Posted on 10/06/2012 1:42:37 PM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife
ST. PETERSBURG,Fla.Mitt Romney, his friends often say, is a private man in a public world. But with just one month left until the election, he has calculated that to win the presidency he must do what for years he has been loath to: share intimate stories about his life.
So it was that as the sun set on his rally here Friday night,...Romney talked about David for the first time himself.
It was clear he was not going to make it,Romney said. I went into his room one night when he was in bed,and he asked me a very difficult question. He said, Mitt, whats next? He called me Brother Romney. Whats next? And I talked to him about what I believe is next.
A few days later, when David was in the hospital,he called Romney.
I was at work and he said,Can you come by? And he said,You went to law school, right?'
Romney told him yes. He said,Could you come by and write my will for me?' Romney recalled. So I went to Davids bedside and got a piece of legal paper, made it look very official. And then David proceeded to tell me what he wanted to give his friends. Talked about his fishing rod, and who would get that. He talked about his skateboard, whod get that. And his rifle that went to his brother.
Ive seen the character of a young man like David, Romney continued. He had his eyes wide open. Theres a saying Clear eyes, full heart, cant lose. David couldnt lose. I loved that young man.
It just so happens that a banner with the same adage hung over Romneys holding room backstage at Wednesday nights debate in Denver. As he walked out to debate the president,Romney looked up and read, Clear Eyes. Full Hearts. Cant Lose!

No one on this forum even Romney’s more ardent supporters worship him. You should know that despite your negativity. You joined April 15, 2012 just in time to be negative? Lighten up, bless your heart.
“No one on this forum even Romneys more ardent supporters worship him. You should know that despite your negativity. You joined April 15, 2012 just in time to be negative? Lighten up, bless your heart.”
Maybe not, but they are making him out to be something he is not, and don’t like it when their bubble gets popped. It’s cult of personality no matter how you slice it.
Mittens is bringing it all together at the right time.
I will start and give an example: One morning when I was on my way into work I heard on the radio that President Reagan would be coming to our town in just a couple of hours. I called my friends and asked them to meet me. I made a huge sign using three sheets of plywood that said “Tacoma Loves You Mr. President” and we took it to a spot where the president's motorcade was suppose to pass.
There were hundreds of people at the same spot protesting, dressed up as skeletons and all sorts of yelling and nastiness going on. But my friends and I braved their jeering and we held up our sign and soon a small group of people who we didn't know gathered with us and the large crowd of nasty people got tired of bothering us and eventually left us alone.
Local newspaper and TV reporters came by and talked to us and got our pictures. Despite being outnumbered ten to one... guess whose picture ended up covering half of the front page of The Seattle Times? The protesters, some who had come all the way down from Canada got a little picture in the back. A couple of weeks later I got a letter signed by President Reagan thanking us, and a week after that I got another letter along with a picture of the president that was suitable for framing, along with a copy of the newspaper article. From what was written it seemed that the president actually had been made aware of our presence and was sincerely thankful.
So now RaisingCain, put a smile on your face and share something nice about yourself. People will probably still ignore you, but at least they won't be thinking mean thoughts about you for a change.
“You know it wouldn’t be so hard...
... for me to quote Mitt Romney lying, and then changing his position, and then lying that he changed his position. IOW, the only logical argument to be made against someone who, for some odd reason, insists that I confess Romney to be something I know he is not.
If Mitt Romney is elected and he carries out the duties of president in accordance with our Constitution, that is good enough for me.
Our current president does NOT respect our Constitution, is a socialist/marxist and he is totally incompetent and unsuited for the position he is in. And speaking of religion, he's about as Christian as the Ayatollah.
Mitt Romney may not be our ideal candidate but he will make a far better president than Barack Obama and it is for that reason that I am supporting (not worshipping) him.
Thank you for the link, that is a very heart warming video. I didn’t start out as one of Mitt’s big fans, but the truth is starting to come out despite the 100s of millions of dollars that are being spent to villainize him. I am also getting tired of a few of the posters here who are doing their best to villainize him.
I'd love to.
Apparently you have no idea how you come across to most of the rest of us. Some friendly advice - save your rant until after the election.
Why is it that you are so afraid to share anything about yourself?
Worship? Nonsense. You're exaggerating, and your demeanor is entirely too caustic, IMHO.
Hey, Mitt is starting to sound pretty decent right now. This is the man we have to learn to appreciate if 0bama is to be replaced in 2012. Mitt's trying to close the deal with voters right now, and he's finally starting to hit his stride and demonstrate his competence and viability.
Another thing which is pushing me into Mitt's corner is the vehemence and dishonesty of the media. In our lifetimes, none of us have ever seen such a high level of transparent complicity in the media. The media are trying to prop 0bama up in the most corrupt way, and they are similarly trying to tear Romney down with all their might. For that reason alone, I see that they fear Romney, and when they're afraid that their ideology is threatened, that's a good thing for patriots.
The TEA party crowd will keep Romney in line. If Romney wins, and is smart enough to embrace the core ideals upon which this nation was built, he could end up being a great President. I can hardly believe I'm typing this, but I see the potential at play here.
On the other hand, Romney could instead look more like 0bama lite, and we'll still be screwed. But at this point, I see enough substantive difference between the two that I think Romney deserves a chance and I will cast my vote for him, barring some unforeseen development.
It's a good idea to get to know Romney. He was impressive in the debate, and not just because 0bama wasn't. I have a lot of problems with several of Romney's policy ideas, but that doesn't mean I think he's not a decent human being, just like Bush was. Decent men can be quite flawed.
But at this point, I believe the mainstream populace as a whole is ready to give the guy a chance. He's making the sale.
“Apparently you have no idea how you come across to most of the rest of us. Some friendly advice - save your rant until after the election.”
I bet I sound like an angry conservative who doesn’t want to anoint Mitt Romney a saint due to the documented evidence of his pathological lying to not just conservatives, but the American public at large. You guys sound to me like a bunch of loyal tribal voters who want to worship their candidate, just like they’re expected to every 4 years.
Thats not at all what you sound like.
“Thats not at all what you sound like.”
That’s because you’re in tribal mode and hate anybody who disagrees with you. Just like Democrats hate anyone who disagrees with them. But then both sides belittle each other as if one is superior to another, and that their particular pathological lying candidate is a saint among men. That leaves me out in the cold, staring aghast at an election, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.
I am a Christian. I believe that the Mormon church is a false church.
However, I do believe that Romney is a decent, moral human being. I’d rather vote for Romney, a Mormon, than a “born again Christian” like Jimmy Carter or a “Bible carrying Christian” like Bill Clinton.
And I would never vote for a guy who belonged to Rev. Wright’s church for 20 years.
I’ll be voting for Romney over Obama in November and after he wins, we’ll try to hold his feet to the fire.
I saw no hate in this thread till you showed up.
“However, I do believe that Romney is a decent, moral human being.”
You’re wrong, because a decent moral human being “evolves,” but does not lie to our faces while spreading propaganda stories about his good character. He even lies about the LDS, which you confess is a false church which he will, no doubt, be the vehicle for normalizing.
But his religion wasn’t the central part of my problem, as even Beck I would vote for, but Mitt? I can’t get over the fact that we have two immoral people to choose from.
“Ill be voting for Romney over Obama in November and after he wins, well try to hold his feet to the fire.”
Good luck! It’s not going to happen though, they already fixed the game with the rules changes over at the RNC. It’ll be ABH next time (Anybody but Hillary) or whatever goon the Democrats dig up.
But, this is a better message than saying “Romney is a good and moral man, who by the providence of God was the right man at the right time.” Holding his “feet to the fire,” at least, is a statement that reflects reality of who he is, even if I doubt you can do it!
On our way to debate.
Staff greets Gov and Ann Romney backstage after debate.
“Aaaaahhh! Don’t you feel all “Holier Than Thou”, now...?”
What’s funny is that the self-righteous attitude is what compels people to proclaim their chosen political candidate a saint among men, ignoring their numerous crimes without questioning anything. It’s a way to feel connected to something higher, instead of the real truth, which is that the world is a farce, which will soon come to tragedy, and back to farce again, and we are all bit players, marching morons, following other bit players into the ditch.
I have no control over the election, and neither do any of you actually. But we fight together here as if it matters. You can believe whatever you like, but don’t expect me to not enjoy the time by pointing out that Myth Romney is just as pathological as his opponent.
That is the first thing I noticed - it is always a story with another Mormon.
Visited a small Presbyterian church in a small Mormon college-town in Utah and they were very proud of their new door.
One guy told me how they had it for two years before anyone would hang it for them. It was a very special kind of door and needed the proper technician. All of the ones in the area were Mormans, and wouldn’t do the work. I said “Well I can sort of see that as it is a church that they think is evil.”
“Well, its not just the churches - it is almost impossible to get a job in town if you aren’t Morman”.
So I take it that you are supporting Obama in the election.
2 Jn 1:10-11
“I bet I sound like an angry conservative..”
I doubt anyone is mistaking you for a conservative.
I’m still not sure why they let you come back after being zotted.
We're talking about a vote for proper governance.
Are you for Romney's opponent, and for the idea the humans ought to accept worship from one another (see Obama "temple" nomination acceptance, Denver, CO, 2008)?
No, you sound like a leftist shill who has infiltrated FR, and is hiding behind very real hypocritical holier-than-thou personal, pseudo-religious, judgement of another human being -- and are feeling selfrighteously-overproud of yourself for being an anal sphincter.
Our Lord made it very clear what He thinks of your sort -- and it is definitely nothing nothing any of the rest of us would aspire to achieve...
Bottom line: you befoul the atmosphere for kilometers around yourself. Get off of our forum!

That’s just the tip of the iceberg, just one of many reasons why I can do nothing but mistrust this man, especially when he confirms it through his double-talk.
You should research how the LDS handles ex-Mormons. If he or she grew up in a Mormon family, their Bishops pressure the family to shun the individual. Cut contact. Many of them are afraid to even say outloud that they no longer believe, as beyond the family angle, it could bite them in the butt for employment.
I’d give a greater benefit of the doubt to Glenn Beck maybe, but Mitt Romney behaves just like the leadership of his church behaves: Deceptive, but always smiling with good hair. They are masters of revisionist history, and Mitt Romney does the same thing!
“Bottom line: you befoul the atmosphere for kilometers around yourself. Get off of our forum!”
Sure, I’ll get out, after you demonstrate one false statement that I have made about Mitt Romney.
That’s the major disconnect here none of you seem to get. You want me to shut up about Mitt not being a saint, but it is disconnected from the reality of the situation.
“We’re not talking about giving Romney a greeting”
You read the scripture wrong. It was saying not to say “God speed” to a corrupt person, because anyone who does so is a partaker of their evil deeds.
Mittbots on the forum want us to say “God speed!” to Mitt, connecting Mitt with the use of the name of God, despite the reality of who he is. It was the guy who mentioned the “providence of God” in the first place who p***ed me off.
I can understand the ABO argument. Even Jim has embraced it. But what isn’t necessary is to embrace developing a cult of personality around a man who has been proven to be a pathological liar.
It is disconnected from Mitt not being an radical muslim, george soros mutha farker, you POS..I'll fight to get MItt in the office and what is that I smell? Is it $hit...close, maybe, maybe, yes, Obizmal TROLL...Take an effin' hike!
It referenced saying 'God speed' to deceivers, deniers of Christ.
If you're gonna stake your argument on it at least get it right.

Too bad you can’t justify your emotionalism with any appeal to reality. Get back to me when you demonstrate how Romney really isn’t a pathological liar who has lied to our face throughout the campaign. Up until the actual nomination, most legitimate conservatives were still hoping a miracle would happen to stop Mitt. If you were half as p***ed at Mitt as you are at me, I’d shake your hand even as you slapped me.
“It referenced saying ‘God speed’ to deceivers, deniers of Christ.
If you’re gonna stake your argument on it at least get it right.”
My central argument is that Romney is a known deceiver, denier of Christ. And I’ve got plenty of evidence to back it up, and most of it isn’t even the fact that he was a Bishop in a religious cult.
RaisingCain will not share any personal stories because:
1. He or she considers everyone else on this forum an enemy.
2. He or she post under multiple pseudonyms and has been zotted off of Free Republic on previous occasions and is afraid any personal story would help identify him or her.
RaisingCain makes frequent posts citing the rules of the forums. This is kind of strange coming from someone who is a relative newcomer. There are a couple other posters who are also obnoxious and frequently cite the rules. Strange coincidence... highly doubtful. Sounds kind of like... do I really need to give clues?
And I'd be very careful making that accusation.
“She had the child outside of marriage and Mitt (during her pregnancy) allegedly wanted her to give up the kid to a Mormon adoption agency.”
So she holds it against Mitt that he gave her some good, heartfelt advice.
What’s your excuse? Are you the gay guy who got the haircut? Or maybe your the union leader who did those strikes at the steel plant that forced the Bain-owned steel company into bankruptcy?
Or just an Obama shill concern troll?
... “Its amazing to me how gullible people are when there is solid proof, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that this man lies as he breaths for purely political reasons”
... WELL, YES, BUT ENOUGH ABOUT BARACK OBAMA ...
” Even now, his message is entirely different from what it was in the primaries”
— FALSE. AN OBAMA CAMPAIGN TALKING POINT. Romney’s plan is the same plan he talked about in the primary.
Slap you??? Do I come across as gay to you??? I would actually rather pull you communist colon through your mouth and lay it, ever so triumphantly, on your keyboard for your boyfriend to see.
Do your parents know you are pumpin' the purple lipped prince over Romney because he is not of your specific religion? If they were true Americans. I doubt it, or you would be forced out of the basement.
“RaisingCain makes frequent posts citing the rules of the forums.”
Liar! I’ve never done any thing like that.
“He or she considers everyone else on this forum an enemy.”
No no no, just the MittBots. I like everybody else.
“RaisingCain will not share any personal stories because:”
Because I consider your argument, whatever it is, to be irrelevant. I don’t see how sharing a personal story with you is going to change the fact that Mitt Romney is a liar, which none of you have actually disputed with me directly, you’ve only attacked me for saying it.
It’s an election. Neither major-party candidate is perfect.
Good point...same way I now feel about you...irrelevant, but with a large side of annoying. GTFA
Congratulations, RaisingCain you deserve a special bonus for hyjacking another thread with your hateful, nasty, pro-Obama talking points. RaisingCain’s man, Obama has nothing to run on other than attacking a decent man with hundreds of millions of dollars in negative ads and trolls infiltrating conservative forums. Good job sheepdog!
“I have theological differences with Mormons, but I wouldn’t accuse them of being deniers of Christ.”
Weird! Because every denomination, except for the commie-liberal ones, acknowledges they are a religious cult that denies Christ. Primarily because they believe Jesus is a created being who was produced through literal sex between God the Father and the Virgin Mary, and that all people are produced through celestial sex between God and one of his spirit wives, we are all destined to God-hood (if we are good Mormons, learn the secret handshakes, and get approved by Smith who stands on the right hand of God) and that shortly after the time of Christ the Church disappeared, and old Joey Smith was tasked with restoring the “lost gospel” to the world, which he did by translating reformed Egyptian with magic stones out of his hat, marrying multiple wives, including sharing wives with other Mormons, and eventually getting shot by an angry mob while screaming a Free Masonic “Help” signal.
“Slap you??? Do I come across as gay to you???”
Well, you DO get offended that I’m attacking Mitt Romney, who favors gay adoption and gays in the boy scouts, and had a role in promoting the gay agenda in Massachusetts, including Gay marriage. You tell me!?
“Its an election. Neither major-party candidate is perfect.”
Both major party candidates are pathological liars with an insatiable lust for power.
Pick your poison, America!
Wait until the muslin brotherhood is raping you and those you love, courtesy of those one you espouse tonight...I’ll take magic underwear any day.
“So she holds it against Mitt that he gave her some good, heartfelt advice.”
She held it against Mitt for demanding she give up her kid (allegedly) and treated her as less than a human being (allegedly) because she was not as good a Mormon as he wanted.
Here’s the BBC show I was mentioning. The interview is in there with the woman, along with an interview by Park Romney, Mitt’s Libertarian ex-Mormon cousin whom we should have nominated instead! LOL
Amazing that you should know that.
As for you, seek help immediately.
