since 2008.
Today, after giving this many months of thought, I'm announcing the most important decision of my political career. I am stepping down from my roles in the Libertarian party, to endorse Mitt Romney as President of the United States, and to rejoin the Republican Party.
Why? Im a Capitalist Evangelist. Im proud to be a small businessman. I love starting and running businesses. The issues that are of life and death importance to this country are the economy, creating jobs, lowering spending, lowering the debt and deficit, reducing taxes, and saving capitalism. Because if the economy collapses, or your personal economy collapses, what difference does any other issue matter? We need to get our fiscal house in order first, before we can deal with all the other problems. Without an economy, without jobs, nothing else matters. Thats why electing Mitt Romney is so important.
Under the Obama administration we have seen businessmen denigrated, demonized, punished, smothered by 60,000 new rules and regulations, threatened with massive new taxes, and attacked by the IRS. Thats why there are no jobs. Thats why, in my opinion, the economy is in freefall. Thats why America is facing economic collapse and disaster.
This election is NOT about Libertarian versus non-Libertarian. This election is about capitalism versus big government progressivism and Big Brother socialism. Mitt Romney believes in the same things I do- keeping businesses free from government intrusion, allowing small business owners to keep more of their own money, and rewarding instead of punishing investors, innovators, and job creators. Mitt understands, as President Calvin Coolidge once said, The business of America is business.
Mitt understands that Obamas rhetoric, constant threats against business, union favoritism, IRS intimidation, barrage of tax increases, 60,000 new rules and regulations, $5 trillion in new debt, the added taxes and regulations of Obamacare, and the attempt to ban oil drilling and regulate the coal industry out of existence, have collectively ground the U.S. economy to a halt.
The sad reality is that this is our LAST STAND to save America. We will not survive four more years of Obama as CEO of this economy. I know my businesses will not survive another four years of Obama. The economy is in free-fall here on Main Street. Small business owners like me are seeing our entire lifes work melting away. Our childrens future is being destroyed before our very eyes.
The U.S. economy is like a very large and diverse failing company, in desperate need of a turnaround. What America needs at this moment in history is a job creator with major CEO experience with specific business turnaround experience a detailed understanding of economics a creative and innovative business mind and a track record of extraordinary success to lead this country back from the edge of the fiscal cliff. That person is Mitt Romney. If he could pull off miracles with Staples (and dozens of companies like it)...and the 2002 Olympics (which he saved from an economic disaster similar to the situation America now faces)...he can turn this Obama bust into the Romney boom economy.
As Clint Eastwood said, "We own this nation." It's time to take it back. Our businesses and jobs depend on it. The future of America and our children depends on it. Their quality of life is hanging in the balance. This is our last stand.
Do I agree with Mitt and the GOP on every issue? Of course not. No one ever agrees 100% on everything. But Im willing to put my differences aside- to set an example- in order to take back our country from the grips of socialism and the abyss of economic ruin. There is no other choice. Our back is to the wall, and Obamas defeat is that important to the survival of our country, our economy, our freedoms, our childrens future, and ultimately, capitalism itself.
Its time for a coalition of Republicans, conservatives, Tea Party activists, Libertarians, Ron Paul supporters, small business owners, homeowners, investors, patriots, Christians, Jews, and Israel supporters to join together and support Mitt Romney now.
Is there still hope? Can this Obama nightmare be turned around? Look no further than Ronald Reagan. Reagan's policies turned a Jimmy Carter economic disaster (similar to Obama's) into the greatest and longest economic boom in world history- leading to the creation of over 45 million net jobs, over $60 trillion in private sector asset creation, and the greatest increase in GDP (Gross Domestic Product) in American history. Reagan's "Great Bull Market" created more wealth for America's families than any boom ever.
Finally, as important as the economy is, our interests in the Middle East have moved to the front and center. The Middle East is a powder keg about to explode on top of Israel and America's interests. Obama's world views are turning into disaster for America. Our long-time friendship with Israel is in tatters. The future existence of Israel is now at risk. Our Ambassador to Libya is dead- murdered by Muslims in a country where we helped put the rebels in power. Obama's naive and dangerous views on U.S.-Muslim relations, the war on terror, and his terrible treatment of Israel have emboldened our enemies. It is leading to very bad news, at a time where Obama's economic policies have left us broke, vulnerable, and even more dependent on oil from rogue states that hate America and support terrorism.
Because of my general agreement with Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan on important economic issues because of my love for our ally Israel and the terrible and dangerous way Obama has treated her...and because of my deep understanding of what Obama intends to do to this economy and this country in a 2nd term I will do everything in my power to help elect Mitt Romney as the next President of the United States.
I believe Mitt Romney is our Reagan. And I am proud to once again call myself a Republican. God Bless America.
All of this due to Obama’s incompetent and corruption and what are “conservative” commentators and the Democrat propaganda “News” media talking about today “infighting in the Romney Campaign”
I don't think Americans realize just how far down the road to a one party state we are.
Right on. Well said.
Someone needs to beat Obama in November or this Country is finished. If that person is Willard, so be it.
There can be no room for error in this election, no vanity votes for Quixotic third party candidates, there must be a sense of urgency. No candidate is perfect, now is not the time for perfectionism. This November is our LAST chance to back this country. Period!!!!! We must not allow ourselves to be detracted by the side shows or the media. Now is time close ranks. If Obama is re-elected, NOTHING will be reversed. We must man the phone banks, get our checkbooks, put on the bumperstickers, display our yard signs, talk up our candidates with our friends, family members, co-workers, neighbors, acquaintances and so forth. We muct encourage the young, independents, and persuadables to go out and see 2016 at the theaters. We do not have the luxury this year of being unfocused or distracted. WE MUST A HAVE A GREAT SENSE OF URGENCY!!!!!!
reason be damned!
i will vote principle one way or the other regardless who is available/unavailable as a candidate......figuring the bs is not my department...call it decency, principle, whatever...
I used to be a Liberterian as well. I worked hard for the party for decades. After 911, I examined the effects of my efforts. There were some positive educational effects, but the primary effect was to elect far left politicians who would have lost to much more conservative Republicans if the Liberterian had not been on the ballot.
I am a registered Republican and Precint committeeman, and I am working hard to take this country back from the far left. In this election, it means electing Mitt Romney, regaining control of the Senate, holding the house and then holding their feet to the fire.
Libertarian votes cost us at LEAST a couple of US House Seats in 2010.
They cost us 6 Indiana house seats, as well.
In those close races, the Libertarian vote ELECTS DEMOCRATS
And the other thing. IF Romney wins Conservative-Libertrains work only is beginning. It will take years to prune the rot out of our Government. We cannot do what Conservatives did in 1994 and 2000 think that winning the election settled everything. It doesn’t. It merely stops the hemorrhaging so we can start the real work.
“Its time for a coalition of Republicans, conservatives, Tea Party activists, Libertarians, Ron Paul supporters, small business owners, homeowners, investors, patriots, Christians, Jews, and Israel supporters to join together and support Mitt Romney now.”
“I believe Mitt Romney is our Reagan.”
Don’t go peeing on my leg and tell me it’s raining.
I’ve sacrificed MY principle in election after election for 40 years now, just to Defeat the Left, and it’s gotten me an Obama-BOT named Romney to Gag Down this time.
Root, I was Almost ready to swallow your BS, UNTIL, You told me Romney is our Reagan.
If he’s Your’s, You don’t even Begin to understand what a Libertarian IS, unless of course the Libertarian party machinery is as foul as Our beloved, aisle crossing, sell out RINO machinery is.
Granted, politics is deal making and lilly gilding, but you might as well call a street walker Mother Teresa (and that’s the toned down metaphor) as conflate This Obama from Mass. with an R on it with Reagan.
Well said. Romney’s a necessary evil to prevent a greater evil, not a man on a white horse riding to the rescue. Let’s not get carried away and pretend otherwise.
They say that every four years to be replayed again in 2016.
Thats because, since you and I are probably not running, no candidate is going to be perfect then either. We'll be forced to choose from among an imperfect selection of imperfect men and women.
Libertarians must know every aspect of our lives will be wrapped up in layers of petty regulations after four more years of this.
“an imperfect selection of imperfect men and women. “
Even That I could live with, but the vast majority of them have become far less than just imperfect: Marionettes and Martinets at the beck and call of the people who bought them their offices.
That is what the MSM have sold to the public.
Politics is far more about power and the MSM agenda than it is about money. The approval of the MSM is worth more than most political donations. The MSM routinely ignores profits in order to further the "progressive" agenda.
Mitt Romney is our Regan, pleeeze. We all know what Romney say, why can’t you show what he has done. He did not run for Governor after his first term because he could not win. He has a dismal record as GOV. of Mass. His vast business experience did not help the people of Mass. His RomneyCare is a financial burden on the State and he is proud of it. He may not be as bad as Obama but he is no Regan.
Sorry, I don't trust this guy as far as I can throw him. I trust Artur Davis more than I trust Root, and that's really saying something. At least Davis has said his actions in 2008 were wrong and Obama fooled him. Root wants to tell us he's our buddy now but cannot seem to bring himself to admit the Barr/Root ticket he ran on was a scam and it appears neither one of them were actually "Libertarians".
Thank you, Root, we need everybody possible pulling to save America.
I saw him on TV, I was slightly surprised.
He wants Obama lose (I agree) so he praised Romney, makes sense. “Romney is crap but you must vote for him anyway” may be the consensus but no politician who wants Obama to lose is gonna say that on TV or in a column. Does he believe his own words? Who knows. If he can convince the few people who cares what he thinks in the swing states not to waste their vote on Johnson I say good.
As for 2008, McCain would have needed slightly over half of the Barr vote to win NC by a hair. Possible but there’s the drug and anti-war people who would vote democrat and those that wouldn’t vote at all so maybe not, any recount would have been rat controlled. In any case Osama still wins easily in 2008 without his probably fradulent wins in IN, NC and Omaha.
As for your personal take on Root, I agree, he’s an unctuous used car salesman type who’s ultimate goal is probably to get you to pay for his financial advice.
A lot of people were content to let Obama in but no one wants to be responsible for reelecting this disaster.
Other than Virg Goode that is.
you are bac with a vengeance. Bears and WHite Sox musta kept yer attentin.
Huuuuuge win for the Sox this afternoon.
>> In those close races, the Libertarian vote ELECTS DEMOCRATS
Well, the Libertarians may have some anti-Romney allies stemming from the Conservative camp.
In principle, I’m a Conservative Pro-Life Libertarian, but registered Republican. Unfortunately, the meaning of Libertarian is all bitched up and perverted by Liberals, Socialists, and Anarchists in denial.
Instead of the delusional third party initiatives, the Grand Ol’ Party should be reclaimed.
White Sox win 3-2 to keep pace with Tigers.
Pirates falling to pieces.
I was hoping to go to Fenway or Yankee Stadium this weekend. Doubtful. Work stress. Maybe NYM vs PITT next THUR.
Cy Chen strikes the Sox again.
Pittsburgh is .500 and fell behind Milwaukee, who I didn’t notice got hot.
I think STL will get hang on to that second wild card spot.
Go vote for Obama you know you want to!!!! And collect your Obama cash from his stash in 2013. I know people who are voting Obama and also like Ron Paul a lot, you are probably one of them
Are you New to conservatism.
Are you New to the Republican/RINOcracy?
Are you New to the Constitution?
Are are you just New?
It usually pays to research your subject before flaming them.
You must follow Wayne Allen Roots advice. He’s voting for Romney and so should you. Unless you don’t mind more Obama. Anyways if you eliminated marihuana legalization from the Libertine party platform you would lose 75% of your members
I get that he's not Baraq. But if you're voting for this guy because you think he's conservative, you're smoking that Libertarian wacky weed.
Sounds like a good reason for GOP authoritarians to stop antagonizing libertarians. If they weren't so strident and non-conservative about things like contraband law and the like, they might lose a few less votes...
“I believe Mitt Romney is our Reagan.”
Don’t insult Reagan by comparing him to the extreme left-winger Mittens.
Reagan didn’t win the way He won by demanding mindless obedience, and at this point, I’m asking myself Why I’m discussing this with You.
Mindless, unquestioning obedience got us McCain, which got us Obama, which lowered the bar so far that almost anybody can defeat him, and that’s exactly what we got, ...... generic, RINO branded anybody.
This election shouldn’t be anywhere near as close as the polls are calling it at the moment.
After 3.5 years of Zero, Romney should be showing a comfortable 15 point lead even with the MSM rigging their stupid polls, but he’s not.
So let’s just keep on keeping on with tossing people out of the sleigh as we go in for the Big Win in November. And when we barely pull it out of the fire by the skin of our teeth, we’ll all sit back patting ourselves on the back because WE WON.
If we win.
That’s right. Those Damn, eff**g libertarins screwed us again. They cost us the election, Again. Them and all the Other malcontents we drove off who wanted the Smaller, Constitutional Government our Constitution says we’re supposed to have, because we refused to swallow the Kool Aid.
Romney is our Reagan.
Where you an adult when Reagan was in Office? Did you get to actually Learn from the Master for 8 years watching his addresses?
Damn right people will be pissed at the libertarians if their 3rd party votes for screwball Gary Johnson put Obama over the top in some crucial states. That provide the margin for an Obama electoral college win. We’ll be gunning for you pot head screw-ups.
I was an adult when Reagan was president but I was stupid liberal back then so he did not get my vote. But at least I did not vote for Mondale...I just did not vote for a few years. My advice is don’t repeat my mistake. You can do better than me by voting for the Mormon not the Marxist
I can teach it to you, but I can’t learn it for you.
WHO I’m voting for is in act and fact None of your business, but just so you’ll sleep a little easier at night, I’m going to vote for Ryan and his jerk boss, and I’d made that decision Before being ordered by you to do so.
Sorry but you already let the cat out of the bag. That you would not be voting for Romney/Ryan. So go ahead and be a lazy slacker. Others like me will step up to the plate and work and vote for Romney plus I live in Florida, swing state, so my vote is important
And after Romney wins you will let out a sigh of relief. You will be happy that Obama is getting the boot. But you kept your phony baloney libertarian ideals and voted for Gary Johnson
Cubbies knock off the Cards in stunning fashion! (Philly is the only team in pursuit that is winning tonite.)
this is not the place to get interest in the pennant races. why is that? I am the only baseball glutton left in the world? Reminds me of a time the Red Sox were in the playoffs in ‘99. I left work on my lunch hour and went to a bar for 2 hours to catch the game. Expecting an enthused crowd. Nobody was in the bar! Nobody cared. The number of real baseball fans must be at an all-time low. It ain’t football.
I was planning on Fenway on SAT and the Bronx on SUN, but I’m too stressed about a project, so no baseball for me. Maybe NYM vs. Pirates on THUR, but that game is looking meaningless now. Wait til next year to try again.
Unlike with football the current national pastime I think people mostly care about their own teams in baseball. If you’re in Red Sox country I can understand a lack of local interest. With the extra wildcards I’d figure nationwide that interest is up.
White Sox are blowing it big time, no offense lately. Thank God MINN swept a doubleheader in D-town yesterday.
I suggest you watch South Park's Douche and Turd episode. It answers that question as only South Park could.
All the GOP had to do to get my vote was to nominate a conservative candidate.
