Chick-fil-A to stop giving money to 'anti-gay organizations,' according to reports

After sparking anger nationwide by vocally supporting the fight against same-sex marriage, the Chick-fil-A fast-food chain has reportedly agreed to halt giving money to groups that seek to ban the practice.

The chain's president and son of its founder, Dan Cathy, sparked the furor in July, when he gave an interview to a Christian radio program in which he said "I think we are inviting God's judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at Him and say, 'We know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage.'" He later said, "We want to do anything we possibly can to strengthen families."

I’m not biting. The LATimes has a deceiving headline and it’s being published by many of their affiliates. I’ve read the article several times and cannot find an actual statment from Cathy or Chick-fil-a.

The statement is found in my rant at post 38...

they will “treat every person with honor, dignity and respect-regardless of their beliefs, race, creed, sexual orientation and gender”

That is indeed an actual CFA statement. From BEFORE this faggoty boycott business even started last July. And WHAT is wrong with that statement? Not a damm thing! That is and always has been a sensible (and Christ-like) business model.

But now? Now the homo nazi's have formed a perverted alliance through the media (of course) to twist this innocent old comment into their advantage.

Disgusting. They have Alinsky'd so many conservatives.

Oh well.

Now I don’t have to eat that dried chicken on crumby rolls.

I really don’t understand why people eat that food.

Thanks, and I agree, that appears to be exactly what’s happening.

http://www.salon.com/2012/09/19/will_chick_fil_a_stop_funding_anti_gay_groups/

In a letter addressed to Alderman Moreno and signed by Chick-fil-A’s Senior Director of Real Estate, it states, “The WinShape Foundations is now taking a much closer look at the organizations it considers helping, and in that process will remain true to its stated philosophy of not supporting organizations with political agendas.” Winshape, a non-profit funded by Chick-fil-a, has donated millions of dollars to anti-LGBT groups, including some classified as hate groups, such as Focus on the Family and the National Organization for Marriage. In meetings the company executives clarified that they will no longer give to anti-gay organizations.

But WinShape didn’t release the same comment to BuzzFeed. In fact, they refused to say anything conclusive, and seemed to lack self-awareness about having an anti-gay stance:

“We have no agenda, policy or position against anyone. We have a 65-year history of providing hospitality for all people and, as a dedicated family business, serving and valuing everyone regardless of their beliefs or opinions,” he said in a general press statement emailed to BuzzFeed by another Chick-fil-A spokesman, Jerry Johnston, who said the company’s press statement is not new. “The genuine, historical intent of our WinShape Foundation and corporate giving has been to support youth, family and educational programs.”

You certainly do shout a lot, but you have absolutely no information to offer on the substantive issue here: Is the company in fact backing away from the so-called anti-gay activities of its foundation? The problem for the gay folks has never been the one or two statements Dan Cathy made. The problem is that the company’s profits fund so-called hate groups. The article posted here says that Chik-fil-A will no longer support these family-friendly groups. You don’t know if that is true or not, but it’s sure been published plenty of places today.

I have debunked this agit-prop disinformation. I didn’t want to belive it, so I (and many others) looked deeper into what the truth is.

What is sad (for you) is that you not only believe it.. You WANT to believe it.

May I ask what is it about the anti-gay, pro-family values that CFA has that pisses you off? Perhaps you don’t believe a public company has a right to these values?

Forget it. Don’t answer this. You have made it very clear that you stand with the poofters and against CFA and Christian Values.

You have posted nothing in response to any of my comments that in ANY way “debunks” published statements about changes in policy at Chik-fil-A’s WinShape foundation. You just keep bellowing. If this information is untrue, where could interested people find some verifiable indication of it?

BTW, since you are so interested in my motives, I have seen up-close and personally the good work of the Cathy family, and I very proudly supported Chik-fil-A Day, much to the chagrin of friends who did not. But if the Cathys buckled under pressure, I think that indicates very well the direction the country has taken—and makes that downward spiral seem even more irreversible.

I saw a similar report from WND. Maybe so, maybe not. I have yet to see a call from the company for the alderman and his fans to retract what would be defamatory statements—including the claim that the information they cited about the WinShape foundation came in a letter from the company—if the truth is quite otherwise. But perhaps the truth is not quite otherwise. I suppose we’ll see.

I have no real beef with Chik-fil-A (pun intended). I just find it difficult to believe that a Christian company has to tiptoe around so gingerly if it wants to survive while the gay-embracing corporations (from Amazon to Starbucks to Google) are marching boldly forward with their agenda intact.
