Mitt Romney is getting a little help from a reality show star whose gig aligns perfectly with the candidate's prime directive.

It's all about the jobs, or the lack thereof in the Age of Obama.

Mike Rowe of "Dirty Jobs" fame will campaign with the GOP presidential hopeful starting tomorrow in the crucial state of Ohio.

The Discovery Channel personality and Ford Motor Co. pitchman will offer his support Wednesday to Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney at a public event in Bedford Heights.

Romney's campaign announced the Rowe endorsement late Monday when confirming Romney's Cleveland-area itinerary for the final day of a two-day bus tour through battleground Ohio.

Rowe is an extremely thoughtful guy whose show is actually a lot more than just a zany take on people who do the tough, gritty work in order to earn a buck. It's a celebration of the honor, dignity, and even the beauty and nobility of labor.

I encourage all of you who want to learn more about Rowe to find, download, and listen to the October 10, 2010 Adam Carolla podcast, where Adam and Rowe talk about the dignity and value of labor. It's awesome, and just the sort of tonic our nation needs in great big doses these days.

Mike Rowe has spoken in Congressional hearings about Vo-Tech schools and the shortage of skilled labor. He’s been involved for awhile.

thanks for that link - great!

(NOte that he only wrote to obama in 2008 AFTER the presidency was a done deal.

Never heard from ‘bama back - when here is a program that could rally help a lot of people, especially youth, who are not likely to ever find themselves with a PHD after their names - and/or can neither afford college and subsequent loans and need to support themselves NOW - and indeed, that college just isn't the answer for a lot of people. Even entrepreneurs, many brilliant people who drop out of college and pursue their own path to success.

Independence for a vast swath of people vs dependence on GOv’t - obama’s real message: “not interested”

“would love to know more about that”

His letter to ‘bambles is at the end of his article - NOTE: he ONLY wrote to ‘bambles AFTER he was in office, fait accompli.

http://www.mikeroweworks.com/2012/09/the-first-four-years-are-the-hardest/

He never got an answer.

Well, actually, he did. In answer to a proposal that could get tens of thousands of people into jobs - people not likely to go to college and that might otherwise end up on the dole?

‘bamble unstated answer: “NOT INTERESTED”

It's a wonder Rowe wasn't set upon by ‘bambles goons to shut him down.

Mike Rowe is one of those famous Eagle Scouts. In trying to encourage one of my scouts to learn to swim, even though he’s scared of the water, I told him my favorite scouting quote from Mike Rowe. “Scouting forces you to deal with your discomfort. It trains you to do the thing you don’t want to do. And over time, I found it does something else too. It trains you to like it.”
