Bravo, Ann Romney!
Richochet ^ | September 22, 2012 | Dave Carter

Posted on 09/23/2012 11:58:33 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

I don't know Ann Romney. I don't know Lee Cary, from the American Thinker, either, but I should like to buy them both dinner to thank them for making an important point yesterday, and it needs to be emphasized. Asked about some of the more counterproductive criticisms made by Republicans, Mrs. Romney replied, "Stop it. This is hard. You want to try it? Get in the ring." My thoughts exactly.

Constructive criticism is one thing, but handing ammunition to the opposition is uncalled for. Part of the problem is that I really like some of the people making these remarks, but I wonder if they understand the stratospheric stakes in this election. To observe that Governor's Romney's remarks about the 47 percent of people who pay no income taxes were inexact or haphazardly framed is one thing. But to say, as The Weekly Standard's Bill Kristol (whom I admire tremendously) did, that the Governor's comments were "stupid and arrogant," helps the cause not one bit. Instead, Twitter lit up with one liberal after another using the quote against the Republican nominee. Peggy Noonan, whose work I positively adore, picked up a rhetorical tire iron and went to work on Romney: "It's time to admit the Romney campaign is an incompetent one. It's not big, it's not brave, it's not thoughtfully tackling great issues. It's always been too small for the moment." Well, isn't that just ducky. If General Custer had been afflicted with support like this from his own side, the Indians could have taken the day off. With pay.

In his latest "G-File," the always brilliant, funny and trenchant Jonah Goldberg reminds us that it was the Tea Party and activist base of the Republican party that were most resistant to Governor Romney during the primaries, while the Republican party establishment admonished us repeatedly to please shut up and get behind the man. Now that he's the party nominee, we've rallied to him not because he's morphed into the second coming of Ronald Reagan, but because we understand that this election is for the whole enchilada. Put very simply, if Obamacare isn't repealed, if the debt isn't addressed, if America keeps sitting on her thumbs while her embassies burn, if Iran gets the bomb,…. that's all she wrote. And so the base is working its heart out to send Obama and his comrades packing,….and now the establishment types who told us to get behind Romney, are taking a tire iron to his kneecaps. "Unlike activists," writes Jonah, "it really is my job to say what I think." He immediately adds, however, that, "Still, I think the base might have the wiser take on all this. Win now, argue later." I couldn't agree more, Jonah.

Here's the thing. No candidate is perfect. Romney has areas that he could shore up, certainly. And it is not our place to sacrifice principle in support of any candidate. Encouraging him to take it to Obama in a certain fashion, or offering information that could prove useful to the campaign makes perfect sense to this observer. And if stronger admonishments are in order, perhaps utilizing private channels would be an option. But for heaven's sake, do we have to send gift-wrapped ammunition to Obama and his acolytes in the media?

Jonah is right in another respect. These people get paid to give their opinions. I get paid to move freight and operate outside the climate controlled comfort of media suites. However, I have been blessed beyond measure to offer my thoughts on Ricochet. So in the event that my opinions might coincide on some level with those of the professional punditry, here they are:

* It is my opinion that Barack Obama must be summarily thrown out of office, and that he should take every one of his little czars and minions with him.

* It is my opinion that Democrats in the House and Senate must be shown the door as well.

* It is my opinion that in all likelihood, this is our last chance to preserve America as it was intended by the Founders.

* It is my opinion that if Obamacare is not pulled up by the roots, it will sprout encroachments into the most personal aspects of our lives that will destroy every last vestige of meaningful individual liberty.

* It is my opinion that Mitt Romney is the only realistic alternative we have to the wholesale destruction of our country by an elite who disdains us, disdains our Constitution, and holds in utter contempt the moral and philosophical foundation of our country.

* It is my opinion that if we fail to defeat Obama, our grandchildren and their grandchildren will curse us and utter our names in contempt, and rightly so, because we let their liberty slip through our fingers while we nitpicked and sniped at each other.

* It is my opinion that we're better than that. It is my opinion that we are as equal to the challenge now as our parents and grandparents were in another time. Our heritage is freedom, our gift to those who follow is more of it, not less.

* It is my opinion that it is time to focus our fire on those who seek to shred the Constitution and enslave a great nation to the whims and predilections of a ruling elite.

There, does that help give the pros something to write about? Happy to help, folks. Now, if you'll kindly excuse me, I have to get back behind the wheel.

When it comes to arrogance, he’s small potatoes compared to Obama.

And, these "Holier-Than-Thou-Brigade" Christians, besides behaving contrary to the Scriptures in their behaviors toward others in FR (the sin of hypocrisy), also have the sin of pride. They can't even swallow their pride to use the word "NO" in answer to the simple question of, "Do you know of any other way to get rid of that filthy Communist in the White House besides pulling the lever for Romney & Ryan?" They'd rather continue trashing conservatives along with the only person capable of throwing the marxist pig out of the White House.

LOL Did you run out of vulgarities kid. I have had to hold my nose and vote all but twice in 65 years. It has gotten to the point that we have no choice except between which liberal has the R. Yes Obama may be worse than Romney but he won’t change the course of this Country. I will wait till I can vote for someone. I guess I missed all the campaigning and fund raising Palin is doing for Romney.

Ok genius, put on your thinking cap and picture this:

It is 1941-42 and you are either FDR or Sir Winston Churchill. You have a choice of sending lend lease to Joe Stalin and the Soviets because they have the troops that might be able to push Hitler back into Germany. Do you,

a.) Inform ol' Joe that he's on his own, that you don't approve of how he runs Russia and treats his people, and that there will not be a dime of support coming from the allies?

OR

b.) Make the Soviets our transient allies because the greater enemy is in BERLIN? So if you send that lend lease to Uncle Joe, does that make you a stinkin' filthy Commie?

You may not like the choices, but if you're going to sit this one out, by default you are only helping 0bama to another 4 year term for him to continue destroying this Nation.

If you can look at yourself in the mirror with that realization, why not just go ahead and pull the lever for 0bama-Biden on November 6th since you clearly can't bring yourself to vote for Romney?

Think about that.

Very strange approach for a man who is laying scripture out by the wagon full to attack people for thinking the Romneys are arrogant.

You might want to reread your posts on this thread and think about “hypocrisy”, and being “holier than thou”, and using Christ as a bludgeon for Mormonism and your personal political candidates.

So tell us Ansel, do you know of any other way to get rid of that filthy Communist in the White House besides pulling the lever for Romney & Ryan? If so, by all means enlighten us.

You may begin at any time.

Oh wait. You're working to get 0bama re-elected.

Never mind.

Nope. I only started on my course 1) after coming onto every thread about anything Romney and reading nothing about how you and your “Holier-Than-Thou-Brigade” were superior Christians and purer conservatives than all the posters you disagreed with on FR. You and yours were offering yourselves as ‘the light and examples’ of Christian piety. I have NEVER proffered myself in that light to anyone, whether in FR or in real life. But I’m calling you all out on your false claims of Christian piety and all your twisted Scripture posting being used to slaughter the sheep out there. It’s wrong. It’s unbiblical. And frankly, it’s un-Christian.

2) You all have been doing this for over 4 years.

I’m done with your hypocrisy and sin against Christ’s commands to spread the gospel. You’re not doing that. You’re railing against the Scriptures with your unkind, unloving, impatient, uncharitable behaviors. You’re ruining not only any testimony you might have left, you’re making it difficult for any Christian to witness to those you’ve chainsawed. What is your purpose in all this? Is it an attempt to win souls to Christ? To witness Christ’s Word? You’re failing. Using hammers won’t work. You need a net. Drop the saws.

You seem to be confusing me with someone else, I don’t recall ever posting scripture, nor posting any claims of a higher level of Christian faith.

You seem to be dragging baggage around from thread to thread, and you don’t even know which poster I am, since you made all those strange claims about me and scripture and “holier than thou” and so on.

You are the only person posting mountains of scripture and announcing who is a sinner and all kinds of attacks in Christ’s name.

I’m not in confusion, ansel. You’re part of a group of posters who work in collusion and on all threads, in unison, attacking Romney, in the name of Christianity, because he’s a mormon primarily, but also because he’s a RINO. The “you” is directed to the ‘you’ in your holier than thou group who post Scripture, and who state you are uber conservatives, while working to help Obama get re-elected.

No confusion whatsoever.

Dave is right — it is time those of us who cannot abide Obama to actively support Romney and Ryan.

And it is time for us to quit bellyaching about the Republican candidate — he won the nomination, now lets quitourbitching and elect him!

You cannot stalk a poster, and keep making irrational posts to him about subject matter based on other posters from past threads with you, and your lumping him in with freepers that you disagree with as a conspiracy.

I don’t think that I have ever posted scripture on FR, any rare exception, if there are any, would have been unrelated to me having a holier than thou argument with a Christian.

You cried to JR about mkjessup, now you're pinging a moderator for my post, lying and claiming I'm stalking you. You didn't like something I said so you cry it's "irrational."

I find your posts irrational, but I don't cry to the moderator nor JR for them.

As to my claims of collusion, it is a fact that it occurs with the 'holier than thou group'. If it's a fact, it's not a conspiracy. How would I know this? I used to be among the 'the list' of those who rail against Romney, four years ago, and only recently did they finally remove me from their 'private freepmails'.

Do you still cry to your mommy when people say things to you at work that you dislike?

When did I ping JR?

You admit to a form of stalking, you keep talking about me as a group, and claiming that I post scripture at you, in other words, you aren’t posting to me, you are posting to people who aren’t even on this thread, and attacking me in post after post, throwing scripture at me, lecturing me on my supposed failings as a Christian and all types of personal, pointed, religious attacks at me individually, for hurts you feel that you have suffered in the past, but not at my hands.

Try to focus on the individual freeper and his own personal posts, on the thread that you are on.

I do? where, when, how?

I claimed you personally posted Scripture to me? When? I'm not posting to you? Really? My posts directed in response to what you said weren't posted to you? To whom did it go? then why would you complain if it weren't posted to you? Get a grip, ansel.

Remember, that when liberals make fun of Romney/Ryan, they are really making fun of YOU, because ANY CONSERVATIVE would be attacked by them.

Kickass Conservative “Didn’t I read that Romney said he misspoke about the “Heath of the Mother” comment? “

WOSG “Yes, but the Romney-haters dont care. They spread the FUD and lies almost as bad as Kos-kiddies.”

Romney did not misspeak, and was clear that he rejected the GOP pro-life platform, and he was running pro-choice ads in the closing weeks of his campaign.

My understanding was and is that Romney restated his position on his “Health of the Mother” comment.

He clarified his position as allowing Abortion in three cases, (1) Life of the Mother, (2) Rape and (3) Incest. Most Elected Republicans concur with that position. Not Conservatives mind you, but those in the Elite Republican Class.

As I recall, we had two Senate Candidates that came off sounding like Rape could not result in Pregnancy, and look where they ended up. They damaged themselves and the Republican brand because they could not keep their traps shut. Even if they didn't mean what it sounded like they meant, the damage was done. Two Seats in the Senate that were handed over to the Rats on a silver platter.

Now, since we are four months past the Reelection of President Infanticide, why is this even a topic of conversation?

To quote the Former Secretary of Statist Cankles Clinton, “what difference does it make?”

The retraction would have to be huge and repeated often to rebut his videotaped return to his normal lifelong pro abortion position.

I have never seen the video of Romney retracting his statement that he made on CBS.

Maybe someone will post it if it exists.

I can only remember reading about it here.

It was probably someone with the Campaign who clarified Romney's position when asked by the Press.

Doesn't matter anyway, President Infanticide is running the Ship of State nowadays. Romney is just another asterisk in Political History, like McCain.
