U.S. Senate candidates Menendez, Kyrillos face off in first debate

The two major candidates for U.S. Senate will get a chance tonight to shake up what has been a low-key race when they tangle in the first of three televised debates. U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez, the Democratic incumbent, and state Sen. Joe Kyrillos, his Republican challenger, will face off at 8 p.m. at Montclair State University. The event will be broadcast on NJTV.

"This debate is a good opportunity for Senator Menendez to showcase how he’s been fighting back for New Jersey’s middle class," Michael Soliman, the campaign manager for Menendez, said.

Soliman said Menendez, a veteran congressman who was appointed to the Senate in 2005 and elected to a full term in 2006, has been a champion of increasing good-paying jobs, better schools and affordable colleges, tax fairness, affordable health care and a cleaner environment. Despite the achievements cited by Soliman, Chapin Fay, the campaign manager for Kyrillos, said the public was "eagerly awaiting how in the world Bob Menendez is going to justify his abysmal record to New Jerseyans."

Menendez is an obamacare supporter

In fact he's been a staunch supporter of obama, helping him to crush the working people.

He has ads on t.v. pretending to be mr. nice guy who cares,
but he's hiding his support of obamacare for fear of losing his election.

Yeah, he is in the mainstream. No far left winger is he. In 1992 he told me he was a Progressive , not a liberal... Dukakis had given Liberal a bad name.
