Yesterday, CBS/NYT released its latest Quinnipiac poll of Colorado, Virginia and Wisconsin. With the exception of CO, the polls had heavy Democrat skews, so the head-to-head match-ups aren't particularly informative. What was telling though was the differences in enthusiasm between the two parties.
In all three states, a majority of Republicans say they are more enthusiastic about voting this year, compared to about a third of Democrats who are. In Colorado and Virginia, GOP voters are more enthusiastic than Democrats by a 15 point margin. In Wisconsin, GOP enthusiasm outpaces Democrats by 16 points.
Particularly interesting is that GOP voters have become more enthusiastic about voting in the past month.

You’re so right. Some friends have been complaining about the recent Romney clips - I tell them it’s a breath of fresh air to hear him talk like a conservative. And passionately too. Did you see how energized he was, talking about the 47%? I think he needs to stick with that message myself. That if the Obama economy wasn’t so bad, we wouldn’t have 47% making so little they pay no taxes, etc...
My entire immediate AND extended family voted for the Marxist last time around, but I'm sensing that a lot of them just won't have the umph to get to the polls this November.
Obama's been an enormous letdown to them.
We’re more DETERMINED to vote.
You've got one of them too, eh? I've got three. And two sisters. And both parents to boot (who ought to know better by now).
If they are putting their names on information they know to be false they are whores.
That could be it, I saw the Ad on the Hallmark Channel(I cant even watch Little House On The Prairie in peace) maybe showing Ads on cable channels is cheaper than local channels but still doesn’t make sense since Obama has already won this state, unless there is something we don’t know
Pew released one yesterday 37-30-31 with an 8 point Obama lead. Garbage in, garbage out.
Hopefully nervousness will inspire right thinking people to vote early and, in Chicago, often.
This is purely anecdotal, but here in Massachusetts, along my commute between Southbridge - Amherst (I stay off the MA Turnpike) though I do see Obama bumper stickers the closer I get to Amherst, I have YET to see a significant number of Obama lawn signs like I did four years ago. I’ve seen as many signs for Scott Brown as I have for Elizabeth Warren and Richard Neal. I can count on my fingers the number of lawn signs for Obama. If his base support is this apathetic in Massachusetts,...
THat’s IT!!!!!! I made it early last year (when McCain and company were calling us Hobbits as a hardcopy cut and paste)THank you thank you thank you!!! :-)
note to self: learn photoshop and other ‘tools’.
This election is something to be nervous about. It’s life or death for America. It’s like when you go in for a major surgery. You have confidence that it is going to go well, but, there’s a possibility something could go wrong. So, you’re nervous while waiting to go under the anesthetic. You hope that when it’s over and you wake up, all will be well, but, you’re never 100% sure.
This is the answer to the question you posed in your post #23:
The overwhelming majority of media polls are assuming an electorate that is at least as Democrat as the one in 2008, with many polls assuming a higher Democrat turnout.
Thank you!!! I actually made it in hardcopy way back when we were being called “Hobbits”. I have to get photoshop and figure out how to use it.
Windflier posted the image I made in post 152. I’d like to have it on a t-shirt. :-)
God bless your mom!
Because they are not news, they are propaganda. They have lost any pretense of regard for objective truth.
You said: My entire immediate AND extended family voted for the Marxist last time around
We have 47 days left before the election. Is there no way you can CONVERT THEM? Seriously.
Agree with all the comments above...not a huge Romney fan, but have to play the cards we are dealt. This is truly a turning point for our country and every vote is important to our side. I think regardless of who wins the independent vote, Repub turnout vs. Dim turnout will decide the matter.
Crawling through broken glass and over mountains to vote for an unpopular, uninspiring GOP candidate. That shows just how miserable an excuse for a president the Manchurian Muslim is.
I'm serious...really, she said that!
I'm serious...really, she said that!
About the only thing I could do to keep these folks from voting Donk is organize an all-day, all-expenses paid fishing cruise for them on November 6th. If I had the cash I might even try it.
But... they don’t know that it’s false. They are simply giving their customers what they want. If their customer wants to know how the campaign is going based on the same turnout as 2008, why should Joe’s Polling Service say, “Sorry. I won’t take your money. I don’t think the turnout’s going to be anywhere near that. Take your check and shove it.” They sell a service. If someone wants to pay them perfectly good money to run a poll based on ridiculous assumptions, why should they say no?
This is an interesting story. There have been a few others in the last day or two about Hussien buying a house for January 2013 and the possibility of Hussen loosing the popular vote.
This may be a frantic signal from the MSM to the chair and the jackasses that: “we have tried to demoralize the GOP and it has not worked at all.”
Hearsay bedwetting. Jesus H. Christ, I thought I'd seen it all...
Amazing how all the polls are all over the place. I do think, however, that enthusiasm will win the day. Clearly, this is not 2008 with an immense Dem turnout. Unfortunately, it isn't 2010 (yet) either with a GOP rout.
6 weeks is a long time and lots will happen. Good news is Romney has had many, many debates; Obama - none. Obama is not used to being challenged, so this could be fun. Of course, the lefties running the debates will try to help; but I think Romney is ready for them.
Well jboot, I work with some who voted for Obama in ‘08 when they were in a “state of stupid”. Now they are embarrassed, to say the least, and very disappointed in his job performance. It only took a little nudging to get them to abandon him this time. I don’t know any family members who voted for him. Our family is long-time, entrenched, Conservatives. We knew the guy was a Marxist Muslim from the git go.
Wow! Made my day. Thanks.
I coined the term Broken Glass Republican in 2000.
I'm glad I'm not the only one this year.
Garde la Foi, mes amis! Nous nous sommes les sauveurs de la République! Maintenant et Toujours!
(Keep the Faith, my friends! We are the saviors of the Republic! Now and Forever!)
LonePalm, le Républicain du verre cassé (The Broken Glass Republican)
Be vwey vwey quiet. Then on election day (or if you vote early) spring up and crush the half-rican American on 11/6. That’s what I’m prayin’ for. Actually I kind of like (a little) the black half. It’s the white half I can’t stand. I guess we now wish the government had provided ms. stanley anne some birf control huh?
Helping keep mankind warm for 65 years.
The coworker who twisted my arm to get me to vote for ‘Bammy in ‘08 figured it out on his own when he got cut from his DoD job, and the friend who used to be in a union calls Zero the “Obamination.” Those guys were low-hanging fruit. Most of the remaining folks I’m thinking of are friends of friends, and they love Zero and Big Government more than ever. All this is to say that I think most minds are already made up.
Listen. Listen. Listen. To all my fellow “crawl over broken glass” voters” consider doing what I am doing. I called my voter registration here in Lake County (Gary) Indiana and asked about early voting. The nice lady said no problem. In Indiana it starts October 9th. I can go to the County Court House with my DL or state id and vote! That way if I get hit by a bus before election day my vote still counts! Make sense?
You're welcome, Sue.
No legitimate pollster takes such directions when it will make them look like idiots. There is a difference in polls only for internal use (which may very well do what you suggest) and those which are released to the public.
This is not being done at the behest of the media but completely voluntary on the pollsters part. They are part of the media and totally biased.
Huh? I guess if I had some sort of mind control device, I could do it.
Changing minds is tough work, friend. These are grown people who possess free will and self-chosen considerations about everything under the sun moon and stars. It takes a lot of work to get any person to shift their viewpoints even a few degrees, let alone, a complete reversal of their worldview.
No kidding. There are more than a few in my family who are disillusioned about Obama, but they're nowhere near the point where they'd actually consider voting for the Republican. They're lifelong Dems, steeped in liberal Kool-Aid. They'll stay home, first.
Changing minds is tough work, friend. These are grown people who possess free will..............
Well then, you go to Plan B. You take an Insurance Policy out on each one of them and.............. LOL .....J/K.
Most of the polls that are showing 0bama ahead and Romney floudering are also to shift campaign money towards 0bama.
Those people sound like Independents, or moderate Dems - not hard-core, progressive liberals. If it only took a little nudging from you to get them to come over to our side, then they were never in the 47% to begin with.
Try nudging a hardened liberal. It's like trying to move the Rock of Gibraltar.
He doesn't speak to me anymore. ;-)
Naw, they might be dunderhead liberals, but they are family. Outside of our politics, we're still bonded at a core level.
Unlike you, I'm the sole conservative in my clan, which makes for some strained relations at times. They think I was kidnapped and brainwashed by the vast right-wing conspiracy .. LOL
If they do, it won't be because of anything I did. Obama built that.
And you know this for a fact? You honestly don’t believe that if someone pays for a poll, they don’t tell the poster what they want to measure?
Yike. Thanks at least for proving that on the Internet, someone will argue about anything. Have a nice day.
Sure they can tell them what they want to measure. But they cannot tell them HOW to measure it.
Would an architect design a building that he knows will fall down just because that is the way the promoter wants it designed? Heck no.
The party purchasing a poll is expected to provide the subjects they want to measure, the sampling parameters and will have approval over the phraseology of the questions.
The polling party is unlikely to "cook the books", but they will fulfill their customers' specifications.
Of course that is the way it works.
No way even a Democrat polling organization is going to release or agree to have released a poll where people know they have sampled 90% D if the poll is to become public. If they look like absolute idiots with predictions wildly out of touch with results NO one will hire them, Dims or Republicans.
But, obviously, they will agree to generate and publish samples that are +10 to +13 Democrat -- because that could happen...even if it is improbable.
