Romney: Best debate performance in 52 years
wnd.com ^ | Oct. 4, 2012 | Pat Buchanan

Mitt Romney on Wednesday night turned in the finest debate performance of any candidate of either party in the 52 years since Richard Nixon faced John F. Kennedy, with the possible exception of Ronald Reagan’s demolition of Jimmy Carter in 1980.

But where Reagan won with style and quips – “There you go again” – and his closing line, “Are you better off now than you were four years ago?” Romney crushed Obama on both substance and style.

Mitt was like a contender so keyed up by his title shot that, between rounds, he could not sit on his stool, but stood in his corner to rush out and re-engage the champ the instant the bell sounded for the next round.

Obama was mauled, with facts, figures, anecdotes, arguments, jokes, quips. A smiling Romney was on offense all night. And the president’s performance seems inexplicable.

With the split screen showing his response to Romney’s swarm attacks, he appeared diffident, sullen, pouting, flustered, petulant.

Obama made no serious blunder. Yet, on the split screen, as Romney lectured him with a stern smile, Obama seemed a chastened schoolboy, head down, being instructed by a professor that if he did not get his grades up he would not be back next semester.

The verdict on the Denver encounter – that Romney turned in the performance of his life and one of the most impressive in the history of presidential debates, and that the president underperformed, was outclassed and lost badly – was virtually unanimous.

Read the blog’s comments. Not real sure what that would accomplish. Now if they did that and promised not to ever bomb Israel, let Christians worship when and where they pleased, stopped stoning women, let girls attend public school as well as remove their veils and wear regular street clothes and drive, that might be noteworthy.

On that I agree.
Romney did very well, on the issues discussed last night.
He will do well on foreign policy because obama is a disaster, social issues if brought up will kill him where he stands.

I loved seeing that POS socialist Obama and the media humiliated.

I will be even happier if Obama loses the election. I fear for America and freedom if Obama wins. This POS already went around congress many times including when it passed the Dream act Amnesty for a million illegals and the media hides this too. This will be a knockout blow if Romney mentions how this Obama has acted like a dictator and gave Amnesty. I will email Romney

All I want is this Obama monster defeated. I hate that POS and I hate the media.

I will put this in my favorites so that we will see what reality is with President Romney. I think you are mistaking campaigning with telling the truth. He has been practicing the debate for months. I still think that Romney is liberal. However, he is one of those character types that goes the way the wind blows so who know. He definitely doesn't have a core, that is for sure. I do want him to win to rid ourselves of Obama, but don't fool yourself too much.

Trust me. Romney wants to stay as far away from social issues as possible not because he’s worried about Obama supporters but because he isn’t exactly loved by conservatives as it is.

I think Pat’s nearly right.

I remember the night I listened to Ike’s second term win on the radio with my grandfather and uncle. Talk about thrilled!

I believe Romney’s performance beats anything in my lifetime!

This from a guy who was a Newt supporter!

That’s ridiculous. What we saw last night was 2 people being who they really were without the media filter nor the freeper filter. BS you don’t say things so rapidly, so naturally in that manner that he did if they are not a deep part of who you are and what you believe. You Obama supporters don’t fool me. I believe my eyes I don’t believe your ridiculous, infantile, idiotic spin.

And if he just wanted to lie as you say he is Romney would have just spewed classic conservative slogans not the innovative, plan that he proposed which is his own and which none of you understand nor can name.

Romney would be 20 points ahead if the MSM didn’t pull Obama out of the ditch everytime he gets stuck. The MSM is lazy and inept.

I figure the “townhall” will have a few muslims, some homos and some women fearful of losing their “right” to “healthcare”..

A temporary halt means nothing to Iran. They could start it all back up the day after the election, promises or not.

If Romney carries the election, so do the House and Senate. America will be restored with bills originating in the House and being passed in the Senate. Romney will sign them.

I wonder which one comes first.........

Social issues will not kill Romney because there is nobody farther left on social issues than Obama.

People have 2 choices this time. They will take their chances with Romney.

If Obama wins , bills will originate with Obama as it did in passing the Dream act Amnesty on it's own. So Obama is unlawfully violating the constitution and becoming a tyrannical dictator, and the media hides this.

ran could announce a temporary halt to uranium enrichment before next month’s U.S. election in a move to save Barack Obama’s presidency, a source affiliated with high Iranian officials said today.

Yeah, like anybody is going to believe Iran.

I especially liked that he wanted states to figure out their own healthcare plan.

That’s probably true, however Romney is clever and I really think he can handle those questions.....unless they are social.
