J is just stating the obvious, that this is another ‘social experiment’ gone wrong and yet they have ‘opened the gates’ to a bigger problem.

Also, I find it hard to believe that this Gen has ‘suppressed’ these illegal acts for 27 years as, for the most part, even the slightest rumor of this kind of behavior has a tendency to, if not completely ruin, shortstep ones career, with one of the ‘safeguards’ (supposedly) being that if you get ‘passed over’ enough times you are through and the mere suggestion of inappropriate behavior goes in your ‘permanent record’.

I’d like to think this is an aberration, and that other officers are not molesting the females under their watch.

By the same token, should the Clinton White House have been stripped of female interns? I’d also like to think Clinton was an aberration, and that other presidents aren’t molesting the interns.

So if I'm understanding you correctly, it's not fair to expect men to follow the rules and regulations laid out by the UCMJ where females are involved? So by putting them in a position where women are around, then if they violate those regulations then it's not their fault it's the womans? So should we court martial the women involved as well? Or just them?

I didn’t create the problem, I was against this foolishness and now I am supposed to have the solution.
It should never have started.
I am not just against women in combat, or gays in combat, I just am not a fan of combat.
Yes, ‘war is hell’ and there is absolutely no need to make it ‘harder’ for the combatant by filling his day to day life with obstacles and distractions.

Mine wasn’t a perfect Navy but women weren’t expected to live and work alongside ‘horny’ young men 24/7, yes gays (not my choice of words) were there but for the most part stuck to themselves -

When I went in if 2 hes were caught in a compromising situation you can figure they BOTH went to the brig, which, at the time, were manned by Marines.
The fact that one would be getting brig time still didn’t stop ‘them’ from approaching ‘new meat’. Sometimes they got lucky, sometimes they got their arse whipped - many a groper has fallen UP ladders while on the way to being put on report.

I don’t know your (DR) military background - it really doesn’t matter - but when the Navy got away from ‘Rocks & Shoals’ and moved into the UCMJ, there were a passel full of items that could and would call for punishment for ‘breaking’ the rules.
They even had one #134 that stated if none of the other articles are covered, this is a catchall.

In short, the Navy/Military isn’t run as a democracy, you don’t have certain ‘rights’ and for the most part you are considered guilty to proven otherwise - once charged- and justice is swift - unless you happen to be a Muslim Major in Texas that shot up a building full of people.
