WASHINGTON (AP) -- A new book says President Barack Obama hoped to put Osama bin Laden on trial if he had surrendered during a U.S. raid.
In a book on the raid that killed bin Laden, author Mark Bowden quotes Obama as saying he thought he could make a strong political argument for giving bin Laden the full rights of a criminal defendant, to show U.S. justice applies even to him.

I’d assume Barry would have wanted to bring OBL back for a trial. Among other things Barry would have been able to keep a media feeding frenzy on the story going longer. He would be able to feed that frenzy as well, claiming “...I will pivot and focus 100% on bringing this to justice...” or some BS like that.

Not buying it. An American President would have ordered capture followed by a waterboarding holiday until the CIA was convinced he had nothing left to say. After that . . . adios.
His capture and killing should not have been revealed until 2060 or so.
What’s Mark Bowden gonna say that’s more interesting and riveting than “No Easy Day” by a Seal who was there?
That Obama was going to put bin Laden on trial in New York? That’s a yawner.
That the Guantanamo prisoners are going to be incarcerated in the newly purchased prison in Illinois? That would be no new news because it appears to be the intent of the gummit.
BTW, where did the money come from to purchase the Illinois prison?
