VIDEO: Mitt Romney Responds to ’47 Percent’ Comment, Says It Wasn’t “Elegantly Stated”
Fox News ^ | September 17, 2012

Republican candidate Mitt Romney responded to criticism after a video surfaced of him calling out 47 percent of Americans for not paying income taxes, saying they all feel entitled to government handouts and will vote for President Obama no matter what. In the video, Romney can be heard saying that it’s not his job to convince those people to vote for him, but rather he needs to focus on independent voters.

Romney defended to the tape, saying, “It doesn’t capture the question, so I don’t know precisely what was asked, but I think it was about my campaign and how I’d be able to get the majority of voters to support me.”

The GOP nominee asked for the entire video to be released. He said that it was not “elegantly stated” and that he was “speaking off the cuff.”

Romney went on to say that it’s a message he plans on continuing to carry....

A nominated Republican candidate speaks “inelegantly”? I must therefore call upon Romney to immediately step aside so that we can select another candidate who will not be attacked by the mainstream media and thus endanger other Republican candidates.

I disagree. This is THE breakout moment for Romney!

47 % of Americans do NOT pay their fair share of Personal Federal Income Taxes.

Romney up to now has embraced the RINO Hydra of trying in vain to win over Moderates, Independents, Undecided and the other fence sitters.

Here is the main idea from the article that I base this on: “ - - - Asked why he wouldn’t go full-throttle and assail Obama as corrupt, Romney explained the internal thinking of his campaign and revealed that he and his aides, in response to focus-group studies conducted by his consultants, were hesitant to hammer the president too hard out of fear of alienating independents who voted for Obama in 2008 - - - . “

Key phrases that keep Romney tied with Obama are “his aides,” focus-group studies,” “his consultants,” and “fear of alienating independents.”

PC stands for “Poor Choice” Romney, and is the favorite tool of the Liberals.

America needs a leader to get us back on the Right Track, Romney.

Tick-Tock Romney: can you discard the above 4 PC groups that keep you tied with Obama? Tick-Tock.

Going to be interesting to see what he fall out on this is. This is either the point the election was won or lost by Mitt Romney. The GOP is rallying to his cause. The Dems are going bat sh*t crazy. It’s all boils down to the independents. If their inner guilty white person comes out, Romney is toast. If the indies like it, Romney will win....We’ll know in a week.

This was Romney’s BEST SPEECH EVER!

Up til now I’ve considered him a nauseating RINO, but this speech TOTALLY changes my mind about him.

Why the hell is he apologizing for it???

A politician tells you what you want to hear in a speech. But they tell you what they really believe in impromptu remarks.

I think Romney’s remarks about the 47% were dead on. And I’m convinced he believes this.

Conservatives who have doubts about this guy should seriously reconsider.

He said that it was not “elegantly stated” and that he was “speaking off the cuff.”

It happens to the best of them, Mitt. And don't worry -- no one will be asking for you to withdraw from the race for your verbal misstep. However you might lose your super PAC funding from Karl Rove, but that's his business.

Maybe an Annual Citizen’s Tax would be a good minimum “Fair Share Tax?”

Yeah, I know - - - Obama and his illegal aliens from Mexico would not have to pay.

I agree. It is perhaps the case that we should give Romney the benefit of the doubt when it comes to his Massachusetts record. Often Republicans in heavily liberal places govern as liberals. Look at Arnie. I think President Romney may be a lot more different from Governor Romney than we expect.
Glenn Beck put it perfectly.

“I’m not sure Romney is going to agree with me on every policy, but I know where Obama stands. He wants to ruin the country”

MSNBC has been on this every show all night, you would think they caught Romney in bed with a male lover from the fuss they are making. They seem to think this ends the race.,

Glad he DIDNT apologize, that would have been a disaster and the real end.

MSNBC spent days on RNC Peanutgate, an incident that probably didn’t even happen, so what do you expect?

This will be a tough thing to fight. The Dems are going to pounce on it in order administer a knockout blow. Many of those 47% may not pay income taxes, but they are working and pay SS and Medicare taxes. The MSM will make a big deal out of this.

Obama has said some outrageous things to donors that never got the traction it deserved, e.g., clinging to their guns, bible, etc. Hopefully, the Romney campaign will remind people of those statements, which unfortunately were not captured on vidoe but they were captured on audio.

A bit of a mixed message there. We all don't want to pay taxes but many people are collecting from the government.

The MSM tries to suffocate Romney with this stuff so he can't have space to attack Obama on the bad economy.

They want all 47% as loyal viewers but many don't have cable.

The MSM would make a big deal out of Mitt wearing different colored socks on either foot, while giving Barry a pass if he killed, cooked and ate a girl scout in the Rose Garden. It is what it is.
