Nancy Pelosi objects to Mitt Romney \"mute' ad
By SEUNG MIN KIM | 9/23/12 2:28 PM EDT
Nancy Pelosi has a starring role in a new ad for the Romney campaign -- and the House minority leader doesn't like it at all.
The new 30-second ad, titled "Mute Button," uses an anecdote from the new Bob Woodward book "The Price of Politics" that shows Pelosi muting President Barack Obama while he was on a speaker phone during negotiations for the economic stimulus package in the early days of Obama's term.
Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid "went on with their meeting, ignoring the president, not even listening to what he had to say," the ad's narrator says. "If he cannot lead his own party, how can he lead America?"
In a statement Sunday, Pelosi called the ad "clearly ... an act of desperation" and denied that she ever muted Obama.
"As speaker and as Democratic leader, any call from the president would treated with great formality and respect," Pelosi said. "There was absolutely no situation in which either President Bush or President Obama were cut off from speaking. I respect the office of the President and the office of the Speaker, including the historic nature of any communication between these two offices."
Pelosi had a similar response when asked about it at the Democratic National Convention at a POLITICO event.
"That didn't happen. ... First of all, whatever friendship you may have with an individual, when the president of the United States is having a conversation with the Speaker of the House and the leader in the Senate, ... it's a formal situation; it's history," Pelosi said in Charlotte.

Eff the plastic little communist.
Nancy always gets a mute from us
Let's hope that Obama, Reed, Pelosi, et al are history as of November 2012.
I object to Nancy “San Francisco Values” Pelosi..
In the immortal words of Andrew Breitbart..."So?"
Woodward has been above question all these years now all of a sudden he just makes stuff up. It would be LOL funny if it wasn’t so sad.
I don’t know or really care whether Pelosi muted Obama or not but we sure do. Everytime he comes on the screen it’s another muteable moment for us.
'Botoxed bolshevik' works for me...
If Pelosi is assumed to be telling the truth, then Woodward is a liar. If he told the truth, then Pelosi muted the POUS. The MSM says, “Oh, look! Romney is rich!”
Doesn’t a mute button prevent outgoing talk - not incoming talk? Does the function of the mute button on conference call devices differ from the one on my plain old telephone?
Ms.Pelosi, then, by pushing the mute button would have merely prevented talk/noise within the area she was within from going out on the teleline connection.
Am I wrong?
Isn’t Pelosi going to object to anything and everything in any ad for Romney? So, let her object. Here’s hoping the Romney camp finds even MORE things for her to object to! It’s a badge of honor!!
Woodward stands by his reporting.
Guess that makes Pelosi the liar once again, surprise surprise.
No wonder no one trusts that woman.
No, you are correct. Pelosi muted so she could fart without the others hearing it.
Tough noogies Nancy
Nancy, you gotta let them play the ad so you can see what’s in it...
I think the point is they muted him so they could ignore him and continue with their meeting without him knowing he was being ignored.
Hey...that's not bad. 'Nancy Pelosi...Botoxevik.'
