Oakland anti-war protesters wreak havoc

OAKLAND -- Anti-war protesters smashed storefronts, shattered car windows and threw paint during a march through downtown Oakland, targeting banks, City Hall and other buildings, police said Monday.

No one was arrested during the Sunday night protest, which coincided with the 11th anniversary of the start of the war in Afghanistan.

About 200 people gathered at Frank Ogawa Plaza outside Oakland City Hall about 6 p.m. The crowd then left the plaza and took a circuitous route down Franklin and 20th streets and Telegraph Avenue before returning to the plaza.

When the police state:

"Police said they did not have enough officers to safely quell the vandalism and did not make any arrests"

can the citizens of the community form an armed militia to patrol the streets? I think back to Northfield, Minnesota and the James Gang.

I never understand certain things. And one of those things is, why is it that these anti-war protesters, who are allegedly such peace loving people, end up staging violent protests.

Because it was never about anti-war. Not now and not in the sixties.

It has always been “Death to America.”

Anti-war protesters? What war are they anti? We’re out of Iraq, we;re pulling out of Afghanistan, and the president declared the war on terror to be over.

They are not “anti-war”. They simply object to the fact that it is not their war, and that they know they don’t have the guns.

Just wonder where your rights as a property owner would end? If my business, home, car or other property were being destroyed I might be tempted to do some counter protesting with my Remington 870 loaded with 3 inch 00.

Why in the world would any company still be in Oakland?

The police are useless. It will soon be evident that we will have to put down this miserable human junk ourselves.

200 people go on a rampage destroying property and no one is getting arrested. Don’t they have surveillance cameras on every available surface out there. What good are the police if they can’t stop this. So next time it will be 2000 people after this little test run.

They were busy giving me a ticket for talking on my cell phone while driving. They have their priorities. Again if it was my neighborhood I would form a citizen militia, which is a Constitutional right, and post signs informing the populace of its existence.

Did you ever see that movie The Jack Bull with John Cusack. One of my favorites. “When there is no law a man has to make his own.”

Yeah then the police would take notice and do something. Imagine a wall of law abiding citizens coming down the block with shotguns. You know, like the police are supposed to do. Can’t have people defending their hard earned property and lawful businesses from people exercising their non existent right to destroy things in the name of protesting.

During the LA Riots (post Rodney King), the Korean shopkeepers kept rioters away with guns. The shopkeepers were on their shop roofs. Nobody messed with them, either.

Now, wait just a cotton pickin' minute ... Oakland, oh.

Nevermind.

Has to be from a couple hundred yards away. Less detectable.
