Two Coptic Christian children, aged 10 and 9, have been arrested for insulting religion in the Upper Egyptian governorate of Beni Suef, Ahram Online reported on Wednesday.
According to the report, the two children were arrested on Tuesday after the imam of their local mosque filed a complaint against them.
By order of the prosecution the two boys, Nabil Nagy Rizk and Mina Nady Farag, are now being held in the Beni Suef juvenile detention pending further investigation on Sunday, said the report.
Ibrahim Mohamed Ali, the village imam, has accused the children of tearing up pages of the Koran. An Ahram Online reporter in the area said Ali initially took the children to the church and requested that the priest punish them.
Unsatisfied with the church's decision not to castigate the two boys, Ali, together with three other villagers, turned to the courts.
Nabil's father Nagy Rizk defended the action of the boys in a public statement, explaining that they are illiterate and therefore did not know the content of the papers which they found in a small white bag, as they were playing near a pile of rubbish in the street.

Now just a cotton pickin’ minit here. The Azhar did permit sex with one’s wife or husband up to six hours after death, but I think any young boys you bugger still have to be alive, preferably crying and begging you to stop so as to add a little spice to the act. I only think so, though. Perhaps El Azhar’s Sharia scholars should issue a clarification?

Sharia says you can’t execute a virgin.
But does this apply to boys? They have no hymen to burst, just sphincter muscles to be torn, and if you knock out all their teeth and make them perform oral, that’s not the same thing according to Sharia law. Is it? I mean, they don’t have to be toothless with a few mililiters of semen in their stomachs before they’re executed, do they? The Azhar should really have a hot line to answer these questions as they come up, it being Egypt and all.

Yes, very sad and is ethnic cleansing. My daughter is having teenager issues. My husband wanted her to come to Egypt with him. He’s staying in a 5 star hotel and says tourism is coming back. I told him her passport would meet the food processor.

Bitter humor, I do on-line. Prayers, I do between me and Him. Thinking of these kids’ prospects makes me both bitter and wanting to laugh so as to avoid crying. So here goes another. Blame the parents. Their father should have explained to them that if they see some pages from a Koran in a garbage dump, the thing to do is take it in the house, where it can be discretely and quickly used to light a cooking fire.
